    Probably the most often used edc item you clued me on to is the simple duct tape on plastic card. Besides the everyday applications, last year I was hiking in Yosemite, a woman came past me on a trail and the bottom her shoe blown out and barely holding on. Duct tape to the rescue, thanks for once again making me the hero. LOL

    When putting hydrogen peroxide into a 2nd container, use an opaque, dark container. Light quickly breaks down hydrogen peroxide into water and oxygen. That's especially true at warmer temps, and a carry bag is apt to get pretty hot in Summer. This is why you only see hydrogen peroxide sold in dark, opaque containers.

    I have that bag in the same color and love it. My primary use is as a vehicle first aid kit. I’m using the 4-banger for that purpose in my wife’s vehicle. The quality and durability of these 5.11 bags make them an excellent value.

    For work, in the summer, I definitely rock the fanny pack. I have a Merrell one. Can't remember the damn name of it. Dudes can make fun of me all they want, but it helps keep all that weight out of my pockets and in a place I can reach into without thinking much about.

    I’ve been using those 3M earplugs for years. I eventually pull the cord out on purpose and throw them in my pocket. I literally carry them every day, as I’m always doing something loud (riding, shooting, running a mower, tractor, etc.).

    A good EDC starts with mission perimeters and a realistic RA (risk assessment). For me when in town, we live 30 miles away in ranch country, my kit consists of: XDS 45 w/ TLR3, 2nd magazine, stop the bleed kit, pencils, index cards (8), sharpie red, sharpie black, Leatherman Wave, wet ones, 2 blue shop towels, two lighters. The rest of my kit is in the Tundra along with 2 FA kits, and emergency items as you mentioned. The idea being just enough stuff to get to the vehicle.

Being a machinist, my hands are covered in little cuts, and I can tell when my hands are dirty. I use good soap to counter the potential dry skin, which i don't get. People used to call me a germaphobe, people never said it again in 2020 lol. Thank you for being you, and sharing yourself with us. I reminisce of the good old days, and your videos can always bring me back to a time and place in my life. Your a hero to me uncle nutn, damn good Joe. • @jackjohnson291
      @jackjohnson291 Год назад +1

      Love my HW haversack.
      There’s not much to it, but it’s perfect and light. I don’t care for tons of pockets and compartments. They play into my OCD and need to organize everything, and when given a loop or pocket, I find myself needing to fill it with something that I probably don’t need or wouldn’t carry otherwise. It’s a curse really. The simplicity of a haversack keeps me focused on what I actually need and use. I do wish it had more shape keeping material in the seams, but a small hand towel is always handy and will help keep the bag from collapsing if only carrying minimal stuff.
      That said, I mainly use mine in the woods or on the water. For any situation in town or in the city that necessitates that I carry more than my pockets or a small fanny pack can handle, I just turn to an under filled backpack and keep it minimal. Get home bags and the basic survival gear stay in the truck, so I don’t carry much in the way of that kind of stuff in any of my EDC bags, aside from some basic medical and a blowout kit, since I carry 100% of the time.

No need to carry a bunch of shit to the store or errands. If I’m traveling still I carry a bag a few bags actually but they stay in the car unless I go hike hotel or am wandering about.

  • @jackjohnson291

    “We need…scissors, lots of scissors.” 😂
    Also, something to think about: if you’re carrying a handgun in a bag, it’s not a bad idea (I think) to store it in the actual holster you would carry it on your person with. This way you can just grab the whole thing and stuff it, pass it off to someone else, or just draw directly from the bag. It makes it a little more multi purpose and functional.

    Sweet bag! I’ve been looking for something like that! Wish you’d bump
    Into
    Me in INDIANA, I would so rock your EDC gear check, I wouldn’t get an A, but a solid B or C+! I carry 2 pew pews, normally a cr920 appendix and spare mag in left pocket as main EDC then typically something around 4pm on hip IWB for both 2nd cool and backup, at times glock 19, hk usp compact 9mm, or j fame, or kahr pm9. Also carry spare mag on hip owb for 2nd pew. Then I carry a benchmade bugout in FDE, or a spider CO delica, a bandanna, surefire fury (rechargeable) and fenix ld22, (sometimes surefire defender, or streamlight micro steam) but always 2 lights. Then on my keys I got a space pen, chapstick, and 2 small bic lights. Hope I’d pass, I carry this daily until I go to sleep, I would so pass the gear check. Hopefully someday I run into you. Would love to show you the Tacoma TRD off road and the gear setup, nothing great, but decently prepared. The Russian little shovel in bed would so get me 2nd cool points!
    Thanks for all you do! LD22 was my 1st led light I bought thanks to you, I have 3. My latest one I carry is rechargeable with long battery acts like 2 AA’s it’s and it’s 800 lumens you would love the light! You are to blame for my light addiction. Thanks for all you do Nutnfancy you have helped me a ton over the years from gear, lights hand guns I’ve bought! SU16 is one of my favorite guns I got that you recommend, great ranch gun on my land, or could make good bugout/get home gun. So easy to carry vs AR15.
