In todays video we are going to show you how to Rebuild the bottom end of a 2000 CR250. This process is very similar on all CR models, and even some other bikes
Ability level: 9/10
Install time: 4-5 hours (with bottom end on work bench) - Авто/Мото
impact on the bearing retainer screws, you like living life on the edge eh? lol Awesome video dude!
awesome trick with lining the crank up as well with the feeler guages
lol, yea I’ve put in about a million screws with impacts I have a prefer good feeling for how much to hit them without stripping anything! Been a long time since I’ve stripped anything.
Nice job on the video. One thing, the crank seal on the stator side needs to be inset 2mm. It does make a difference.
you helped so much good video and explanation...but it would have helped if you mentioned that you had the turn the power valve assembly the other way round...i was puzzled for about an hour
Super video Bro 👌🏾💯 greeting from puerto rico 🇵🇷 execelent Thanks
Good on you mate, coming from rural reno NV. Howdy. I'll be attempting to do mine this weekend.
Just and fyi, all the Philips bits are actually JIS. Use the proper bit or screwdrivers and they won’t strip👌
Great video! I would have sandblasted the exterior of that case and maybe even cerakoted some of the covers. Amazing job tho!
A card board with the layout of the engine side you are working on diagram and pike holes in the card board and put the bolds in the card board in the place that the bolts go much easier
Just a question.
Can we reuse the bearing and oil seal when rebuilding the engine, if the old bearings are fine?
Can you? Sure! Would I suggest it… NO! You’re only saving yourself a small amount of money vs the time it takes to completely disassemble the engine. Just do it right the first time.
Heck yaa nice and thorough
What should the clearance be on each side of the crank to the case?
I don’t think there is a measurement for the clearance in each side, what I do is use a feeler gauge to center the crank between the cases.
According to my manual you put the governor in backwards
It got switched around off camera when the cover was out on.
Gotcha, I’m waiting on a new lock washer for the clutch so I haven’t made it past that point, great video and I appreciate you taking the time to make it, helped a ton with my first rebuild 🤙
Video was a big help. Thanks. But my clutch basket will not sit flush on the shaft it goes on. It’s up just a bit. Any suggestions?
Need to make sure it’s meshed with the gears behind. Something isn’t sitting all the way down.
Great video and job, how much was the kit 👏
Hello, could you tell me which way to loosen the crankshaft shaft bolt? This one where you hold the connecting rod with your hand to be able to loosen the screw, I'm almost breaking the motorcycle's piston and I can't get it loose. thanks
Should be left to loosen, right to tighten. It’s like that on almost every bike. If your having trouble, you’ll need an impact, and possibly some heat
@@wideopenmoto obrigado
Are you not supposed to replace the shift drum bearing because I got the old one out and put a new one in and now the shift drum does not spin smooth
I always replace all the bearings, if it’s not shifting smooth there is another issue
Not a generator is a governor assembly
abres el motor y le montas los rodamientos viejos?
No, todos son rodamientos nuevos.
My seal that goes behind the crank gear is not seated and seems to jave been that way, do i just keep it like that because it seemed to ride fine before?
Seals need to be installed on the case to prevent oil from entering the crank.
Feel free to head over to my website and you can get my contact info from there
La commande de valves n est Pas correctement placée 😉
Is that 2 stroke mix your using? 35:56
Nope, just rotella t6, to keep it lubed for first ride.
One of my main crank bearings got a little bit of side to side play in it is that fine?
Absolutely not….
@@wideopenmoto fuck
@@wideopenmoto like the center ring of the bearing goes tick tick when pulling in and out. No play whatsoever?
Can you email me a picture of what you are taking about?
@@wideopenmoto I got it figured out shits fine. Bearings are brand new. Now the question is how in the fuck did you get that clutch cover on with a power valve assembly that doesn’t fit worth a shit
What? I rode 2 strokes for 2 decades and rebuilt hundreds of top ends carbs shocks forks never had a bottom end not work.perfectly. what are you guys doing to these bikes, ?
Cranks eventually go bad, no matter how hard or soft you ride a bike, they will eventually just give way. I rebuild about 20-30 motors a year with locked up cranks.
@@wideopenmoto i.m7st have been luck 20 yrs of 2strokes never touched bottom end on any.of my 7 dirtbikes
Not much to learn dude... u finally reassembles the centrifugal pinnion of the power valvle inside out... that power valvle Will never open cause the pinion doesnt get movement from the crank.....
bro.....
