I'm a consultant and for the last 22 years, I've flown each week, pretty much all over the place. Funny thing, I still get nervous when we hit some medium chop (I'm not even talking the big stuff). Just something that comes with the job. A handful of years back, I had the amazing opportunity to take my Grandfather (God rest his soul) on a trip. An hour or so into the flight we hit some mild chop and the plane bounced a bit (really nothing much), but I still nonchalantly reach for my armrest and hold tight. My Grandfather asks me, "son, what the hell are you doing?". "Old habits" I told him. He said, "in the war, we flew busted planes full of holes while shrapnel from anti aircraft blasted us over and over. We are on a multi-million dollar plane that has backups for backups - and nobody is shooting at us. We are going to be just fine".
turbulence rules, especially the kind that makes you go weightless for a second its quite fun to me. For some reason I dont have any fear when flying. I know some people it paralyzes them.
WOW that should have been more than nerve wrecking for your G father. getting shot after shot thinking when the one coming and kill us all. WOW just thinking i got shivers.
Luna Harselli, yep, not my proudest trait. A few months back, one of my consultants had a bad day with a client, and she was pretty upset. She was on the same flight with me back to Dallas and we were on a regional jet flying through some pretty big clouds, although not the worst weather - but of course enough for me to engage the armchair death grip. I was trying so hard to keep my focus on her story and to listen well, but I kind of fell short. Had to apologize and explain my little secret. Rather embarrassing.
I'm terrified of turbulence , takeoff , landing , going through clouds , climbing to altitude , descent , taxiing , going to the lavatory , going near the door , trusting my life to anyone in the cockpit , trusting my life to air traffic control, anti terrorism security detail , defying gravity , heights , wing flaps not being put in takeoff position to takeoff, unmaintained jack screws , rudders , in flight instrument panels, engine's staying in their pylons, pilots that do not complete pre flight checklists, pilots that consume alcohol , pilots that let their children sit in the pilots seat, windsheer, maintenance workers with bad attitude's , financial cutbacks to staffing levels of air traffic controllers , wake turbulence, AND impatient immature egotistical cranky arrogant pilots like 1977 tenerife disaster captain Van Zanten - mr. KLM " we goin " who killed almost 600 people cause he was in a hurry and did not follow protocol. So , I don't fly.
Everytime the plane would make a descent, I swear I can feel my stomach dropping along with it. You know, that sudden spike of fear when you feel that you're getting lifted up from your seat when the plane would descend.
Rudy Braun flying is safe, trust me. It is not 100% secure but nothing in the world is. Check out my other videos, they are smooth and will make you want to fly!!
Mireille Brown flying is safe, not to mention the fact that the view is astonishing. I have flown many times and never experienced this type of turbulence, I'm sure you will have wonderful flights!
The moment I see clouds outside the window, I panic like hell :( & you definitely don`t wanna be sitting next to me when the aircraft`s experiencing turbulence :(
Jehangir Khan really? You should try the seats on the corridor! It will be better if you're afraid to look outside the window. Turbulence it's like a bumpy road, you will start to ignore it after some turbulent flights
My biggest fear about going through turbulence isn't that the plane will crash but that I will have a heart attack or panic attack. I have travelled to 126 countries. Have taken many flights and had some extreme turbulence and still survived. It never gets easier.
a couple weeks ago I was flying above the Alps and we went through some pretty rough turbulence. As it started the flight attendants ran to their seats, even they got a bit scared. It lasted for quite a long time too (25+ minutes). I have never, ever in my life had such a terrible experience on a plane (and I have been flying regularly since I was a kid). This was not the usual turbulence... Someone in the front row got a panic attack but he was further away from me, I haven't seen him, but cannot imagine how terrifing it was for him. I have never had a panic attack and I knew I would not have one, but I was really dizzy and almost threw up.
I had a flight experience I will never EVER forget. I was flying from Toronto to Germany on a stormy night (thunder, dark clouds, rain, you get it). It was Air Canada, the take off was smooth, and we reached the clouds and went IN the clouds. You can see the lightning, and then all of a sudden the entire plane just drops what felt like 50 ft ALL at once. My heart sank to my stomach, I held on tight to the seat, and the other passengers screaming did not make me feel any better lol. After that shock we had several drops too, but not as strong as that one. I remember an old lady fainted and a doctor had to stay with her for the entire flight, which was 7 hours. I actually thought this was my last day lmao, but we managed! Didn’t fly for 2 years after that! I’m not as scared now, but turbulence always seemed to disquiet me, even though I know that it won’t affect the plane.
