- Today I got my watch cleaning machine ready with new watch cleaning fluids. Then accounted for the all the watch parts of the ETA 6498 movement. Also the watch that I had hand made as part of making my own watch.
I cleaned the mechanical watch parts thoroughly in the watch cleaning machine. Then got them ready for inspection, fine cleaning and assembly later during the week.
I’m documenting my watchmaking journey, so I hope you all enjoy my adventures in horology.
Never Give Up!
Thanks for watching.
Dean DK
Thank you, great content as always!
Love the fact that you stick to having short and controlled sessions. Motivates everyone out there to keep their job - side thing balance healthy and (esp. sleep) in control.
Thanks Alpert’s, really appreciate the feedback on the way I’m doing the videos, I’m glad to hear it’s positive. Appreciate it man 😁
Hey Dean. You can leave the balance assembly attached to the watch plate in the cleaning machine if it's in a part of the basket by itself to avoid damaging the balance spring. Then before oiling put the jewel cap and jewel hole in a jar with some isopropyl alcohol/ lighter fluid and agitate the solution with a hand blower, then just dry off on some rizzla paper's. Let the solution evaporate fully or the oil will run. Best of luck with the watch!
Thanks Garth, yeah that’s the way the BHI teach it to, I did that for the first time ever. Before I was scared always disassembled and cleaned by hand. 😁
Thank you ..another great video .. ive got incabloc in my eta6498 pilot wrist watch. .. didn't know there was other types .. learned something today again 👍🏼
Thanks again for watching and commenting. I’m glad you learnt something too, I am really grateful 😁😁
@@DeanDK in also interested in the 6497 centre seconds .. maybe do a video on how to convert 👍🏼
Another great video. Thanks Dean. Learn something new every day. Always struggled with tweezers and those springs. Will try the peg wood.
Thanks for watching and commenting John! That’s great, let me know how you go, hopefully it’s easier for you 😁👍🏼
The way I was taught was to spin much slower than your show in your video. For one thing there less risk of damaging or scratching parts. Or, losing parts!
Interesting, thanks for the advice Douglas appreciate it 😁
great video, now I want to go and fire up my cleaning machine and clean something
Hahah that’s awesome to hear Pete! You should do it!! 🔥 😄
What they are? Devilspawn.
Very nice. I'm looking forward to your next watchmaking video every day.
Thank you so much, I’m glad you enjoy them and watch them everyday. I will try for everyday, but I’m not sure I can upload weekends consistently. I will do my best 🙏🏼😁
Nice
Thanks, really appreciate your support 😁👍🏼
I think the old name for shock proof would be parachute.
Thanks 😊 Breguet was a genius before his time. It’s amazing to see how much still relies or is drawn out from his inventions and innovations!
Good idea!
Thank you 🙏🏼 😊
Great video Dean. Perhaps you can elaborate on the cleaning solution used? I have great difficulties buying off-the-shelves cleaning solutions in my country.
Thanks for watching and commenting. I do use L&R cleaning fluid and rinsing fluid. There are many articles online about cleaning by hand and the chemicals they use. Sorry I haven’t used anything other than branded watch solutions
Hi, do you think an ultrasonic machine is enough good to clean a movement or a cleaning machine is also needed ?
The aerodynamic properties of the KIF Trior shock springs are mind boggling - it's amazing how far they can fly when they decide to take to the air! I don't have the KIF tool yet so it's always a nerve-wracking process working with them. I think KIF Trior flying technology are what powers UFO's. A question - de-natured alcohol, or what we call methylated spirits - does it affect the shellac on pallet forks and impulse jewels at all? Thanks for the vid, Dean - much appreciated.
Nice and simple. I like it!
Thanks Ken I’m glad you like it 😁😁
