- A short test / demonstration of my LBP private server using RPCS3. (Not affiliated with Project Lighthouse)
All of LBP2 online's core functionality is complete except Recent Activity. Matchmaking is only partially implemented since I cannot test that on RPCS3 until the devs fix peer to peer online for the LBP games.
Works the same on PS3 except you can actually join other people.
LBP1 is not yet supported by my server, only connecting to it is possible.
I have not tested LBP3 and don't plan to, but I assume some stuff would work since it uses most of the same HTTP URLs as LBP2, but nothing specific to LBP3 will work.
The game's EBOOT file must be modded from https to http on the main url to connect to the server until I figure out how to get the game to connect to https.
The "/auth L" and "/auth R" (Login and Register) commands are required for security reasons since RPCN (RPCS3's PSN) is not exactly secure and would allow people to profile spoof easily.

omg i really hope this releases soon, i miss playing lbp2, it was my first ps3 game and it kept me entertained for hours everyday for years. i have so many memories on it and the fact that the servers got shut down really killed me for a while, i'm sure i speak for everyone when i say, we either need this to go wonderfully, or they need to get the servers back up.

I know this video is old but this is to everyone, Lighthouse is not out yet but you can join the Public instance of lighthouse but over at LBP Union, we do not recommend the public instance of lighthouse.
If you are asking about LBPK private servers being made, not yet because LBPK servers are different from the three main games server.
If you are trying to join other users from RPCS3 (a PS3 emulator) you can't because RPCS3 currently doesn't support the peer-to-peer protocol that LBP uses.
If you are wondering when Lighthouse is going to be released, we don't but it will at some point.

Will this work on a PS3? I have it in my living room which I play sometimes till I'd finally completed my level I'd worked on during the servers shutdown until I'd heard the news of LBP PS3 servers got shut down completely. I will look forward if there's an release of the private server release. Keep up the good work

Hey, I've finally installed RPCS3 emulator on my PC and I started to play LBP2! But I have a problem! I can't complete the opening level because I've found my 1st glitch that makes me impossible to proceed: in that point where some platforms must lift up when I come close to them... those platforms don't lift up! The player sensor that should make those platforms lift up does not work, or is gone! Do I have to change some settings? My PC is a Asus, with Windows 10, processor Intel Core i7, graphics card Nvidia GeForce GTX 960M, 930 GB of memory space, over 40 GB free.

ok so I'm trying to connect to my own private server as a test and I can't get a connection to go through
are the latest RPCS3 builds usable, or do I need a very specific build to do this? (I have a patched eboot with my own server address in it)

@@TorutheRedFox You're right, turns out I had bad IP switches in my master build settings. I just fixed it and yea, master branch works.

Is this how people are getting online trophies when the servers are down for all the LBP games? If so is their any tutorials, or a discord server where I could find out how to do this because I want to platinum every LBP game because I don't know how to do it or what I need to get
There are currently some active servers that you can try connect to like Lighthouse, not sure if its currently up but you can google it or something to find more info on it, there should be some tutorials etc. That would be the best way to get the trophies right now I think.

how do i can get the private server to lbp2 on ps3?
Since LBP is now a dead game that cant be played online anymore. What do you do these days? Do you play any other games or have any type of occupation after leaving the game entirely?
LBP3 has online on PS4 still in case you didn't know. I don't play any one game consistently anymore, I just do random coding / modding projects, currently Mario 64.

By the way, I have this weird black line flickering in lbp2 when i play levels, do you maybe know a fix for this?
Can you try explain more or show me an example? I think have an idea of what you mean but I need be sure before I can help properly.
@@wd3zxxc023 So basically there is this sort of black line that sometimes appears on the screen.
It doesn't seem to happend at all when I am in the Pod, but when I try one the the levels for example there is this black line appearing on the screen for a second and then dissapears; it then comes back after a while, then dissapears again pretty fast
@@nicoyad What GPU / CPU are you using? And are you using Open GL or Vulkan on RPCS3 settings?

@@nicoyad It could be the AMD GPU causing the issues, I've heard of problems with RPCS3 on AMD GPUs before but I don't wanna assume right away since I've never owned one myself. Try switching to OpenGL/Vulkan and see if there's any differences.

Out of curiosity, why are you working on a separate project to Project Lighthouse? Would it not be better to combine your efforts and work together?
Few reasons; first, I already had a half done server code base to work with long before lighthouse ever got started (2018). Second, I don't know most of the people working on lighthouse nor do I have connections with any of them, and also I just enjoy coding my own stuff, it's how I've always done it. Besides, working with other people can be messy with things like expectations to be met and consistency, and then there's the whole trying to understand or fix other people's code, that isn't something I'd wanna do as a hobby. I'm not opposed to working with other people though, if anyone asked me to I'd be fine with helping, but I think the lighthouse team is getting along fine without me, their server seems pretty stable and functional from what I've seen of it.
And slightly off topic, moderation and management of private servers can be pretty sketchy since it's not run by some official organization, they can do pretty much what ever they want. I personally would only use a private server if I actually know and trust the people in charge of it (especially for LBP, the community is extremely chaotic and immature), and I don't personally know anyone running any of the current LBP private servers, so I can only really use my own as of now. The point is, if a server's moderation policy is garbage or a security flaw or some other drama happens on one server, it's nice to know there's others to go to.

Currently waiting for the rest of the missing online features (joining people) to be implemented on the emulator. I'm not a developer of the emulator so I can't really say when, but I know the missing online stuff is being worked on right now so it should probably be done soon.

Question, is it possible that the devs for this server contact PSONE PlayStation Online Network Emulated and see if they could add their DNS server to yours so people on OFW can play? I’m afraid to go on a CFW since I use my main and don’t wanna get banned. I’ve contacted one of the staff in the PSONE discord and they said something along the lines of “if they contact us we’d be glad to add our DNS server to theirs”. Not sure if it’s possible but if it is please let the devs know :)

Connecting to the server requires a modified EBOOT file as of now, so adding it to a DNS would do nothing. I'd have to figure out how to get my server to accept the https request that the game sends with an unmodified EBOOT before it gets added to any DNS, which is definitely a high priority, but I'm not even sure if it's possible.

I could occasionally do it myself for a while but I wouldn't be all that consistent at it, and yeah if I had other people helping maintain the server I'd just let them team pick too

It works on PS3 too but this server is not public yet. There are other servers out there that are already up and running though.

If its compatible then Vita must be too since its a direct port!
I could easily allow Vita to connect but obviously you'd be unable to play the levels not published from Vita.

@@gg72yt The server is only up when I'm testing it, and I haven't needed to do testing for weeks. When the server is public I'd let anyone in that isn't trying to damage it.

there is something called lbp lighthouse and it's essentialy a private server. If you mod your ps3, you can join it and actually play levels from that server + you have the ability to upload your own too.

There's nothing major left to develop, I'm just waiting for RPCS3 to add p2p online functionality for LBP, then I'll work on finishing it.

Depends how you define "dead". I'm not working on it anymore until RPCS3 adds peer to peer online multiplayer support for the LittleBigPlanet games, which could be never for all I know.

you see, most private servers aren't very secure, since they are still in development, and if they were released right at this moment, a lot of them would probably get hacked and ddosed.