No idea why they keep putting us passengers through it, flying in bad weather is almost always a disquieting experience, and perhaps is actually risker as well. Why not reschedule or reroute the flight...
if it makes you feel any better, plans drop 100ft pretty commonly in turbulence! and also turbulence hasn’t caused a plane to go down in over 40 years! we’ve come a long way in air travel safety.
@@ISMY27 ahah it actually makes me even more anxious! like don't spill coffee on me! I want to tell them go to your seat you are supposed to be seated!
Happened to me once flying to Hawaii. Stewardesses just started serving dinner when we hit some turbulence. Those of us who were served, found their meal dumped. Dinner service stopped and announced it would be delayed. Turbulence did not let up for the rest of the flight and we were not served...not that we wanted it anyway.
What is even more fun is when you take off during a thunderstorm and trying to gain altitude when the pilot comes on and says "well folks gonna try and bust through this hang on."
Yeah, but I will tell you this .... The WORST turbulence I have ever experienced was CLEAR AIR turbulence, on a cloudless day, flying over Switzerland ... thank God, in a Swissair jet!
The levelling off is completely normal after takeoff, the pilots would be following a standard instrument departure which has a specific route and altitude restrictions. For example this one may require you to level off at 6000 feet and await further climb clearance. It feel to you as a passenger that you’re descending briefly because your inner ear has ‘reset’ whilst climbing and thinks you’re level so when you actually level off you feel it as descent. Your inner ear does the same again after a small amount of time actually being in level flight. This is why aircraft instruments are incredibly important to a pilot, you cannot trust your inner ear (how things feel) whilst flying through clouds etc. Nothing odd about this takeoff at all and you experienced a little turbulence due to changes in air density as you passed through a cumulus cloud. Happy Flying!
This made me so happy because my last flight I thought we where decending and I panicked for a whole 3hours and you have made me feel so much better already thank you so much!
@@ISMY27 No longer true dear. Everything changed after 911. I have even been off and in another state for my BIRTHDAY, and had to walk out of the dinner to come home to Fl. For a flight. Stressful, no cleaning paid for like before for uniforms, long delays, no 5 star hotels, no food allowance.... And...you only get paid in the air. You dont get paid for when on the plane for cleaning, checking, turning planes over. You may land and go to your room hungry, if all is closed, and you may never see anything but the inside of an airport while turning around and heading back to cut thru a cloud for hurricanes....in a place like bahamas.....lots of lows, gone ate days of luxury
I do. Sadly i am a pakistani living in US and in order for me to go back and forth i need to fly for over 19 hours. I have height phobia and i feel like dying the moment the plane takes off. This is so terrifying to even imagine getting killed in a plane crash :-(
This kind of turbulence results from swirling currents of air around a thunderstorm (updrafts and downdrafts). This was more than light. More like moderate.
I was on a short (c. 1hr) domestic flight recently and we were bouncing all over the place. Everyone was terrified... except for the three-year-old in the row in front of mine, who was watching a video on an iPad and thought it was all a bit of fun. Bit of a lesson there, I think. Our fear of what we think is going to happen is the worst part of turbulence.
The heaviest turbulence I experienced was on a short flight, Dublin to London. Shunted back, forth & sideways & all the rest: I remember in particular the flight attendants' iron grip on the trollies. The presence however of a South African paratrooper beside me laughing with enjoyment took the edge off a bit.
We are very aware thats why.one engineer suggested learning about planes to get rid of the fear.now im aware how many things can go wrong and im even more scared
Same here....I always check the weather, I won't get on if a storm is happening. I even get nervous when I book the flight thinking "I hope it doesn't storm this day".
@@taragreenwood2275 I've had 3 bad experiences in stormy weather, one coming from Puerto Rico to Detroit I though I was gonna die! Everything was banging the plane was dropping and it was dark! In situations like that nothing else matters! I always tell myself "stick to road trips"
Had a very unpleasant flight two months ago. Pretty short one, but bouncing for an hour and 40 minutes was not the greatest thing a person can have. Even tho my dad works around planes for 35 years and I know that turbulence does not cause an aircraft to fall out of the sky it was still frustrating. Autumn is definitely not the best time to catch a plane. Stay safe!
