I was on anthem of the seas in Jan 2022, we royal up’d from a balcony to the owners suite for $700 each. Also we did get 4x the points. We ended up with 36 points for a 9 day voyage.
Awesome!!! Gotta love royalup. They don’t automatically give it to everyone but I have heard stories of people getting extra lucky like yourself! I took advantage of that double points trick on sailings after COVID too! It was amazing, hit diamond after 9 cruises I believe. But I went solo in order to get quad points. :) happy cruising!!!
I just got upgraded and think I could have gotten it for less as I’m less then 40 days out. That said I only bid what was a “deal” on the room from what I was gonna pay originally. Now I only bid very minimal amount on the sky class because if I got it I knew I could afford it and it would have been like hitting the lottery. We can’t wait to sail again and are super stoked we got our upgrade for so much less then if we booked it in the first place!
Yes you’re possibly right!!! I usually put in a really low offer when the bids first get released since I’ve noticed they royalup in waves, it’s possible to get one for cheap while they still have lots of availability. Happy cruising!!!
I booked yesterday on the Allure of the Seas Royal "Suite Class Guarantee". This is for May 14 of 2023. I just learned about Royal up today. What are my chances and the odds?
If you already booked a guarantee suite than I would say 90% of the time you get a junior suite. I’ve heard people rarely getting owners suites but it’s unlikely so I would definitely put bids in on any of the other categories you might want to get upgraded to. Goodluck and happy bidding 😆
20+ cruises and have never won a Royal Up. Just tried again last month for cruise...same reason I don't go into the casino I never win. Still can't figure out how some bid the min and win, but I bid above it and don't. Good thing I always select a cabin I want, in a location I want so I'm not too disappointed.
Oh wow so sorry to hear that. I honestly wonder how some people don’t get it ever and others have much easier times. Maybe I just have a focus on less popular sailings than you! Who knows, thank you for the comment and support. And I’m glad you always make sure you get the bare minimum you’d appreciate so you’re never disappointed!
I'm sorry to hear that. I have heard its been much more competitive as of late. Hopefully you'll get lucky soon, or maybe just go ahead and get the upgrade before sailing :P I always like to watch for any price drops and call of course :)
I just found this out that they did this today ! So if a ocean view balcony is set at $150 at the lowest would you say bid at $160? What are the chances or bid higher? And if I don’t get the ocean view would they consider me for another bid or bid all over again ? Thank you so much for making this video !
Yes they will consider you for all bids that you put one in for! I don’t know how they determine who wins what but it definitely helps your chances of receiving an upgrade! If the minimum was $150 and you just want a decent chance of something $160 or $175 sounds like a good idea but if I was more adamant of not wanting my interior room because it was a 6 or 7 night we or something I would just make the jump to $205 to beat all the $200 bidders :)

@@sariel8406 on my last cruise i was lucky they gave me a good balcony. if i dont like the one they gave me will check with the hotel manager on ship to see what he can do for me
What’s the purpose of this bidding thing if your required to bid so high why don’t you just pay the price Royal Caribbean is asking for since you aren’t really saving money with the Royal up program or just contact customer service they may give you a good discount if you ask nicely and it’s available
I’ve upgraded for $50-250 from interior to balconies that would’ve normally cost a difference of upwards of $300+ if I had booked it outright as a balcony. It’s not always a great deal. But for many the prices are reasonable when asked to bid. But I agree with you that sometimes the prices are so outrageous it is better to just call Royal and make the adjustment, that’s why you have to be active and check both once you get to see your Royal up options. I’ve Royal upped on 4/6 of my last cruises and also called to make an upgrade on one because it was only $27.00. Hit or miss every time unfortunately. Thank you so much for commenting and happy cruising!
Definitely keep checking back on royals booking agent because I was able to upgrade to a neighborhood balcony for $27 on my upcoming harmony of the seas and it was over $200 to royal Up for that one!!!
I booked a Guarantee Neighborhood Balcony on Allure. Then I placed my bids on Royal Up. A few weeks later I noticed the rate went down by several hundred dollars. I called and they upgraded me to a Ocean View Balcony. Will I receive an updated list of cabins to bid on since I was upgraded to a Ocean View Balcony? When I was booked with the Guarantee Neighborhood Balcony the highest cabin I could bid on was a Jr Balcony Suite.
That’s a great question, it all depends on how far out you are to your sailing and when royal Caribbean gives Royal up the information to do the bidding. But in your case it sounds like you’ve already got yours for awhile so I would guess you aren’t going to receive an updated list for Royal up. You can still win one if you see it available but the one time I upgraded similarly to you they never updated mine unfortunately. Goodluck and happy cruising!!
