    New-Doe. No traction control(the upcoming ST model does). Note that neither glove box has locks. 2022 model with the tank dry, can squeeze 3.4 gallons in filling up over the neck. We've tested 3 AK 550's and the key fobs reach about 35 feet if the view is clear. Another Tuber in Greece had his activate his bike at 50 feet. Line the fob case with foil and then you have the 2 foot limit. The gas requirements are suspicious as the sticker, the owners manual, and the service manual do not agree. Several of us use 87 (that US but 91 Euro). As to MPG, well, that varies by rider a lot. I avg 56 during the first 3k miles. Another rider I know is getting about 48. That git up and go low end torque can eat the gas if you want to use it. It currently cost about $1000 to replace the ignition if you lose both fobs.

      And there’s part 2 to the video! 😂 Rich is irritated by the gas situation.

    • @Scootphoria
      @Scootphoria 2 года назад +2

      @@ScooterNewbie Remember that in the USA, most gas pumps share a common hose. That means on an average fill-up on the scooter you are probably getting half of your fill-up at previous customers choice(residue in hose) which is most likely 87 octane while paying the premium price. Scooter riders that really require high octane need to watch and follow a customer that uses high octane also.

      @@Scootphoria I think you're vastly overstating the residuals. The volume of the 'bottom loop' of the hose (where the residual would be if someone doesn't raise the hose and clear it out when they're gassing) would be a couple of cups (16oz or so) at most. This is a far cry from 'half your fill-up' being 87 octane.

    • @Scootphoria
      @Scootphoria 2 года назад

    I have one ak and almost 600 miles on it in about a month of ownership, I love it and I have many bikes before and now I have 3 , honda forza 300 and a vtx1800 , I'm selling the forza because I can't even compared with the ak550 , quality probably ill go honda forza but can't say much about since i just got this ak , owned the gt300i kymco and was a blast but not even close to this ak, owned the honda helix 250 and not even close, owned the Burgman 400 and can't even compared weight balancing and center of gravity is completely different the ak is more agile on the road , owned sport bike and test road many bikes , I started since 12 years old riding ,and owned over 15 bikes, this Ak550 is a comfort ride and agile because of the way they made it , got enough power to do long rides without stressing it and even 2 people on it, I love it! , the only thing is that it's seating height isn't the best for me since I'm 5'8" so I been on my toes at light stops etc , cruise control will be nice but I bought those go cruise type that clamps on the grip and it does fine for me.
    Your information is wrong : the ak550 2021 or 2022 US doesn't have traction control, you should do know your bike or the bike you are reviewing before you do anything like this , is why I noticed a lot misinformation on nowadays and people getting it wrong, but anyways thank you for your video!.

I'm waiting for the new touring model with cruise control, power screen, and updated switch gear. I may have to wait for the 2023 model. But I'll order one as soon as it becomes available to the dealer. As long as I get it for next year's rising season I can be patient. Very interested in this scoot. As a guy who loves scooters, I currently own a Vespa Sei Giorni & a Kawasaki Versys 650 LT. Thinking of offing the Versys for the AK. What is your opinion about this scooter for a tall guy? (6'4") I've owned 650 Burgman but hated the ride. Seat was horrible and the rear suspension sent every bump directly up your spine. This appears to be different. Appreciate any incite. Stay safe. thanks

    • @ScooterNewbie
      @ScooterNewbie  2 года назад

      I have not seen a tall guy on the AK yet, but I will say the suspension is smoother than any scooter I've ridden... including a Burgman. It glides. It's a shame that it's so tough to get one just to test drive, but I'd chat with a dealer & at least ask to sit on one when one comes in even if it has an owner already. Check out that rear suspension & how you feel sitting on it at least! (That's what I had to do with a Yamaha SMAX myself.)

    I laughed when I read the turn signals referred to as "winkers" in the Owners Manual of my 1970 Honda Trail 90. I attributed it to Japanese to English translation error. Here we are 52 years later, and their still called "winkers" in the Owners Manual, but this time it's Taiwanese to English. Maybe that's what they're called everywhere but in North America? Just like only Americans call the last letter of the alphabet "Zee", the rest of the English-speaking world calls it "Zed."