For anyone that is afraid of flying, jus remember some of these pilots have been training for years and years to get where they are now . Pilots are incredible people that can solve life or death situations in seconds, jus remember that they wouldn't do anything that they believe isn't safe
I am a terrified flyer. That plane goes bump and I immediately think of anyting 80-proof and higher and make it a double and I don't even drink!!You handled that turbulence with the grace and dignity of a human being.. nicely done 👌
You do the exact same thing I do and unfortunately for me it doesn't work. I always take two drama mean and a double shot of Jameson and it's cool at the beginning of the flight but in the middle and if it hits any turbulence it's like I didn't take anything at all so the next step for me is probably hypnosis
This is not heavy turbulence. This is light possibly the low end of moderate at 6.35. Turbulence is grouped into 4 categories. Light, Moderate, Heavy and Extreme. There are very few pilots who have experienced extreme. Extreme turbulence causes a loss of control of the aircraft and is only usually found in very large storm clouds which are avoided by all aircraft. Heavy turbulence is very very rarely experienced by even experienced pilots. It usually requires proactive control of the plane and will not be experienced by probably 95% of air passengers in their lifetime. The vast majority of that "bad" turbulence you hit during a flight that you tell your friends about will be moderate turbulence at most. Light, Moderate and even Heavy turbulence don't pose a risk to the aircraft structure.
Turbulence doesn't scare me in the same way like my fear of wasps of anything. I know it's safe and I think of it like driving along a bumpy road. Turbulence scares me in the same way that I'd be scared about going on a rollercoaster. I hate the feeling that a rollercoaster gives you, the same feeling you get with turbulence.
This isn’t heavy...but it is decent. Turbulence is just not very pleasant. Just have to think of it as big potholes in a road. You’re gonna flop around, and it’s startles you, but you’re totally safe. It’s more possible you can be injured by a pothole driving a car, than crash or get injured in a plane. Just stay buckled up even when the fasten seatbelt sign is off. Relax, and try to just stay calm. It won’t last forever, and the pilots know what they’re doing. Trust them. 🙂
Harris Party of Eight Yep Back in 2014 Malaysian air craft vanished in to thin air and recently Ethiopian air craft crashed killing over 200 passengers !!! We got trust issues
I'm okay with shaking and all except that falling feeling. Makes me hold my breath and squeeze everything I can hold on to, in short, I hate that feelin. The first time I experienced it was like the end of me. It's like this is it! after 19 years of existence, this is it! lmao. This was 6 years ago. I was crazy lmao
You weren't crazy. I hate that feeling as well because I don't like roller coasters and I don't like heights. I freak out a little bit and look to the person next to me and they're chilling watching a video and reading a paper and I get so jealous
The pilots were adjusting altitude and speed to try to find as uniform a density of air as possible. They get reports from previous pilots as how heavy turbulence is at certain altitudes, so they do their best to avoid unstable pockets experienced by other pilots right before them.
Absolutely. I used to hyperventilate and get into a cold sweat during turbulence. Not any more. Now, it's just freaking irritating, especially when I'm trying to catch up on Z'sssss.
Jr132 Awesome comment. I hate flying. I’m almost positive the “not being in control” is what Scares me the most. For some reason turbulence actually calms me down. I was told it’s like bumps in the road. And that relaxes me.
I fly relatively frequently and have experienced turbulence on many different levels over the years… some nasty spots were over the pacific and South China Sea areas - dropping sensations just out of the blue… to just rough bumpy rides. The other day I was flying out of Sydney and I have to admit it even made me feel… like woah this feels sketchy … the plane was rocking back and forward and bumping with loud thumps… doesn’t help when people yelp as that insights fear in others… understandably that Is something that is a natural response from some. I thought maybe there were some cowboys flying the plane.. but there was laughter and looks of wide eyes around the cabin after the experience… even I turned to my neighbour and had a chuckle.. I like it when the captain announces why we experienced the turbulence… helps me process this uneasy feeling and prepares me better for future similar experiences.
It is going through some storm cloud, with no space to avoid. Once flying from Hanoi to BKK, pilot kept seat belt on during very clear skies. Then suddenly increasing altitude rapidly, we were tossed around, but then rest of the flight was very smooth. One layer of air mass was very turbulent which we passed quickly by rapid ascent. Pilots really do the best to minimize turbulence experience for passengers.
The worst turbulence i ever felt is also when i took off from Shanghai to KL couple months ago. The turbulence was so horrible all the passengers screamed their lungs out (including me). Now i’m afraid of flying, well, i still fly, but if it’s still possible to use another transportation like car, bus or train, i will avoid the plane.
Great catch! Would you be okay with me featuring this in an episode of Weekly Dose of Aviation? Of course you will be credited both in the video and in the description.
It will likely happen if you fly enough. The more you can educate yourself about airline safety, then the safer you’ll feel. As a nervous flyer myself, who has gone through severe turbulence and has had a plane struck by lightning, it’s good if you have ways to distract yourself… and for me, a glass of wine always helps.
Not me. I prefer to be plastered ( drunk won't do it) and a few tranquilizers , also a morning flight with that, so I don't sleep knowing the terror is coming so then I pass out, because I certainly can't sleep.
