I am such a rock hound, I love to collect, draw, and paint them. Especially love searching for stones along the beach, always wondering just how far each stone has travelled!
I thought I was weirdo until I read your message. I have boxes of rocks and sand from my travels. I saw your work on IG and am so thankful to have found you on RUclips. Thank you for the great video! You have a new SUB now!!!
Really beautiful painting, and excellent instructions. Thank you!
That was the most amazing lesson I’ve seen on painting rocks! I loved the pour technique all the way through to the stencils.
Thank you so much! You made me smile SO big!
Awesome to watch.
Love the stencil ing 😊
thank you Patricia
Very nice and I like the stencils

The texture created by the stencils is wonderful. Great techniques in this video. Thanks for sharing. ❤🎉❤
So glad that you enjoyed this video, here is a playlist I created sharing more watercolor techniques: ruclips.net/p/PLWuS2JKtoVgdpxfGSmJ7YIKZph7ncb9LT
It's great to find a good painter that is also a good instructor. I like the stencil lifting.
Thank you very much!
Wow!!! I also love rocks, just SO many options for shape, color and texture, never a reason to get bored :) and maybe I've been living under one because maybe everyone has already known...but I've never seen it done this way, with the pour, with watercolor!! I've seen it and done it with acrylic paint, but hadn't even thought to do it with watercolor!! And love how you go in with the stencils...also something I've never seen!! Again, me=under one of those rocks apparently. 😊🙄
So this is awesome! I don't have any stencils and can't afford to buy any right now, but definitely have it on my wish list.
This was awesome!! Thanks so much for inspiration to try these new, to me, techniques!!😁
Using stencils with watercolor is a new concept for me. I’ll be hunting some down.
I have "learned" so many ways to paint rocks, but your technique seems to be the most logical with the best results. I can't wait to try it. And stencils are a definite plus! Thank you.
Awesome, thank you! Loved reading your responses this morning
I love this!!!
Thank you! Always fun to paint stones, the only limit is our imagination
I loved this presentation. And I DO like what you did with the stencils. Thanks for sharing!
Thank you! I have so much to learn making these videos, so happy you enjoyed this one!
I love the stenciling on this painting. I love rocks and I love watercolor.

Love this ! Feels like walking on the beach in Newfoundland. I love your use of stencils... I need to go shopping...
lol, (I need to go shopping) this made me smile! My latest video (Watercolor Pouring in under ten minutes with Stencil Lifting Technique) shows a way to make your own stencils. You may have a way to make some at home. Although us artists do love a reason to go to the art store. ha ha
I'm a rock and fossil and watercolor lover who just stumbled into this video. i absolutely love the results, and equally loved watching your process. I have so many unused stencils that I now want to try out like this. Truly beautiful. Thank you.
Painting rocks is sooo soothing and then the stencils are sooo fun! Hope you enjoy the process as much as I did! Happy rock hounding! I always catch myself thinking hmmm that quartz looks like it has some raw Sienna running through it 😂😂😂

Love the interest the stencils bring. It can get addicting. I started using after i saw one of your videos. Thank you. Your voice is soothing. I often watch when i go to bed so it’s fresh in my mind in morning. And it helps me sleep. Sorry, you probably didn’t want to hear that.😂
I SO agree that they can be addicting, it is so satisfying to use them
Ps. --I have a non artist friend who listens to Bob Ross audio to calm down after work - 😂🤗😉
I love using stencils in my paintings and I love the subtleties thats added to yours. I think I may have to learn more restraint in mine

I love seeing how you use stencils in your watercolor. Do you cut them yourself or buy them.
I now cut and design my own stencils, but there are some old favorites listed on my amazon influencer art page : (the stencil, and cutting supplies category) - www.amazon.com/shop/watercolorpour
Brilliant. Thank you for this 😍👌
I've just discovered your beautiful art. Love it and a little stenciling goes such a long way here.

Simply awesome!
I've just discovered your channel and I'm already planning on purchasing some stencils and making my own too. I think the painting looked lovely before stenciling, but gave such an interesting look with the stencil lifting.
Thank you, it really is bringing new light and textures to my paintings, not to mention so fun and exciting to execute 😀😀😀
This is just beautiful, love love the colors! Amazing skills!
Thank you! Colors really are my favorite part of painting 💙
Yes, keep the stencil lifting!
Wonderful video! Going to try this out in my sketchbook now ... What do you think about painting a subject like this without a reference photo ? This is one of the subjects where you really dont need to be slave to a reference and just let the imagination flow..
Hi there! Sorry for the delayed response, yes that is a great idea, love to paint from memories too, thanks for the reminder😀
I love the stencil effect!
Are the stencils made by you?

Yes, stencils!
love them!
Definitely better with the stencil lift.
Thank you Janet! 😀
Really interesting and great master.
Could you please explain how you could paint wet on wet only one side of the stones without watercolor invade the other side of the stones.
How could you limited diffusion on watercolor ?
Thanks in advance
A couple of ways: With practice the angle shader brush will blend out color without the color moving across the entire surface. Another way is to consider paint load, (how much paint is being used) if an area is dampened with the angle shader brush with just water and then the heavier paint is dropped in a bit it will not usually travel across the whole way. Lastly if you have a dryer you can give it a blast of dry heat to freeze the travel of the paint. If you see the paint moving too far just dry it to freeze its spread. I hope these options give you some ideas :) Thank you so much for your question.
I want to try this! I like stenciling. Where do I purchase them?
I got these from the Tim Holtz stencils, sold on Amazon and other sites. Some of my favorites are listed at my Amazon page here : www.amazon.com/shop/watercolorpour
Definitely no stencils
