Looks like those are the same size LED’s available anywhere-if one needed replacing- or 3 in the case of my wife’s W211 3rd brake light. I’ll check the diode at the end of the chain before them 1st. Thanks for showing this. I’m one of the stupid ones that has to do it trial and error.
Based on video i fixed my c180 kompressor 2009 3rd brake light. Replaced the diode SM 4001, there is only diode in the later LED light array. Thank You
I love this sort of stuff, I was hoping for more than 30 seconds of fault finding to give my brain some exersize. Opening it without breaking the clips was the hardest part.
my 3rd brake light was faulty and i replaced it with new one. That faulty 3rd brake light has to be broken to a dozen pieces to dismantle it and check the fault. The diode was working fine but the one of the LED bulb on the strip was faulty. Thanks for sharing the solution. mine was w203 mercedes
Hello, I just found your video when looking how to repair my brake light on S204. The problem is, not all led bulbs are working. Few stays off when brake is applied. Could it be problem with led bulbs itself or can it be something else? Sorry for the maybe stupid question.
it is definitely a possibility. It is not uncommon for some leds' to die or short out. This is very common. These brake lights are incredibly expensive for what they are and can be repaired quite easily, these probably cost all of $10 for MB to manufacture.
Hi! Could someone tell me what the led type is? Or the name. Some of mine doesn’t work, I want to change but I want to order it forward. Or some repair kit. I couldn’t find.
@@280marius hi!! I started the project than I had to freeze it, so I didn't looked up yet, I started to take it out but still didn't get it, I will do it in these days. you ? 😃
There's some fun checking the OVP and fuel pump relays; mine had some oxidation where the terminals are crimped to the internal part of them. Saved lots of $$$!
Not as easy on the w207... pub M&T 94v-0 MC1368C 4541-07 which means nothing to me or the internet either by the look of it😳 any suggestions please? It’s all surface mounts and one side is dim with one LED out. Thanks
@@eoinbradley9642 I'm planning to do it soon. I have found out that more often than not it's leds themselves that break down, so I have ordered some spare red leds. I suggest you do the same and get a full repair kit that would have leds, resistors, fuses and whatnot. If anything is broken you can fix either of those. Total parts' price is like 10 euros so I'm not that concerned
oh i forgot to follow up, i've solved mine a little less than a year ago. hopefully this helps someone in the future. so the third brake light on w207's is similar to that of w211's meaning it's on the trunk lid behind a plastic cover. what the issue was is that the plastic cover leaks some moisture and water through to the pcb and mercedes were more than aware of the issue when making the w207 version, judging by some absorbing material they've placed on the sides. it's precisely of 0 help. when i've disassembled mine it was wet despite not having any rain for over a week. so the led slot was rusted through and the diode broke some contact effectively switching off remaining 3 lights. i've tried putting a new one on, but it wouldnt fit properly and my patience was running low, so i simply bridged the gap with some solder and called it a day. works just fine and you can't see just one led missing i strongly suggest putting some sealant on the plastic when reassembling to stop leaks (i however was lazy to not be bothered by that)
Yeah anyone can fix it.. not even funny... Because we all have right tools and knowledge.

Quero agradecer pois com o conhecimento passado no seu video arrumei a 3rd light do meu w212. Obrigado!
My brake light is dead 2/3rds from left, any idea what could cause it?

I used to do this for a living , I still have my Huntron tracker ,Which would have found that without power , good jobs like that are satisfying to do

Hey,
Can you specify the LED’s for this 3rd brake light ? Three of them are not working on my car and I want to replace them. Thanks.

I whant buy the led, what the description are? Or a link. Thanks
Can you point out the sense resistor?
do you have to cut the plastic to open it?
from memory, it just unclips apart easily. I don’t remember destroying it to open it.

Do you know what bulbs are required so I can replace them