Honestly, I get scared whenever turbulence occurs. What I usually do during this time is, I try to focus on the flight attendants who ever are serving or walking freely, then I kind of feel relaxed because, I say to myself that they are normal so there is nothing wrong to the airplane or get scared of. I am a frequent flyer but till date I get scared of shakey planes.😜
You shouldn’t necessarily look at them for reassurance because for 1. They will always try their best to appear calm, even if they know something you don’t. And 2. In the off chance that they appear distressed, well now you’re really going to be scared.
In the entire 8 and a half hour flight from Manila to Riyadh I've been praying repeatedly especially when we hit a strong turbulence all over Bengal sea and India. I had experienced a sudden fall of merely 100 ft.last May in a local flight (1 hr and 30 mins) .
The worse turbulence I’ve had was over Lake Tahoe in the winter flying a small Cherokee 180. I fought to keep my altitude and heading. It was treating us like a dogs chew toy. I been lucky to actually fly a plane in bad turbulence. A pilot in 1991 told me just pretend your on a bumpy hilly country road. So since then it doesn’t bother me.
Well as a pilot- There is no fancy maneuver that he performed, he got a clearance to climb to a certain altitude from atc, and then he climbed. Those clouds look like cumuliform clouds and turbulence can be expected underneath and inside of them. Otherwise nothing abnormal, and you have no idea whether the autopilot was on or off because your not in the cockpit.
Last year we flew from Brisbane (Australia) to Los Angeles, then straight on through to Charlotte, North Carolina. We actually flew through Hurricane Florence, which hit land as a category 1 Hurricane. Now, that was what I considered turbulence 😪😪😪
Just being reading through some comments on your page and some passenger pilots I like to call them are not entirely correct ..The aircraft does not “drop” as passengers like to say., up on the flight deck my altimeter barley moves + / - 50 ft. Secondly, ATC will never send an aircraft straight into turbulence immediately after TO. Thirdly, depending on where you depart from there are speed restrictions that are observed and not necessarily slowing down for max turbulence penetration speed also if I deem the weather to be not suitable for flying, that aircraft will not leave the ground until it is safe to do so. Lastly, the FMC (Flight Management Computer) will go from Take Off to climb mode at about 1500 ft and will adjust the N1 (engine fan speed) as a percentage.
I had encountered one bad turbulence in 1993, while I was returning from Singapore's Changi Airport- the plane was at 36000 feet altitude and it started shaking due to heavy turbulance and there are lightening as well -
som when the thrust lowers, and the plane kind of levels out, but is still climbing, it's just called 'acceleration', so the plane has enough speed to climb to the cruising altitude. nothing to worry about. :-)
Just had turbulence today in cloudy weather. The plane sank for like 20ft in a second, thats the worst feeling in all of this. Freefalling is the worst part of turbulence
Light to moderate turbulence. Severe turbulence is far worse. Interesting how the engines drop RPM through the cloud bank. Might have been coincidence but it seemed that there was some water ingestion or enough disturbance of airflow that was enough to momentarily cause loss of ignition. Love seeing the wings flex when it gets bumpy.
The fear is so real that I am ready to drive those 12 hours than take a 2 hours flight. I end up spending more on fuel and stays but who cares, I reached safe 😅. It’s been 3 years now and I still drive or catch a train to my destinations , ofcourse domestic.
I was on a flight from Vegas last month, i held the seat in front of me because there was so much turbulence. But almost all turbulence are harmless. Still scary.
In pilot language these are light turbulences. Moderate turbulence usually you have a few people screaming. Which I understand as I get more and more uncomfortable the more i fly.
I took a flight to Dallas. I can't believe the pilot actually came on the PA system and said we are going to be landing in Dallas in about 30 minutes but we are going to have to go through some " chop" to get there. I don't want to hear that when I'm 30 thousand feet in the air. Chop? What exactly does that mean? I just had visions of the plane being quartered and falling into pieces onto the runway. Lol!
The chances of dying in your sleep are significantly higher than dying in an airplane crash. Statistically, the probability of dying in your sleep is much greater, estimated at around 1 in 1,000 annually, while the chance of dying in a plane crash is extremely rare, about 1 in 11 million flights. Conclusion: don't sleep during your flight.
My worst experience was our plane got hit by lightning and we had emergency landing cuz we almost ran out of fuel because the pilot couldn’t find the runway. It was so rainy and dark
I was six and flying from Liberia to London and let me just say it was one of the most scary flights I’ve been in in my life and though I’m young I have been on many.So mid flight, the plane just started flying nose down it was like that for 5 seconds, then in just shot right back up and a women even shouted”MY KIDS” and my mum was screaaaaming
Good video. For your reference, in aviation and meteorology, turbulence is characterized as light, moderate, severe and extreme. There's no "heavy". I'd say for the last minute you had continuous light and occasional moderate, but it's very hard to tell watching a video. Cheers
6:17 - it seems like a lot of flights in China level off at around 10,000 before they get clearance to climb higher. I’ve noticed this on flights out of Beijing before.
