Wokeness is killing everything. Music, art, and entertainment is supposed to bring people together. It just so happens that when an artist crosses into the mainstream, they unfortunately want to prattle along with their agendas. We want talent instead of indoctrination.
The mainstream has always been garbage and tantamount to group think. We are not losing anything of real culture significance anyway when if comes to music, TV, and movies. What people are missing is that this has been a psy-op from very beginning. The powers that be have seen fit to ‘program’ the public. The message has changed over the years, it’s just now they see an opportunity to upend the system. It’s a once in a lifetime opportunity as King Charles put it. I have lived outside the main stream line entire life. None of this garbage interested me. I’m happy to see others are finally coming around. We have to build our own systems. Stop giving your time, attention and money to these scoundrels.
Wokeness destroys everything it touches. Including its strongest allies. Look at JK Rowling, who did more to attack bigotry her detractors will do in a dozen lifetimes. Now, a target.
That was incredibly inspiring! I'm a 52yo old school punker that despises the woke culture and have just discovered the majesty of Conway Twitty and Loretta Lynn. My wife grew up on all the classic country and it's exciting to discover it myself thanks to her. I am a dad of a young son and I will fight tooth and nail to prevent his future being ruled by despotic woke culture.
I'm with you. This current climate cannot last, cannot be the future. Too many good people in the U.S. Teach your children well, and they'll be alright.
Great interview. My favourite country singer, Johnny Cash caused an uproar when he played at a prison, but stuck to his guns. When Johnny, Waylon or Loretta were interviewed, they had the same voice and accents as their singing. So many artists seem to sing with a voice that isn’t their own.
Exactly. For those who promote those things... I want people like us ( who understand the reason for maximum freedom and limited government, under just law and order, who understand & value the constitution and our founding principles etc. ) to remind those folks that under our government, as it was supposed to be, you ARE free to live communally if you want. Free to form all kinds of social clubs and organizations and charities. Free to get up on a soap-box and solicit donations for the poor and needy. Free to get off you A** and DO what you imagine that somehow force and corruptible officials and middle-man costs, will somehow do efficiently.... .

"America has had such an impact in the world because it gave its people not the right to be happy, but the right to pursue happiness." That, folks, is the American Dream. You can do anything within your ability in this country if you're willing to make the effort. Few countries offer the opportunities the United States makes available. All it takes is the willingness to work harder than the next man.
Yes! I would love to expand on that and say, that not only is moving to the US and achieving the dream an aspiration for many, but breaking these class barriers in our own countries is. US is not just a country, it's a new civilization if you ask me. I live in a village in Serbia, and I can speak English as if it was my native language. I understand what the US is about, and I love everything country and rural in the US. I am saddened that a part of its population is trying to bring it down nowadays. A bunch of ungrateful lunatics if you ask me.

I noticed the other day, people can't talk to each other anymore, without feeling like they have to be on ultra high alert to offending someone at some point. It's sad. We are so divided and it's taking a toll on our mental health and our country as a whole.
TxS, I live in Sydney Australia but have been to and through the USA on 14 occasions between 1984-2013. All up I've been to 18 States, which took in 100 cities, towns and hamlets. About 2005, I began to notice your country's culture and identity changing. And in 2013 when in San Francisco, I realised America was coming apart. In the summer of 2020, it'd become clear the social structures were Parlous. Since then they've deteriorated. To gauge an insight with this can be garnered by reading the works of Lance Morrow, who's based in NYC, talking about the sociological demise of America, via Wokeism and progressive agendas. With regards to MSNBC and CNN programs I occasionally watch (Joy Reid) it's clear the colored people on those programs are virulent racists. And none of them want justice for past events, but retribution.
It is no longer just division. In the speech in Philadelphia the Regime all but declared war on half the country. The game is over. Something will rise up in the wake of the old America, and possibly it will be called America, but it will not be America.
It's because the people that are waking up are deciding that others can't do and say whatever they want and that rubs the unwoken because they don't know how to handle. If someone was able to kick a dog every day and one day it bit you, you think it's because he was having a bad day or he just got tired of being kicked?
Somebody from Australia should be be just as intuitive as anyone else as most anglos there are descendants of people that were exiled there, where pasification of Indigenous was standard. Aborigines and penal colony descendants should know just as much if not more than anybody how important waking up is.

I prefer anything that's got some Gutair. I love Rock, Metal, Country, Heavy Metal, anything that's got Gutair instead of todays crappy music like Ariania Grande.
I really appreciate this message. When I was growing up I really loved flying and firefighting. My dad was a volunteer firefighter and that was my one goal and focus as a boy. As a teenager, I would ride my bike to the local airport and hop rides with hour-builders. I learned enough by 15 or 16 to have earned my Private Pilot’s License but that’s quite an expensive hobby. 23 years ago at the age of 21 a tire I was changing off the rim on my pickup exploded in my face. This brought physical and mental injuries as well as seizures. These things squashed those 2 dreams. Fast forward to now with a family and requirements of life and I’m seeing my useful life slipping away as I’m still stuck in the “I can’t do these things” mindset. I saw that mindset and way of life as wasting the skills and drive that I have in me. I’m venturing into services that I can provide on a volunteer basis, such as the Civil Air Patrol. Thank you John for this. It really does inspire people to try to do things that they think aren’t possible. Many first timers were people who were told time and time again told “no you can’t do this” but they wanted it so bad that they just kept pressing on and made history.
Tom MacDonald proves that if you have the determination, and a good team, you don't need a label. You can do it yourself, and dominate. But you have to put everything in.

