Kumihimo starter kit: If you are a beginner in kumihimo, I have a starter kit available. It is a great way to get started as it has everything you need to make several pieces and get you going on your kumihimo journey. csldesignsshop.com/products/kumihimo-starter-kit
SHE is simply AMAZING!!! I love the way she makes it all so easy to understand and the pace is perfect! She is an expert so she could just do it fast and hope we get it or keep up but the sign of an excellent educator is one who leaves nothing to chance. I truly appreciate her abilities and love her personality as well. Kudos!! (and thank you!!) ... a new fan
This is so beautifully done I did kumihimo years ago in a gallery setting and was made with a tall loom with beads strung of various colors and designs I never consist wire and did not know if the kumihimp board you are using … very clever and well demonstrated thank you’d much for share your knowledge… stay blessed
you by far are the very best wire work instructor. thank you, you have inspired a part of me that i forgot all about. stay well and blessed. truly fabulous!
I hope you don't ever take any of your videos off you tube! They are all beautiful. I need to follow as I do it. I won't ever remember how thanks for another beautiful job!
Beautiful! thanks for sharing this with us. I’ve tried a regular Kumihimo braid & it was a failure, it work hardened too fast for me. I’m inspired to try your technique!
gorgeous. you totally amaze me. I still haven't tried anything yet, but I will. first I have to find a place that sells that much wire on the spool that wont cost a fortune. thank you so much for sharing
Followed your easy instructions for the hollow wire work kumihimo bracelet. I'm loving it. Going to do this one too. Didn't take me as long as I thought it would. Once I got the hang of it, it was a breeze. Thanks much!! BTW, I used an 8mm bead and dowel because I got a bit confused on the metrics!! hahaha!!
+Jacki Sweetwood So true!!! This week has been VERY stressful, but I started watching these videos tonight. Her lovely voice was sooo soothing that I finally fell asleep : ) Now I'm watching again to see all the great instructions I missed the first time! lol
After I played around with my "makeshift" dowel I was able to get the tension working well. I ended up using a knitting needle with an old metal tape measure attached to the flat end of the knitting needle by a paperclip :) "When there's a will... Loving the process. Thanks for sharing will definally look for more patterns!
Lovely. I love working on my kumiboard. Have not worked with craft wire or tried a hollow design yet. Very informative video. Thanks for the inspiration!
Excellent tutorial you make it look so easy! I will definitely have a go at making this bracelet once I've bought some wire. Thank you for posting of RUclips.
Hey, thanks for sharing!! Maybe a useful tip could be using a drinking straw to quickly loop the connecting wire through the braid without it catching in the braid openings. 😊
To Tammy Pluskett. I can't seem to reply straight to you so I hope you get this. I haven't tried it, but I'm not so sure if it would work that well with it being quite a large gauge of wire, but maybe if you're using a smaller gauge it would be worth a try :-)
Thank you for posting your beautiful work. You make this look so easy with nice tension and very little bending of your wire. I made 12" samples of this pattern with single strands of 22 ga. bronze wire and smaller 'dowel', a coated copper wire. These practice samples made me appreciate your wire work even more. The first sample was abandoned. The second sample was a loose weave. The third sample - I tried to work the tension at the junction of the two wire sections at the dowel to get a tighter weave. Both of the latter samples made beautiful hollow woven tubes. Really like the effect of using the dowel that you suggested in this project as it seems to provide a nicer more even woven wire than I could accomplish before. ( I've tried tighter woven metal kumihimo before with and without beads, but looked too uneven and sloppy.) I have trouble with the wire bending too much when working it, especially when securing to the kumihimo board. Suggestions? I wonder if I make a kumihimo board with soft clamps (3-4 at each direction) to softly hold the wire and winding the wire onto a kumihimo holder would help reduce wire bending, especially for the longer wire for this bracelet or similar project. (Note: I'm familiar with straightening wire (including your great video.))
Hi L Col, There are some "double density" (double thickness) foam Kumihimo boards that may help hold your wires without bending or crimping them. The extra board thickness holds the wire more firmly, because there's more surface contact with the wires. Bead Smith makes them. They're my favorite brand for foam Kumihimo disks as their foam is stiffer than some other brands. There's also a great, 3-roller, wire straightener made by Beadalon. You can find it labeled under their Artistic Wire brand. The rollers are connected at the ends by hinged hardware. You fold the rollers around the bent wire and draw the wire through the rollers. Voila, you have straight wire again. It was designed by their product manager(?) Wyatt White. It's really quick and ingenious. Amazon has it for under $12, and 112 people rated it at 4.4 out of 5 stars. ... Happy wire-work.
Also, make sure that you don't forget to use a good weight on the end of your braid. A weight helps so much to maintain the right tension in your cord and/or wire. I've noticed with the wire that the weight needs to be much heavier than when I use cord. Of course, that may be just me, but I thought that I would remind you anyway, just in case. Good Luck and Happy Creating! May all of your creations be treasures. 🌺
Lovely again. That actually looks a lot easier than it has seemed when I've looked at kumihimo instructions - and not tried it out, LOL! I'm thinking that it might make sense to pull the finished weave through a drawplate to even out the bumps. I don't know if they are made commercially in an appropriate size, but it wouldn't be hard to make one.
To Connor Uliasz. I hope you get this as I can't seem to reply straight to you. Thank you very much. That sounds really lovely. I'm sure she would love anything you would make for her :-)
@redlionforge9173 I know, most of them were too. I'm late for the party 🥳, as always, but I wanted to join in anyway. Thanks for the answer, tho, I really appreciate it. Next time, I'll try not to be so late. I always miss out on all the fun, so thanks again for including me. 😉😁🙃
You are an excellent teacher! I can't wait to try this (as I stay at home because of COVID-19), thanks for giving such clear and easy-to-follow instructions!
4:43 Would using an inch size ball of Blu Tack/ Fimo/ or a half inch deep flat sheet of polystyrene the size of your Kumihimo board be helpful to put the hooped end of the dowel into so that you can fix the dowel in to the centre of the hole so that you can slot your wires in to the correct slots a little bit easier. If a person has tremors or Arthritis in their hands, having the dowel held fixed in the centre while setting up the board could be helpful. 15:30 Would taping the ends of the wire together (placing your coloured wire in the centre if using) with some masking tape help? Maybe adding a small extra strip 1/3-1/2 way down the trio of wires? I thought this may help people that are new to working with wire &/or a Kumihimo board for the first time.
Amazing talent and taste you have, and such a lovely voice! I've used your idea with smaller gauge wire to make embellishment on a period costume and even after learning how to progress played the video to keep me company :)
@@popikoukaki7495 I made my first one also. And, when you make your own, you can make one any size or shape, too. I do like my store bought disk, but making your own is more fun, and cheaper. 🙃
To Empath Cr. I can't seem to reply straight to you, so I hope you get this. I had never heard of that until just recently when someone else mentioned it to me. I've had a little look at it and it looks interesting, but still not entirely sure what it's about :-P

i remember this - the technique used was slightly dfferent as it moved around the circle but it came out with the same if not similar. 'kumihino disk'? need to see where i can get one. nice vid thank you!
Jason Dallwitz - I was wondering the same thing if it would work or be a mess. The diameter of the dowel plus the wire gauge would need to be taken in consideration to what size draw is used.
There have been a few other people who have asked the same thing. I guess there's only one way to find out for sure, isn't there? Personally, I like the way it looks already, but you never can tell it might be an improvement 😉 😏 🤔 Let us know how it turns out if you do decide to try it, please?! Enjoy 😉!!!