I had a very rough experience with turbulence way back in 2002 or 2003. I was flying between Stockholm and Gothenburg in Sweden so almost an hour flight. Everything was going pretty smooth up until the landing in Gothenburg. I don't think it was a storm that day because when we landed it was pretty ok weather. But on the way to land it started to shake a lot and much turbulence was going on. I remember being very uneasy and the whole experience was very scary - at least for me, because I was about 13 or 14 years old by the time. Anyway we made it down safely and alive lol but that experience was probably the most intense in my life up until then and I stopped flying for nearly 20 years! That was up until 2021 when I finally decided to meet that fear again!
before this video here I was watching an explanation from an American Airline pilot (posted by WSJ). He explained the 4 major turbulence causes and wake turbulence is one of them. Here, if you land too closely after another plane, you get into the air stream wake coming from the plane's wings in front of your plane. Like a wake of a big boat in water, they get bigger with distance, so the following plane can experience shaking. The pilot also said that they are easily avoidable by deviating +/- 50 feet.
Turbulence, however heavy, is extremely rarely an issue. Of course it can feel uncomfortable but as long as the airplane don't bank like 60 degrees, as well as lose significant engine thrust, there is absolutely nothing to worry about.
"Does anyone know what type of maneuver is the pilot doing?" Answer: Likely the pilot was slowing (or maintaining) the aircraft's airspeed appropriate for turbulence penetration, what we call "maneuvering speed" or "Va," and it is a speed based on aircraft weight. Max weight will have a higher Va speed, and as the aircraft becomes lighter (burning fuel) the Va speed will also be lower. Note that Va speed is different for every aircraft type. Flying through turbulence at higher speeds than the aircraft's Va can cause structural damage, and if severe enough, structural failure; not a good thing. Seeing the wings bounce up and down during turbulence (or "rough air" as the airlines like to say euphemistically) is actually a good thing . . . proper airspeed and bouncing wings (which kinda act like shock absorbers) keep people safe and the aircraft in one piece. Aircraft are thoroughly tested and stronger than many think!
Returned from the Maldives in November 2019... (what a holiday!) we had to take a small internal flight from the capital to our island which was around 20 minutes long on a small propeller plane. We took off and flew directly through thick cumulus clouds the entire flight dropping violently people screaming most of the way. I understood quickly why they came around prior to takeoff with cold wet flannels for your face 😂😅 very nerve racking!
I'd rate that turbulence as light to medium at best. In 50+ years of jet travel I've seen some horrific clear air turbulence and cloud related too. There's not much wing movement which is a good indicator of how rough the turbulence is, nor are the overhead lockers opening from the violence. Really rough turbulence usually ends in injured pax who didn't get their seatbelts on quick enough. I once watched a guy get bounced off the ceiling and he looked like he'd been 15 rounds with Mike Tyson.
After many years of flying I have a simple rule. If there is no ketchup or wine on the ceiling, it's not turbulence. Severe turbulence is a flight attendant pinned to the ceiling.
When i was a kid... I used to love going on airplane.. but as i getting older ... I am really scared of plane.. like... just a little shaking..I pray and shut my eyes...
My plane take off when it was raining cats and dogs. The turbulence I faced seems like plane will be in parts very soon. It activated my thyroid problem and increased my BP. It has taken 3 months to recover.
This was posted 2 years earlier. But for a fact (what i learnt from easyJet documentary) 1.The captain makes an climb to try to quickly climb above to clouds where there will be less turbulence. 2. For the full thrust of the engines, more speed, less turbulence. Dont worry, im also scared of turbulence but its well. Wont crash because of it. And the woman at the back of the video tho.....
I love it when there's turbulence gives the adventure a little bit more excitement lol I just flown back 2 days ago though a thunder storm best thing I have ever witnessed 😄
This looks like an A330. I don't think I've flown one, but apparently the wings don't flex as much as other large aircraft and therefore doesn't handle turbulence as well.
Turbulence used to really bug me but I was fortunate enough the last 3 years to work as an aircraft fueler. Our hydrant carts are extremely rough rides and I used to get motion sick and just terribly nauseated for months at work. About a year and a half into the job me and the wife flew to Florida and on the way home to Toronto we hit some really bad chop. Didn't bother me one bit now I think the problem is people are scared for different reasons. Some people its purely a fear of crashing, others its the feeling.or.both. My best advice is just remember that on modern jetlimers, turbulence has never brought a plane down. You're at more risk of capsizing in a cruise ship on the ocean than crashing.due to turbulence in an aircraft.
