@@ElegantiaDulcis Assyrians speak Aramaic not "Assyrian" because there was no language called assyrian. In Ancient times the spoke Akkadian as a native language, when Arameans started to move to major parts of Mesopotamia Aramaic became the Lingua Franca of the middle east and replaced Akkadian and Sumerian and became the Official language and mother tongue of Mesopotamia.
