I got the exact same scoot back in April, researched over the winter and really liked the value and looks of it, The ride is like a motorcycle, it has power, speed and just turn and go, love it
I have the Mat Blue model for 2022. Sometimes the bike will stay on. I’ve had the bike for 10 months already and I replaced the battery. Other than that, I love the way it rides. Thank you for sharing!
Yeah the battery that came with mine was some generic battery the dealer put in that was garbage. I bought a Yuasa battery and havnt had a problem sense.
Nice scoot . I'm looking at a 2023 and I'm wondering if the windshield is adjustable and does it do a good job blocking the wind? I'm 6 foot 215 lbs 34 inseam . Do you think I'd fit the scoot ok ? Thanks for the great video.
Great bike, also thanks for the video, very rare to find an English speaker talking about it. The problem I have with this scooter/bike is the service demands. It's a bit over the top, every 5k and lots of other smaller jobs required between service. It's not like an xmax300 or honda 350 where you go in every 10k and 12k respectively with oil changes between. It's more involved which probably means more expensive in the long term, also slightly more expensive insurance. It's worth the RRP, but not sure about its service plan.
what does the service plan look like on this? I have a 23 xmax 300 and I want to get this or a burgman 400. the xmax just gets the shit kicked out of it on the freeway. it hops all over the lane at speeds and the wind protection is horrible
How many miles did it come with? Did you get the warranty? Will you be upgrading the tires ? What brand? Are you considering going electric? Thanks. Great video
Got brand new with 1 mile. Every Kymco AK 550 has a 2 year factory warranty if you follow the service schedule at the dealer. I'll being doing no modifications to this bike, just keep everything stock. Maybe a slip on exhaust.
I really want them to include an electrically controlled adjustable windscreen. Could lower it in town for more air then raise it for protection at highway speeds.
I mean you can look at this bike all day, the walls will fall away and time stops. I think bumps want nothing to do with the AK. that's why we don't feel them. What was your camera's setting so you didn't get the strobing on the dashboard? Excellent walk around. It's currently the top and newest Maxi-Scooter in the States.
how do you order parts and get them the same week i’ve been on back order for a Honda bike so imagine this brand I had a made in Taiwan Yamaha scooter also and there was nothing for parts so the bike was boring to own (Yamaha SMAX 155) but they dont sell the TMAX over here so we just have the Burgman or this
Very cool. I would love to see you do a road test of the bike. I plan to order the new one with cruise control, updated switches and the power windshield just as soon as it becomes available. It's the only true maxi scooter you can get in the states now.
@@Kahuna_550 I've been in communication with my local dealer, he said that it was supposed to be here in July. But like all things suffering from supply chain issues it has been delayed. He has assured me that it is coming but hasn't been able to confirm a date yet. It's got to be soon I hope, lol. This has become the norm for buying anything now it seems, I waited 3 months to get a Toyota Tacoma pick up truck last year. Right now you cant get a maxi scooter of any kind near me, not even a Yamaha xmax or Suzuki Burgman. I'll wait for the ak550 and get what I want.
From what I've learned and from talking with the dealer it is going to be a 2023 model and is going to be called the ak550 premium. It will have many upgrades, cruise control, power wind screen, improved belt drive, Bosch abs and imu, improved switches that do away with the rotary switch, and I'm sure there's more I'm forgetting. But of course there is also a premium price for it, about $11k. But I think the standard version will still be available, I can get a standard at my local dealer for $8,995 right now. Stock is still limited right now in the states.
I've been looking at the AK 550 for a few weeks now. Went last week and looked at a blue model. It was a very nice bike. My only concern is I'm about 5'6 and when i sat on it, I was barely able to reach with my tippy toes. I wonder if I'd be able to hold it up at a light with just one foot down.
I'm 6 ft and cannot flat foot the bike with both feet. You could hold it with one foot down but might be difficult, it's a heavy bike so you gotta be careful.
i want one there bad ass looken and if u change the exhaust for a aftermarket one it sounds mean ill never understand the hate these scoots get ill never understand it lol
Beware, be sure to read the Google Reviews of Kymco USA Inc in Spartanburg before purchasing. Dappled among the customers complaining about lack of service from Ky6mco USA Inc is more than one dealership that has decided to call it quits.
@@davew4377 Leg room is good, you can adjust the back support a bit and rest your feet on upper portion. I never do that though, just ride like normal.

That's why I got it! When I bought it the dealership said I'm not he usual person to get one. I'm under 30 🤣. Love this thing!
I'm 61 and own 3 scooters, I'm a big kid riding these scoots
I don't know why Kymco is not selling the ak550 premium in the US... That bike came out in 2022 and it has so many updates and goodies...
Thanks for the video. The $1000 price increase from 21 to 22 stings.

Hi beautiful motorcycle. Please explain the suspension, would you upgrade to ohline brand? That's.
Suspension is great, wouldn't change anything mechanical wise on this bike personally.
I have a KYMCO 300...I am thinking about getting this...thank you for the quick video. What dealership did you purchase this 550?
Honda Suzuki of Sanford
I would miss my Yamaha Majesty storage space!

Cool bike
This motorcycle is beautifull
Does it fall apart at 10k miles like Chinese made Wolf scooters?
This thing is quality and made in Taiwan, Kymco makes the BMW scooters. Got almost 15k on it now. It's a beast 😎

Does it have Cruise control?
It does not, the 2023 model does. Don't know if that will be available in the US though.
Looking at getting one, but dealers in socal are marking these up 20%
That sucks! Don't pay more than 11K out the door for one.