Reading the description, reminds me when I flew from Jakarta to Kuala Lumpur, it was about to rain, black clouds were everywhere, they tried to climb higher and higher & i guess in 5 minutes or so we were already above the clouds. The maneuver & turbulence was quite 'wild'. Steep climb then crazy right turn, my mom said 'what is wrong with the pilot? This is a commercial airplane not a bomber plane' 😂😂
I hope that pilots understand our feeling when they call us to calm down during trubelance ( we are not afraid of falling down ) but scared of sudden fall ( there is big difference )
1. Why does the engine sound like it’s struggling when going through the clouds? 2. How can turbulence NOT be able to take a plane down? It’s extremely hard to believe. When there’s severe turbulence, how do the pilots maintain control of the aircraft? How does the engine/wing stay intact? How does the force of the turbulence not overpower the drive and power of the engine? This video makes me sick to my stomach. I have such an awful fear of flying- complete sense of loss of control. I don’t think I’ll ever be able to overcome it and it saddens me.
1) the way an engine runs is by air intake, therefore with the changes in air density you travel through the clouds, the engine is bound to struggle a little bit by the sound. But just to reassure, only higher air pressures comprise the engines ability to take in air( which comes with higher altitudes) 2) the way an airplane is stucutred( faraday cage) and in combination with aeoridynamic allows to plane to remain in tact. There are surface control items like trim which help the pilots with control over the plane. Other than that, they use mostly autopilot which does get you very far. These engines have a bough power to lift tonnes of mass off the ground, therefore any turbulence is considered nothing really. They are very powerful machines.. don’t let it scare you. Aircrafts are quiet extraordinary!
Would you be okay with me featuring this in an episode of Airplane Flight Compilations? Of course you will be credited both in the video and in the description.
flew once 9 years ago and I cant forget the turbulance experience. Thought its my last day 😂 and I will be on my second flight in 3 months... feels like the first again ..
Those few bumps were not severe turbulence. Sitting just forward of the wing you can not “hear” the pilots “turning off” the autopilot. In fact, you can’t hear it if you are in the first row. What you heard was a change from takeoff power to climb power. And the leveling off flat was because they were cleared to a specified altitude. The next climb was following further clearance to a higher altitude. Remember, the guys in the cockpit want to go home at the end of their day, just like you. If fact, they love themselves a hell of a lot more than they love you. So keeping that in mind, you are safe. I know, I’m one of them.
Little reminder for anyone flying , once you go into the clouds you usually get turbulence, but once the plane gets over the clouds most times the turbulence stops
@6.35 is like what happened to us during a British airways take-off slightly before the 2 Max8 crashes. I'm not sure we flew a max8 or not. I couldn't even trace that flight.
Once my friend, my co-passenger, advised me to try jumping while seated during turbulence. So your body get in sync with the abrupt shaking and you may not feel the turbulence. I kinda liked the logic. I did that and got a scolding from airhostess. That bugger didn't jump though. But it kinda was bit fun except for the embarassment part.
It was a good suggestion though, I tried that when we went through turbulence and it's hard because your seatbelt is holding you down and your legs get really really tired when you're pushing into the bottom like that trying to jump with the drops. It's really hard to go to the bathroom during this time but I'd rather be standing during turbulence than sitting but like you said the flight attendants rip into you

When there’s turbulence I’m scared but if the seatbelt light is off and there are people serving food I feel better xD
Same feelings 😊
Me too🤣🤣
Me too...
Me too bro
Me too
Nobody:
Me when there's turbulence: Lord please forgive me for all my sins 😭🙏
Every time
There’s no rest 😭
how i miss that moment
Me too 😭😭😭
THATS ME TOO! :D
Me watching this: meh, cowards, turbulences are normal.
Me, on a plane, with the slightest move: oooh no, this is it, we’re going down. 😂
Ahahahah Thanks my friend!
So true😂
😂😂
Stop being a coward
I'm terrified of turbulence and I don't start relaxing until they come collect the trash and close to landing!
lol me too...I'm only relaxed when i see that we are descending for landing
Funny thing is most accidents happen on takeoff/landing, so pretty much when you are starting to relax you should be alert :D
A plane will basically never crash becuase of Turbulence so you should not be terrified 😁

I think the same thing! Every time, I’m like, “welp this is it. We’re goin down”
Ha ha... same shit 😂 I get this feeling every time I fly.
