No wind Ultrex spot lock is incredibly worse!! I came from an Ultrex and the ONLY advantage Minn Kota has is with iPilot link follow contour. Also trim up a piece of marine mat and put it on the foot power switch and it’s money! The only complaint I have is when moving the peddle sounds like a lost goose looking for a friend. I hate to lube the friction washers in fear of ruining them. But I will say it is the quietest, most power efficient TM out there and I’ve run 2 ultrex’s and a ghost and Garmin wins!!
Good video. I love my force but let me tell u an issue you will run into.. your shaft has a key type groove in it and it fits into a groove inside the steering housing. Well when u hit a stump etc the shaft will misalign itself in the steering housing therefore making it to stow improperly and spot lock will be real eratic. The depth limiter kit fixed the problem. It comes with a bushing that slides inside the steering housing against the shaft therefore tightening everything up and works like a charm. Just wanted to give u a heads up.
@@bl8221 I don’t think it does. I would have one on hand. I fish timber a lot and mine became misaligned the first day out. Every since I installed the kit I’ve had no issues whatsoever
Did you have to reset anything once you installed the new depth limiter? Having the same issues with mine! You hit spot lock and it try’s to make you walk on water. It cuts hard left does a big circle and just heads north and does not stop till you turn off spot lock.
I’m still learning my Garmin Force Trolling Motor,i put my trolling motor into anchor lock after it was in full throttle, engaged the motor not realizing in was in full throttle almost threw me off the boat,it should default back to a lower setting…I love my Garmin Force Trolling motor though.
I can understand your frustration with almost getting thrown from the boat but I like the fact that it goes back to the last setting myself. I use the LED light indicator a lot for that reason
I talked to a Pro Bass Fisher at the boat ramp last weekend and asked how he likes his Garmin trolling motor, and said he loved it till that day, the lake was rough and said the spot lock would kick out every time the prop game out of the water and had to power down the trolling motor and power up to get the spot lock to work again, he was so mad that it tripped out all day and made fishing that much harder trying to fish the tournament in rough water
Congratulations on 1000! Any problems with over correcting with an aluminum boat? Read where some feel it over corrects due to the aluminum boats being lighter. I have a 18' Lowe and I am looking to put the Force on it.
How reliable is the wireless connection from the sonar unit to the Force? When it comes to wireless networking, I prefer a cable over wireless with devices around the house. To be fair there's a lot more interference in my neighborhood than at the lake.
Hey just came across this older review and did not realize you were running the Garmin Force.. Short story is I've seen all sorts of reviews, guy's using for one day, guys doing this but not that... I've always wanted one but the $$$ and all garmin graphs I have, sorta knocked out the other motors, even though they have more features... Lately I've noticed you have become more spiritual, which is great. My question is, do you or know anyone that does church boat runs or kids boat runs that might need some GT54 transducers? All the sales have them supplied but a person only needs so many!! Any how, I can't figure out if your in E. Texas or Louisiana...
So, we're closing in on this video being roughly 2yrs old. Is the Force still holding up well for you? I've got a chance to save over $2K on a Force, due to the Echomaps being on sale at Bass Pro. I want to get a sonar for the console, and then one for the bow. At the end of the day that's going to be quite the investment, so I want to feel good about this. I think I can live with just about every short-coming I've heard about, except one issue.....the pedal. I've seen consistent complaints with the pedal not only feeling incredibly cheap, but worse yet, apparently there's quite a bit of latency with the response of the motor to the pedal. THAT would be a major problem. A fraction of a second I could probably live with. But, anything more than that would be a deal breaker. Can you tell me about your experience on that end of things?? GREAT video. Thank you for posting.
I might have a solution for your pedal button height issue. You can buy a foam cool pad for the pedal. Only use the button portion to add height to the button.

Great Garmin Force information. Thanks for all your Garmin video's.
I have a few more after that one

Good video. I've got a 2017 Tracker Panfish and it's time to upgrade the trolling motor.
Yea sir it is time. You’ll enjoy this trolling motor. Thanks for commenting

That’s interesting to hear. I’ve fished with mine in some pretty rough water and never had mine do that. Thank you for the info.

My boat is an 17.5 footer bud and I have no problem at all

I’ve never had issues with but honestly I don’t use it much even tho it’s there

That’s a great idea. Thank you I’ll try it.
thanks for video. the music was distracting
I’ll work on that. Thanks for commenting
Garmin needs to slow the spot lock rotation speed. The head movement is too fast
nice vid ...but dump background elevator music ;)
Thanks for the input and thanks for watching.
What batteries are you running and what ah?
Ionic 50ah
@@The_Garmin_Guru are you running 2 or 3? I just purchased a force and also want to go ionic 50ah
What fish finder do you use with the force?
I have the 1022 and
943xsv linked to it
@@The_Garmin_Guru gotcha. When you link them it just works off the transducer on the force correct?
@@jamesbaker6705 you will plug the transducer into one of your units and then it will share the info with the linked unit
Awesome. Thank you for the help
Put a Eva pad on the button too raise it up
I appreciate that tip brother
