      Notice how the referee is using his voice as well as hand gestures to let everyone in the arena know that this delay of restart shenanigans is not to be allowed this day, and most importantly conveys this without having to show a card.

    Everyone knows we have a problem with refs in this league, both with dodgy calls from the refs themselves and with fans/coaches not treating the refs with any respect. Surely releasing more stuff like this would help to reduce friction surrounding these issues. This is a really great video, gives fans the transparency we want around calls and helps us to remember that the refs are blokes who are just trying to do their best. More of this please

    I'm a football/soccer and handball referee in Denmark, and I looooove how these good referees use their wit and surplus to get the players on their side during the game. Jarred Gillet is a talentet as they can be, and I really hope to see him at the greatest matches very soon.
    The comment about keeping distance at a freekick is amazing. A portion humour and a portion serious. The player understood and the opponent accepted. All teams want a referee like that, as you can hear several times during the game from the players...
    More referees, and games, like this :-)

    • @MikeTotem
      @MikeTotem 5 лет назад +5

      @@TheMarcusNyberg - That's a good point. Referees and players don't have to agree about everything, but in my experience it helps in the heat of the game to just quick explain a discision and then "move on". The players might disagree, but that's okay. If a player feels his question is taken seriously, it's a lot better :-)

    What a great video. I don't know why I've never wondered about this or typed it into RUclips even though I've been watching football for as long as I can remember. I guess the whole focus is on everything else other than referees, and all that's left for them is the blame and negative talk

      It’s probably one of those wooden spinny things that make a ton of noise when the only one brought into the stadium happens to belong to the kid who sits next to you (think it’s called a rattle)

    Wow! Really nice to see the camaraderie between the officials, and between the officials, especially the ref, and the players.
    Tobias could have so easily gotten a yellow card, but friendly warning deemed enough.
    This is how sport should be played.