This feeling goes to everyone in plane mostly the Male
Everytime the plane would make a descent, I swear I can feel my stomach dropping along with it. You know, that sudden spike of fear when you feel that you're getting lifted up from your seat when the plane would descend.

If you press your feet against the ground harder it reduces the effect a bit, not by much but it feels more like surfing downwards and not falling.

What's your favourite country?
Same for me bro
Had some heart wrenching moments when the plane was in a storm and fell 20m down like it was nothing
Same here. I'm scared I'll have an heart attack mid flight from being scared and there won't be any help around coz we are on a plane
Cn relate to it 😷...
a couple weeks ago I was flying above the Alps and we went through some pretty rough turbulence.
I hope you have smoother flights in the future :)
Xanax helps
Such a horror story u have.
Can I get a like if the turbulence always seems to come when they serve the food.

Dinner service stopped and announced it would be delayed. Turbulence did not let up for the rest of the flight and we were not served...not that we wanted it anyway.
Clouds = turbulence. Dark clouds = more turbulence. Dark clouds during takeoff = even more turbulence.
Ahah nice summary
What is even more fun is when you take off during a thunderstorm and trying to gain altitude when the pilot comes on and says "well folks gonna try and bust through this hang on."
Brace=
Yeah, but I will tell you this .... The WORST turbulence I have ever experienced was CLEAR AIR turbulence, on a cloudless day, flying over Switzerland ... thank God, in a Swissair jet!
@@SuiGenerisAbbie yep, those are worse

This kind of turbulence results from swirling currents of air around a thunderstorm (updrafts and downdrafts). This was more than light. More like moderate.

Thank you for the knowledge, have a nice day.
It seems you have watched that pilot guy's video on youtube.

Trust them. 🙂

The pilots were adjusting altitude and speed to try to find as uniform a density of air as possible. They get reports from previous pilots as how heavy turbulence is at certain altitudes, so they do their best to avoid unstable pockets experienced by other pilots right before them.

It’s normal to all the planes, planes supported to shake when into the cloud, don’t even worry a bit, enjoy
GARY LIU thank you for your kind comment!

You shouldn’t necessarily look at them for reassurance because for 1. They will always try their best to appear calm, even if they know something you don’t. And 2. In the off chance that they appear distressed, well now you’re really going to be scared.
That's actually a question on an emotional intelligence quiz I took.

There is no fancy maneuver that he performed, he got a clearance to climb to a certain altitude from atc, and then he climbed. Otherwise nothing abnormal, and you have no idea whether the autopilot was on or off because your not in the cockpit.

bro all imma say is that turbulence isnt even that bad considering its raining and the sky is full of clouds
Just being reading through some comments on your page and some passenger pilots I like to call them are not entirely correct
..The aircraft does not “drop” as passengers like to say., up on the flight deck my altimeter barley moves + / - 50 ft.

I understood quickly why they came around prior to takeoff with cold wet flannels for your face 😂😅 very nerve racking!
I hope you have smoother flights in the future :)
Clouds clouds clouds light turbulence but i love your video!!!!!!!!!!!!! Thank you for sharing!!!!!!!
Thanks for your kind comment! :) Safe flights
Takeoff starts at 3:00
Thanks for sharing it with us. Do you like flying? Safe flights :)
@@ISMY27 Thanks for the kind comment. Yes indeed, I love flying. Best of luck with the channel! Cheers.
I once watched a guy get bounced off the ceiling and he looked like he'd been 15 rounds with Mike Tyson.
skepticalvision thanks for sharing it with us!
skepticalvision
Yes this is a small bump big ones plane will go up and down left and right
The passengers feel differently
well it was probably scary for the people mom he flight, so we don’t need your fake life story here
After many years of flying I have a simple rule. If there is no ketchup or wine on the ceiling, it's not turbulence. Severe turbulence is a flight attendant pinned to the ceiling.
Any one here watching during Corona time
@feily phang yep ahah
I neglected to say that the filming was excellent, looks professional. My fear of flying over road my appreciate of this vlog.
K Butler thank you my friend! Flying is amazing, just enjoy it! If you ever come to Algarve, just let me know!
When i was a kid... I used to love going on airplane.. but as i getting older ... I am really scared of plane.. like... just a little shaking..I pray and shut my eyes...
@Yoongi's Expensive Parfume I hope you have smooth flights in the future :)
Same hea 😭😭
My plane take off when it was raining cats and dogs. The turbulence I faced seems like plane will be in parts very soon. It activated my thyroid problem and increased my BP. It has taken 3 months to recover.