Also, more recently, when You and Tom McDonald new song "End Of The World" just came out on March 17th. Both of you did an awesome job on the song. I think the takeover of radio by ClearChannel in the early 80’s really changed everything. I noticed immediately. Real songwriting, real composing by real people being creative came to an abrupt end. Later, even hip hop as a true creative thing was co-opted and turned into vile gangsta garbage by corporate studios.
Growing up my parents played country music in the 70-80’s and I liked it. It definitely started changing in the 90’s. It was more of a pop-country. They don’t listen to the new country. When I go over they still have country music on but it’s always the older stuff.
Wokeness is kinda like religion but unlike most religions, wokeness is toxic and evil. If the message comes first above everything else, it will drive people away just like religion. No one wants to be lectured, preached, and force fed ideologies.
Oh my goodness, I cannot tell you how much I loved this! Not only his backstory of being from Amarillo, but all the little sidenotes he added like about Faith and the story behind Mississippi Girl, which happens to be one of my favorite Faith Hill songs. Also the one about Jason Aldean who I am sooo proud of for the way he and Brittany are standing up to woke culture in country music right now. I have alot of perspective on all this myself as I worked in the biz for many years alongside such great writers as Hank Corcoran, Harlan Howard, Willie Nelson, Bobby Bradock, Curly Putman, Troy Seals, Larry Henley, Ed Bruce, Terry Stafford (also from Amarillo!) and on and on. I have seen the transition of country music over more than a generation. Some parts good, some not, but I love what all he had to say about being able to express our perspectives as artists without this cancel culture restrictiveness. The fact that people can run the risk of being cancelled for saying something that may not be politically correct is a sad state of affairs. Anyway, I am so glad I stumbled on this down home chat from John Rich. His story was "rich" with inspiration and takeaways for all of us! It made my day!!
Remember the Dixie Chic's saying how they were embarrassed of their President, which was President Bush at that time. It destroyed their career. The sad part of it, they were right! THE MILLION-DOLLAR QUESTION: Will you go to Heaven when you die? Have you lied, stolen, used God’s name in vain, or lusted (which Jesus said was adultery, Matthew. 5:28)? If so, God sees you as a liar, thief, blasphemer, and adulterer at heart. If you die in your sins, you will end up in a terrible place called Hell. But there's good news. Though we broke God's Law, Jesus paid the fine by dying on the cross: "For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believeth in Him should not perish but have everlasting life" (John. 3:16). Then Jesus rose from the dead and was seen by hundreds of eyewitnesses. He fulfilled all the prophecies of the promised Savior. It's a hidden gem.
I didn't leave country music. Country music left me. The song Murder on Music Row by George Strait and Alan Jackson explains perfectly what happened to country music. "Someone cut out its heart and soul."
Saw John Rich in a small concert put on by our local radio station. We have been to 100's of concerts, but John Rich was by far the best. I didn't expect this to be a feel-good interview but was quite moved by this. John's point that true art can't be placed into boundaries is spot on. Wokeness claws out the beauty and rawness of art, leaving an empty shell in its wake. Entertainment nowadays is akin to the the cave-dwellers in Plato's Cave being delighted by the shadows dancing on the wall rather than the beautiful (and flawed) flesh and blood dancers casting those shadows.
So refreshing to listen to this wise man. And in the music industry. Well done and continued success to him and all those he’s been able to work with. Wonderful to watch some shared values.

Wonderful to hear the pride and respect in his voice when he talks about his working class father. We need this old-fashioned attitude to make a strong comeback. Closely related is his realization that college wasn’t worth much for him. In fact, college is a colossal waste of money and time unless one studies math, hard science or engineering; everything else can easily be learned on one’s own.

Wokeness is killing everything. Music, art, and entertainment is supposed to bring people together. It just so happens that when an artist crosses into the mainstream, they unfortunately want to prattle along with their agendas. We want talent instead of indoctrination.
You love indoctrination when it's you doing it. Look at prageru kids for example.
Wokeness is in the commie handbook
Or as Laura Ingraham would say, "Shut up and sing."
AMEN! I am so thankful for you speaking out when others can't or won't! May God bless you richly!
A couple times a year a new song gets through, but it is RARE. I love 70's-90's County music!
Keeping it ol' school, and keeping it real. ♡ so deeply appreciative for your music and message.
Got chills when he said, "You only get to vote for socialism or communism once." Wow!!!

Your Dad was a blessing just like mine. He was a preacher and he never waivered in his faith. He refused the vax at 78 and he's thriving.
@TxSpaceMOM, Exactly! People need to learn how to agree to disagree without getting all worked up.
Somebody from Australia should be be just as intuitive as anyone else as most anglos there are descendants of people that were exiled there, where pasification of Indigenous was standard. Aborigines and penal colony descendants should know just as much if not more than anybody how important waking up is.

So I don't know what I said in my comment, which in case you want to go back and read it a few more times, since you seem to be having a hard time connecting the dots, was more about the music business than anything else. 3:16).
