Dude I just read this and I’m truly heart broken. I used to be an R&B kid back in the late 2000’s but when I first saw “trashed, lost and strung out” music video. I converted to listening to metal thanks to Alexi and his hatecrew band. My first guitar was a Flying V. This was my Randy Rhoads. RIP Alexi Laiho.
Children of Bodom and Alexi were so good every time I saw them. One time a bunch of his fingers had bandages and he said it was from touring, still played killer that night.
It’s like that episode of Metalocalypse when Skwisgaar and Toki are learning to play blues guitar and the guy is telling them to slow down and they CAN’T until he ties cinder blocks to their hands.

I keep seeing Alexi and Skwisgaar comments comparing the two...for anyone curious and wasnt a fan of the show or know much of Dethklok... Al the band members in the show were modeled after actual metal players...and yes Skwisgaar was modeled after Alexi. This is truth...im no elitist but since i was and a kid and watching the very first episode its because of that band im even into metal and know of bodom and i remember brendan in some old fucking interview or live Q&A mentioning tht they were indeed modeled after these guitarists. from then on i found out about bodom , corpse, and whatever other bands he mentioning the others are modeled after. this is just for anyone who wasnt a fan of the show, too young to really see the old clips of brendan and such, or thinking it but not knowing for sure. Youre welcome i guess.

I’d say it’s the very opposite. There’s a lot more that one can do with a well-developed left hand and a rudimentary right hand technique than vice versa.
@@ScottyPee21 of course it is, kezo is right, right hand is much more difficult to develop and much more important. The same look on fingerpicking style, even tho in classic music left hand has a lot of to do, right hand is still so hard to master. Perfectly synchronized hands are really important to maintain the sustain of the sound and its clearance.
Alexi Laiho is probably my favorite, & most influenced by guitarist, but he waas NOT born to teach guitar lmao. he is a more naturally gifted player with English as a second language.
He's more demonstrating than teaching. If you want to get teacher go see Andy James. Do you want to watch the master demonstrate his writing watch Alexi

I'd say the opposite too, hammer ons and pull offs for example. The left isn't following the right is it
