After five years of sobriety, I fell back into drinking for 7 months. I kept crying out to God during those very difficult months and this song was one that ministered to me on a deep level while working through it with the Lord. God finally answered and delivered me and came in as “ my Prince of Peace” like I’ve never experienced before. All praise and glory to my precious Savior - JESUS CHRIST! He never gave up on me even when I was so faithless. No matter what you are struggling with keep crying out to your Heavenly Father , He will come and set you free, I promise you!

Almost 20 years ago my daddy who had a week or so to live listened to this song on a cassette I took with me to Colorado to play to him and tell him more about Jesus. He asked me over and over to play it again. Later found out he had my mom call the pastor back to pray with him. Has a new meaning today with all that's going on in this world. I started listening to Rich the year I started following Christ which was the year he passed on. I can't explain how he affected the way I view the Lord in almost every way. I got the impression it was not by chance I discovered him that same year. Words can't express how thankful i am for his life, his lyrics and his raw reflection of struggling to follow Christ. I hope to one day give him the biggest hug and kiss on cheek and tell him Thank you for everything!

My wife is suffering from earlier stages of dementia at 52. I lost a friend to share my triumphs and tragedies and it’s hard to find relief but this song helps me remember where true peace comes from. We all struggle with something but Jesus is there for everything and everyone

I didn't know how confused & broken am until one day I decided I don't have the right to hurt other people or make excuses defending the things I do to lessen my pain. I love his thought. We are always living on the edge of surrender to the flesh but the grace of God in Jesus is more than sufficient to keep us, and to cleanse us when we fail, even seventy times seven.
Oh oh that story just really hits home BIG time!!! So very true in my life because I was raised in abuse and religion. I was always being judged and criticized ever since I dared to become a Christian instead!! And there was a lot of relatives and of course my dear old parents!! “When it all came together is when we were in Amsterdam, and I just became really keenly and uncomfortably aware of how… you know you think you’re getting somewhere, you think you’re growing as a Christian, that kind of thing, and all a sudden you are in a situation where you go “I am just as susceptible as I was when I was 16, to a lot of things”? Sometimes we can be really hard on ourselves about that. Well, Beaker and I were talking in a train station about the whole thing - where we were and where we wanted to be. And we got into some actually pretty explicit detail about the nature of our temptations and of those struggles. And this guy leans over - and we’re in Germany, right, so we’re assuming no one's going to be interested enough in whatever we would have to say to actually bother to translate and listen. But this guy leans over, the only other guy in there, and says “Excuse me, but are you Rich Mullins?” So I had to think back over our conversation to see if I was or not. And decided that I must be. Whether or not I like who I am, that is who I am. And once again it’s back to the Ragamuffin thing: the realization that people are going to judge you. And there are I think actually people who look for excuses to condemn you, and look for excuses say bad things about you. But God doesn’t look for those kind of excuses. And I think the conclusion of the matter for me was that I think I would rather live on the verge of falling, and let my security be in the all-sufficiency, the grace of God, then live in some kind of pietistic illusion of moral excellence. Not that I don’t want to be morally excellent, but my faith isn’t in the idea that I’m more moral than anybody else, my faith is in the idea that God and his love are greater than whatever sins any of us commit."

When I'm struggling with sin failures I watch this when I remember and I don't give up on Jesus' work on the cross. Keep confessing and receiving forgiveness. Jesus is alive in me!
I have found that the hardest thing about sin is realizing how desperately you still want something you know full well is killing you & being forced into the corner of having to turn to a Father you were so angry with for absolutely no good reason that you were actually willing to hurt yourself to get away from admitting you needed him, only to find out he never was angry with you in the first place & is just thrilled that you finally came back to him. This has been my experience, anyhow.

To confront ourselves in such a truthful way and to recognize God loves us just as much - no matter what- that's so ridiculously powerful LOVE. Confronted with myself I want to turn away from the mirror- and He reaches through and loves me and seeks to show me His way, a better way, a way that is a stranger to self-hatred and an embracer if Christ's image in me....

This video and song helped to create a bridge between me and my faith, many times over through the years. Jesus has always been the quiet driving force in my life. Quiet in the sense of my actions without explanation rather than explanation without action. When I was hurting or without hope I would smile, never asking or seeking. I would give you my last dollar and tell you I had two more in my pocket. I was so alone, scared and hopeless but optimistic and held faith. I don't resort to music to compare or follow - but played this one million times, still do. This a prayer for me, I write my words and humbly give thanks for a simple but good place that I have been allowed to live. No hate or judgment as seems to be the "Christian" mantra today. GNGB

I was always being judged and criticized ever since I dared to become a Christian instead!! And there was a lot of relatives and of course my dear old parents!! “When it all came together is when we were in Amsterdam, and I just became really keenly and uncomfortably aware of how… you know you think you’re getting somewhere, you think you’re growing as a Christian, that kind of thing, and all a sudden you are in a situation where you go “I am just as susceptible as I was when I was 16, to a lot of things”?
Sometimes we can be really hard on ourselves about that. Well, Beaker and I were talking in a train station about the whole thing - where we were and where we wanted to be. And we got into some actually pretty explicit detail about the nature of our temptations and of those struggles. And this guy leans over - and we’re in Germany, right, so we’re assuming no one's going to be interested enough in whatever we would have to say to actually bother to translate and listen. But this guy leans over, the only other guy in there, and says “Excuse me, but are you Rich Mullins?”
So I had to think back over our conversation to see if I was or not. And decided that I must be. Whether or not I like who I am, that is who I am. And once again it’s back to the Ragamuffin thing: the realization that people are going to judge you. And there are I think actually people who look for excuses to condemn you, and look for excuses say bad things about you.
But God doesn’t look for those kind of excuses.
And I think the conclusion of the matter for me was that I think I would rather live on the verge of falling, and let my security be in the all-sufficiency, the grace of God, then live in some kind of pietistic illusion of moral excellence. Not that I don’t want to be morally excellent, but my faith isn’t in the idea that I’m more moral than anybody else, my faith is in the idea that God and his love are greater than whatever sins any of us commit."

When I'm struggling with sin failures I watch this when I remember and I don't give up on Jesus' work on the cross. Keep confessing and receiving forgiveness. Jesus is alive in me!

I have found that the hardest thing about sin is realizing how desperately you still want something you know full well is killing you & being forced into the corner of having to turn to a Father you were so angry with for absolutely no good reason that you were actually willing to hurt yourself to get away from admitting you needed him, only to find out he never was angry with you in the first place & is just thrilled that you finally came back to him.
This has been my experience, anyhow.

To confront ourselves in such a truthful way and to recognize God loves us just as much - no matter what- that's so ridiculously powerful LOVE. Confronted with myself I want to turn away from the mirror- and He reaches through and loves me and seeks to show me His way, a better way, a way that is a stranger to self-hatred and an embracer if Christ's image in me....

This video and song helped to create a bridge between me and my faith, many times over through the years. Jesus has always been the quiet driving force in my life. Quiet in the sense of my actions without explanation rather than explanation without action. When I was hurting or without hope I would smile, never asking or seeking. I would give you my last dollar and tell you I had two more in my pocket. I was so alone, scared and hopeless but optimistic and held faith. I don't resort to music to compare or follow - but played this one million times, still do. This a prayer for me, I write my words and humbly give thanks for a simple but good place that I have been allowed to live. No hate or judgment as seems to be the "Christian" mantra today. GNGB
May the Lord of heaven provide you the comfort to make it thru this day.
