any suggestions for a vespa like scooter for someone whose 6 feet and 300lbs or should i keep hitting the treadmill ;-;

Great video on getting the scooter on the center stand! I have a 2017 GTV 300 and that is the way I get mine on the center stand. I would suggest that you might want to also keep a hand on the brake lever. Keeping your hand the brake can help stop the scooter if you are not on level ground or if the bike decides to get away from you, you can stop it by squeezing the brake lever. Thanks for your posting this newbie. It was a little bit easier this time for me this time. I finally decided on State 8 Cycles in Cuyahoga Falls, OH. I used to go to their other store that is now closed. I ended up getting the Lance Italia Classic 150 that was traded in from a guy who enjoys camping with his family. It seems it was only driven within a small campground only 750 miles on it. It seems that it is a fairly rare find. State 8 did that 1st year maintenance on it for me where they changed the oil and also changed the transmission oil and lube. And a slight tune up adjustment. When I got it home, I had to make a slight adjustment to the angle of the fuel pump unit since it is centrifugal force using gravity for fuel distribution and not actually being a pump. I had to break open the carburetor and used 2 cans of gumout carb cleaner to get all that stickiness out of there due to someone using that corn flakey gas containing ethanol. I used 3 cans of 93 canned fuel from rural king and 1 can of seafoam for some upper cylinder treatment and now I can finally ride without any of that bogging down and stalling out. I also found out like you did that this scooter is not for everyone as while on the stand is a little too tall for me, but on the ground it is the perfect height. I thank you for mentioning it because it is incredibly rare and mine is a 2020 model and only made that year. I feel really lucky to own it.

Compare with a Yamaha XMax 300 in the same price range. The XMax blows the Vespa away..... IMO, of course.... (the "styling" includes a huge underseat storage area as well as two side compartments, for starters.) As far as branding goes, I am sure there are still some Edsel lovers out there.... :)

If you even still check this, wanted to thank you for the content. I had been going back and forth between an Adv/PCX 160 and an XMax 300, and this video in particular was part of what swayed me in the direction of the bigger bike, and now that I’ve bought it and taken it out a couple of times I’m pretty happy with the choice.

The irony is ....I live in Houston ( midtown Heights)...and this is exactly what I am looking for.

I own a vespa since 7 years and it is a absolute nightmare. Expensive to own and maintain dont forget the build quality and paint is trash. Older vespas are great to own not these modern scooters. Stay away to get peace of mind.

I have known several people who thought ' I know, I'll save myself a load of money by commuting and doing short trips on a scooter instead of using the car.' This has lasted for a couple of months before 'It's raining. I think I'll use the car today and leave the scooter behind.' Then it's 'It's a little cold today. I'll use the car.' Then this becomes 'It won't be a warm day today. I'll use the car.' Eventually resulting in the scooter staying permanently in the garage unused while the owner goes everywhere in the car. Defeating the whole object of getting the scooter in the first place. The message - decide to use the scooter and stick to it. Or better still get rid of the car if possible to remove temptation.

My last scooter (purchased when I was 55 years old) was a great looking plastic body knockoff of the Vespa’s I had always ridden. But, it handled horribly and was nearly impossible for this old man to lift it onto the stand. I bought it and sold it in 3-years. Never enjoyed the ride really. It felt like each road blemish might take me down. Now, if I ever get the urge again, it would only be a Vespa!

I'm an American living in the Philippines now and I've been looking for a retro style scooter. The Vespas are way more money than I want to spend. The big brands haven't really put out any true retros as of 2024 but they're getting closer. The Kymco 150 is about $2500 here and there are Kymco dealers EVERYWHERE here.

I love scooters! I wish everybody rode one. The streets would be safer, less crowded, and happier.

From the onset there's a bit of rationalization (cherry-picking bias), by claiming to “save the environment”: There's no “anti-pollution” driving, like there are no negative-calories food. Just accept it and stop believing that marketing feelgood lie. That is like putting a band-aid on a chopped-off limb. Pointless. You DO want to save on fuel and your family's bottom line. That's good and should be encouraged some more. Drive a V8 if you want to go fast or with a heavy load, and a scooter for short trips. Pedal a bike when you want to reinforce your knees. Stop that lie of “saving” the environment: The last pandemic proved that even with the whole planet on forced hibernation mode, the temperatures and sea levels kept rising. Bless you all.

I only buy Chinese. Vitacci Clash 200efi, $1375 + $400 delivery. Pretty much a generic big wheel GY6 scooter made to look like a Honda Click,169cc engine made by Lifan. Do not buy a Chinese scooter unless you are willing and able to do all maintenance yourself.

thank for info, plan to purchase a scooter. one of the choice i was look at is the honda 160 adv and pcx, price is a factor. im also looking at a large scooter because i will be using it in Los Angeles fwy because of; work, college and visiting my grandparents. looking at a very efficient ride it will be covering miles....take a pubic transportation just does not working it so very dangerous, ride is so very timely, it really sucks... MTA try to fix the problem NOT, just putting money in fat public workers...

I just match flow of traffic or do a comfortable and safe speed, my speedometer is broken, 45 is about my top speed.

i have a 1978 vespa 50N, this one will outlive pretty much all chinese scooters. its not fast, but it its easy to fix, and i can still get new parts for it now, 46 years! later, from piaggio. it doesnt have safety features at all, you do all the things, its all mechanical.

My use case is definitely going to be "costs me more money", because I am coming from a world where I work from home, and have used an ebike to run errands and never had a four wheel vehicle to begin with. So the cost of getting a scooter and such is going to definitely be more than the bike, although more functional and fun. I'm probably going to land on two scooters actually. I am looking at a CSC ES5 (all electric) for all the neighborhood short jaunts I currently do on my ebike, paired with a Honda ADV 160 for when I need more storage or want to go further. Anyway, I've enjoyed your content and insight. :)

That's a whole lot of research to then walk out with something other than your spreadsheet's first choice. But... how it feels is a big part, and that may be is tough to put into a spreadsheet.

Yes, you can pay less for Chinese made crap but it will be Chinese.Made crap for which you will not will get no spares support and you will be throwing it away as scrap wheras for example my ET3 made in 1976 was still easily maintained. You get what you pay for.

Vespas are awesome. Have a green 2017 Vespa Sei Giorni. It now has Bitubo suspension, electronic media mod, carbon guards, Rizoma bar-end mirrors & parts, Brembo brakes and an Akrapovic exhaust. It's my go to ride, when I'm not on Ducati Panigales, MV Agusta Dragster or 2010 Triumph Daytona 675 😅

I prefer your method for 50cc etc. But for bigger stuff, I sit on it and put my foot on there and get it "flat" on the ground. Then I basically attempt a wheelie pushing down at the same time. I'm a guy and I can't do it slowly on my biggest scoot.