@NK Upp I hope you have smooth flights in the future :)
I’ve experienced turbulence many times I’m ok with it but sometimes I get a little nervous if it gets very heavy. I enjoyed the video.
I have done Shanghai to Hong Kong on Cathay "Paciic" , but it was on a clear beautiful day.
On a 777?
@@ISMY27 I think it was an A330 if I'm not mistaken
@@DoubleGauss that's awesome. You don't feel lighter turbulence on bigger planes
@@DoubleGauss by the way, I'm A330 biggest fan
This was posted 2 years earlier. But for a fact (what i learnt from easyJet documentary)
1.The captain makes an climb to try to quickly climb above to clouds where there will be less turbulence.
2. For the full thrust of the engines, more speed, less turbulence.
Dont worry, im also scared of turbulence but its well. Wont crash because of it.
And the woman at the back of the video tho.....
@chilli X baboon thank you so much for sharing your knowledge with us! :)
A very clever aeroplane I must say . It is shaking off all the Coronavirus symptoms !
@Kamrul Hassan ahahahaha well said!
Nope, one of the smaller ones. Cannot remember if a A320 or A319. Safe flights :)
Didn't bother me one bit now
I think the problem is people are scared for different reasons. Some people its purely a fear of crashing, others its the feeling.or.both. My best advice is just remember that on modern jetlimers, turbulence has never brought a plane down. You're at more risk of capsizing in a cruise ship on the ocean than crashing.due to turbulence in an aircraft.
I can't fly without taking something to make me sleep through the whole flight. And if we're going down, don't wake me up to tell me!
What do you take because everything I take doesn't work when fear sets in
Diazepam and lots of it. It is sensational.
Ahahaha Thanks for sharing it with us. Do you like flying? You're kind, safe flights :)
I hope that pilots understand our feeling when they call us to calm down during trubelance ( we are not afraid of falling down ) but scared of sudden fall ( there is big difference )
You could have said it no better, it's the fear of that unknown big drop....fear of fear.
@@fredtillman3050 yes 👍
In my experience nothing beats flying from Japan to the US in January. Two hours east of Tokyo is when the show starts.
Thanks for sharing your knowledge with us! Safe flights :)
You'll overcome it trust me. I did
1) the way an engine runs is by air intake, therefore with the changes in air density you travel through the clouds, the engine is bound to struggle a little bit by the sound. But just to reassure, only higher air pressures comprise the engines ability to take in air( which comes with higher altitudes)
2) the way an airplane is stucutred( faraday cage) and in combination with aeoridynamic allows to plane to remain in tact.
In truth, even the worst turbulence won’t move a plane more than 10 feet or so! It’s more feel than real
I recommend checking out Mentour Pilot. He answers and explains the questions you stated above.
Would you be okay with me featuring this in an episode of Airplane Flight Compilations? Of course you will be credited both in the video and in the description.
Hello. Sure, tell me when you upload it :)
flew once 9 years ago and I cant forget the turbulance experience. Thought its my last day 😂 and I will be on my second flight in 3 months... feels like the first again ..
How did your flight go? everything went well?
I hope you had a smooth flight and arrived safely 🙏
@@lenalee5516 me too!
Great video. Liked and subscribed.
Thank you for your kind comment. Safe flights & travels! ✈️
Hello! Thanks for sharing it with us. Safe flights :)
Do you enjoy being a pilot?
Little reminder for anyone flying , once you go into the clouds you usually get turbulence, but once the plane gets over the clouds most times the turbulence stops
I am always scared of flying. Everytime i am taking a plane, i always tell myself ," this is my last fligjt" but thn not
@Mary Jane Callo I hope you have smooth flights in the future :)
@6.35 is like what happened to us during a British airways take-off slightly before the 2 Max8 crashes. I'm not sure we flew a max8 or not. I couldn't even trace that flight.
what sites did you use to track the flight?
Once my friend, my co-passenger, advised me to try jumping while seated during turbulence. So your body get in sync with the abrupt shaking and you may not feel the turbulence. I kinda liked the logic. I did that and got a scolding from airhostess. That bugger didn't jump though. But it kinda was bit fun except for the embarassment part.
I liked that idea!
It was a good suggestion though, I tried that when we went through turbulence and it's hard because your seatbelt is holding you down and your legs get really really tired when you're pushing into the bottom like that trying to jump with the drops. It's really hard to go to the bathroom during this time but I'd rather be standing during turbulence than sitting but like you said the flight attendants rip into you
I don’t relax until I get to my hotel after a turbulent flight. Usually the taxi rides are more freighting 😂😂😂
Id rather have turbulence with clouds rather than during clear sky. It makes me nervous cause i always thought the plane is broken hahaha
The same here ahaha
