Had fiat 500 for 3 years now just up graded to the hybrid,I absolutely love the car ,I get stick off a lot of people as they say it's a girls car ,but I just laugh at them as they obviously havnt a clue of cost effective city cars this is and always has been an Italian classic and very very saleable in future in another 3 years I'll probably up grade to a electric,oh and I play golf flatten the back seats get mine and my cousin's clubs in no probs ,am single with young son and grandkids and it's perfect for what I need
@@shollysgarage it's as u say classy and a classic ,for a small car a nice look to , I don't like the look of the grilless electric cars tho need to work on the front make it more attractive
Great video! I’m from Canada and we have a 2017 manual 1.4L (101HP) fiat 500 as a fourth car at home and it’s really fun to drive. We owned it since new and it has been surprisingly reliable and decent in the snow! I just subbed 👍
Coincidentally on my commute to work which is 50 miles round trip, I get 60 mpg from the hybrid version you tested. I simply don’t trash the gears and don’t go over the speed limit.
Have you notice a “second level” of the gas pedal? I drove one last week and notice that once you floor it, if you push a bit more, you have another level of acceleration…
In one review of the car, it mentioned that you had to coast in neutral to recharge the hybrid battery, this seems a very unsafe practice as there is then no engine braking and far less control. Is this strictly necessary ?
You don't have to coast in neutral. Taking the foot of the pedal so the car slows does regen. But the hybrid is a joke. Not even noticeable that any hybridy thing is happening at all.
The engine has 3 cylinders, as the revs rise there is an interesting "3-cyl howl", take the Fiat out of town it will run at 60 to 70 on A-roads and make you smile! Who needs a big expensive car when you can have such fun with a puppy-dog Fiat 500
Loe the ca but as of now stopped importing this into US...My problem w this car is reliability. How have Model been generally in last few years...Id be afraid to spend all that money on unreliable car
I feel proud that you like the product of my land. I'm Italian and proud to be! we have the beutiful places, citys, historic monuments, we create stile in every things we build! watch alfa romeo stelvio giulia and whats a bmw 3 or x3 how ugly and cold they look? 😣 about "italians gear changes" this gear change more old became more smooth and light became, you can see a test of 200.000 km of fiat 500 1.4 gasoline engine, the very official "quattro ruote" that only treath about cars since 40 years, analyze every part of the car opening apart every little peace of it after 200.000 km and every thing was not only perfect, but the engine was more power than new and consuming less... the gear change was more smooth and perfect in every of it's part, they only changed shock absorbers and nothing else, you can find the video on youtube, wait I'm gona add it to you here
I drove one of these over the weekend and the hybrid claim is a joke. At no point does the engine shut and an electric motor take over. None. I am assuming that they justify "hybrid" by allowing electrics to feebly augment the engine. But it is feeble. The car also has this annoying regen icon that lights up everytime the car coasts. I haven't driven any 500 before but I suppose as a small city car it's okay and it looks stylish. Boot is surprisingly large. Backseats are kids only. My renter was red like the video and the shiny red dashboard was distracting thanks to reflections.

I bought this car when it first came out in 2007(ish), I loved it! Wasn’t bothered by the comments people gave me either 😉

@@colinmumford267 I’m not a big fan of identifying cars as a gender 😂 real men wear pink 😉😂😂😂
@@shollysgarage Quite right, real men do wear pink. I have a pink polo shirt that goes well with grey trousers!
Well I'm 6' 3", 14 stone and I drive a Fiat 500. And I don't care if people thinks it's a girl's car, because it's a great dirive.

MPG is very good...decent small car and looks decent.. love it.....
We agree!
Just rented one of these in England. I got 62!!! MPG (US MPG! not UK MPG) on the hiway. Fun to drive. I wish they sold them here in the US :(
The hybrid traction battery is not located in the boot, it is located under the passenger seat and occupies no more volume than a shoebox
I went by a fiat dealer here in florida and they arent selling them anymore here 😢
That’s a shame - lovely car
@@shollysgarage ive read maybe electric ev 500 model may come back to US
❤use my daughter's 500 or has she calls it 🦊 a good car 🚗 fun to drive made a nice change
Nice! It’s a great little car. I’m taking out the new 500 electric today - stay tuned
I want to buy one of these, in north america. But they cut it here.

I did not! Thanks for pointing this out :)

The most annoying thing ever is that radio disclaimer each time you turn it on. Must deal with that bs 10 times a day

It looks like a lot of fun, it would be good for a teen.
this isn’t helping my urge to want to get a fiat 500 even tho some of my family don’t want me to
Where are they making 2023 ????