Is the bid you give per day plus taxes? E.g. if if I bid 100$.. I know is 100 x 2 =200$ but is it per day? Or 200 plus taxes or 200 x7 if is a 7 night cruise = 1400$ ?
do you need to receive email to bid? i tried going the bid website and checked with last name and reservation number but all i'm getting the spinning wheel, please wait while we check for availability, but nothing actually loads
Weird. Try a different device! If you are not yet eligible to bid it usually gives you an error message not a spinning wheel. But no you don’t have to wait for the e-mail technically :) goodluck!
So the bid ends up being the amount on the slider per person total or is it per person per night? For example if you bid $55 in a 2 person room will it be just 110 for the upgrade or 110 per night? Thanks.
Agreed. It is definitely interesting. I guess they see it as them making money either way because years ago they didnt have any sort of formal program. It was just luck and nice people working behind the desk. But like you said they could just "keep all the money" :P
Sorry if you covered it but if you don't get the upgrade, do you still pay the difference or are you just bidding on getting an upgraded room and even if you don't win you still pay the extra?

If you're going solo and upgrade you will still get double. and if you have a suite and upgrade to another suite you will also still get double. Thanks for commenting! Sometimes yes and sometimes no! Best thing to do is just put in your booking # and last name to check starting three or four weeks out. It should open up a few weeks before your sailing if you’re able to bid. If it’s not open and your sailing is less than two weeks away you’re most likely not eligible. Happy cruising!
As soon as you book a cruise through royal or another agency they should automatically enroll you. The only time it wouldn’t work is if you get a deal through certain travel agencies like Sam’s Club or Costco that arent eligible :)
I did bid for all the rooms, fortunately larger balcony room was available i guess, but unfortunately, my payment didnt go through when they initiated. Now when i am trying to update my credit card information, its giving me an error, not sure how to go about it.
If the bid is accepted they will try and charge whatever card is on file immediately, if there’s an issue with the card payment then they will give you 24 hours to provide the updated cc information before releasing your upgrade for another bidder. If it’s not letting you update your information at all. I would guess that’s because they’re about to do a wave of bids and don’t want it having an error during the process. But not entirely sure, sorry! Good luck and happy cruising though :)
Thank you so much for the response. When the payment declined, immediately I got an email requesting me to either speak to the credit card company and make necessary changes so that the transaction is processed and it also requested me to notify once the changes are made or update with new credit card details. I immediately switched on the international credit card usage and notified them through the link. Since they didn’t process anything, I thought ok updating the new credit card, that’s when I got this error. This whole thing happened during Friday. Not sure if Saturday and Sunday are considered holidays and no response from them or should I consider that I lost the bid 😊
@@viveka6073 wow yeah that’s a tough one! I don’t know. Did you see what happens if you go try and enter new credit card information, either yesterday or today? I’m assuming the link is expired? My fingers are crossed for you!
@@OhanaVlog I tried entering it yesterday night, which is 24 hrs after notifying them that my earlier credit card details are updated to process an international transaction. When is your cruise? You will know you got it when all the other bids you placed except for one gets cancelled. If you only placed one, then its harder to know for sure.
I honesty don’t know. Some travel agents and places like Costco and Sams club aren’t always eligible so I would assume Expedia may fall into that category! Can’t hurt to try though :)
My family is is 6 ppl so he currently have connecting rooms, but I'd love to upgrade to a suite that sleeps us all. Do you know what would happen to the 2nd state room if our bid is accepted?
If you upgrade one of your rooms to a suite you would no longer have connecting rooms and you will only receive room keys for the names of the people who had their room upgraded although you are obviously welcome to have the other guests sleep in the suite as well without a room key to their name for that room, they will still have their old room. Unfortunately Royal up wasn’t designed for people in your situation so it probably won’t make much sense unless you’re loaded 😊
Just a reminder that bid amounts are multiplied per person. So a bid of $200 becomes $1,200, if all six were in the same room. We are a family of 6 also, and I would be super upset if I forgot to remember to do the multiplication factor! :)
@@jamiekernc9925 you’re right that you definitely don’t want to forget it’s not just for one person, however it’s not per person luckily. Its just x2 for the double occupancy. Whether you’re a solo traveler or four people in a room as well. I hope this helps you @EmersonUpdates
@@jamiekernc9925 That’s not accurate it’s only the first 2 guests in the booking that’s charged when you Royal Up. “Your bid is priced per person and based on two guests per stateroom for the entire length of your cruise. I usually just join the facebook group for the sailing I'm going on for example search the dates of your sailing and the title of the ship you're going on. If it's within a year 99% of cruises have a group that has already been created. Thanks for commenting, and have an amazing cruise!
The 4/4 upgrades what rooms were they? I got grand suites 2 times on freedom of the seas from balcony once for 200$ a person another time for 400$ a person
Now I’ve gone 4/5. The first two were independence. Both from interior to balcony for minimum of like $100 a person but this was back in the beginning of the cruises started coming back. Recently i went on explorer in March and allure in June and had gone from interior to balcony and interior to neighborhood balcony. Again just barely above the minimum maybe 100 pp again. On adventure a couple weeks ago I didn’t get upgraded and had put minimum bids out on almost everything possible
No, unfortunately as soon as they process bids and yours is accepted you’re stuck with it! I would suggest only putting in for what you really want first. And then about a week before go in and add anything else that you would also be happy with. That way you maximize your chances of getting what you want and potentially prevent yourself from not getting anything! Best of luck and thanks for commenting 🙂
Absolutely! You only got charged if and win you when and oftentimes you’ll see the credit card charge before getting the email by a few hours so keep an eye on your activity for that card if you’re really curious :)
Nope you should automatically start getting emails if you used your email address when you bought the cruise. However if you haven't received anything you are welcome to go to Royal Caribbean's website and input your sailing information to check and see what's available. However you won't see options appear until somewhere between 90 and 30 days if you are eligible :) good luck and thanks for commenting!

It should open up a few weeks before your sailing if you’re able to bid. If it’s not open and your sailing is less than two weeks away you’re most likely not eligible. Happy cruising!
@@OhanaVlog thanks for that insight
How do you make sure you get that first email ?
As soon as you book a cruise through royal or another agency they should automatically enroll you. The only time it wouldn’t work is if you get a deal through certain travel agencies like Sam’s Club or Costco that arent eligible :)
What if I'm sailing alone? Do they only charge the RoyalUp fee for one person or do they double it?
Haha, just heard my answer!
Unfortunately you still have to multiply it by 2, solo traveler or not. Just bid what you’re comfortable with!
I didn’t want to update a new credit card details also at the same time, which will only create confusion. Since no action was take by them, I thought of updating it, but I’m getting an error, however the status is still showing as pending where as for the other 2 bids it says expired. Very tricky
Hi guys, i just checked the statice of my bid and it says “pending” is that a good sign ?
When is your cruise? You will know you got it when all the other bids you placed except for one gets cancelled. If you only placed one, then its harder to know for sure.
Thanks for commenting!
If you book thru expedia are you still eligible?
I honesty don’t know. Some travel agents and places like Costco and Sams club aren’t always eligible so I would assume Expedia may fall into that category! Can’t hurt to try though :)
I booked with Expedia and received a bid offer
Thank you for commenting and welcome to the Ohana!
So you only get charged for the first and second guests.” That’s off the RoyalUp site.
How long does it take to see if you win???
Usually all bids will be completed 48 hours before the cruise but they could technically still offer you an upgrade once you’re on the ship
The only thing that keeps me from bidding my luck I would get something In the very front are back of the ship lol
Hahaha it definitely comes with its risks. But in the 5 or 6 times I’ve Royal upped I’ve only gotten screwed by that once actually! Thanks for the comment and for joining the Ohana Travis! 👍
So is it per day per person?
Nope just per person so whatever you bidx2 will be your total :)
@@OhanaVlog thank you so much!!
@@firefistluffy4607 Always here to help!
What’s the name of the Facebook group that you watched for the first round?
I usually just join the facebook group for the sailing I'm going on for example search the dates of your sailing and the title of the ship you're going on. If it's within a year 99% of cruises have a group that has already been created. Thanks for commenting, and have an amazing cruise!
Or you can also look at the Royal Up Royal Caribbean group on facebook. Lot's of people post there too!
@@OhanaVlog thank you for the help! I will do that.
Do minimum bids decrease as cruise date gets closer?
@@JaimeLoyaMinistries I don’t think so
If I bid on 3 different rooms and they accept one do I have an opportunity to say no and see if the other rooms maybe available?
No, unfortunately as soon as they process bids and yours is accepted you’re stuck with it! I would suggest only putting in for what you really want first. And then about a week before go in and add anything else that you would also be happy with. That way you maximize your chances of getting what you want and potentially prevent yourself from not getting anything! Best of luck and thanks for commenting 🙂
If I don't win the bet, they don't charge me, right?
Absolutely! You only got charged if and win you when and oftentimes you’ll see the credit card charge before getting the email by a few hours so keep an eye on your activity for that card if you’re really curious :)
@@OhanaVlog thank you 💕
So do you need to sign up for something to get the emails or do they send it to everyone for the sailing
*Adventure is a Voyager Class, not a freedom class
Thank you so much for the correction! Its hard to keep track with all the ships out there!
Don’t do it, I booked a balcony room and they gave us a chance for an upgrade, for an extra $900. we got a balcony room with maybe one more foot wider room. Never again, we complained and they acted like, what are you going to do? No more RC.
Very fair point. Make sure you’re bidding on rooms that have a significant upgrade for the money!! They can get you with the extra foot of space as a room upgrade on paper but in reality it’s definitely not worth it!!! Appreciate the comment!!!
