Great videos and commentary on the EF 55-250. I have accumulated many great Canon cameras over the years, all DSLRs. But recently I bought the EOS Mark 6 ii. I also bought the Viltrox EF to M converter and the Viltrox converter. I haven't mastered video the way you have, but your clips inspire me to do more with this incredible camera. I guess that's why I am subscribing today. All the best for you and your channel!
Super good review... I also have the M6 mark2 - I love the size and I'm looking for a tele-zoom, (other than my big heavy "L" glass). Your images and video looked great. Well done.
@@BryanMcGowan BTW - I have an EF-M 18-150 and I really like it... (Probably similar to the EF-M 55-200) but... after I got my EF adapter (Christmas gift) I've been playing with my "L" glass on my m6 mark2 and there is that "extra" rich quality of the images that I love... Anyway, Brian - thanks again for the awesome content in your video and... I just ordered a copy of the EF-S 55-250 STM ($192 new). Looking forward to playing with it.
What about using the Canon 70-300 is USM? It's longer and heavier, but is more versatile for those with a full-frame body. Also easier to find used at a very good price. I also have a 100-400 L lens, but it's heavy so when I travel, I tend to take along the 70-300 is USM to save weight.
The 70-300 is a great option as well. Little bit more expensive than the 55-250. I agree the 100-400 is a heavy lens. Once upon a time i did have the 70-300 and it worked really well. Just not a lens I have any more. Most of the time these days the longest lens in my bag is the 50mm f/1.8
@@BryanMcGowan I bought my 70-300 is USM used for about $100 on Ebay. It's in very good condition, in fact almost new. It even came with the original Canon lens hood. My 100-400L lens is the first version with the sliding zoom. Not as good as the current 100-400 II L, but since I bought it used for a reasonable price I'm happy with my purchase. Mounted on an APCS body both the 70-300 and the 100-400 offer great reach with the 1.6X factor.
@@msbrownbeast I have the newer 100-400. It’s a super sharp beast I just leave it home a lot because I line having the lighter bag. 100 for the 70-300 is great. Good find on that one
For under $180 USD delivered, with my recently purchased Canon Eos 7D that was $230, it will be extremely satisfying for this newbie. Oh, and there's never a lack of Heron an hour from me :)
Thank you for this review. I totaly agree with your arguments. I have the same lens, but with a EOS 80D. The 100 400 stay in home more and more. i have just one concern to move to M6 Mark ii. Do you confirm that the 55 250 is able to fill enough the 31 Mpixel of the M6 Markii compared to the 24 Mpixels of the EOS 80D ?
The 55-250 was super impressive. I mean it’s not gonna resolve as much detail as the 100-400 but especially for social media use the 55-250 is fantastic
i guess it doesn't matter how cheap or high end the lens are.... Once it touches by the master's hand... How i wish you show us the camera settings as well.
Thanks very much for the review! Have you tried the EFM 55-200mm? I'm thinking about a zoom lens and this is the one I was looking at... From sunny but cold & still locked down Ireland! ☘️☮️🤘🏽🤠👍🏽☮️☘️
I haven’t tried it yet but a friend does have it. The 55-250 is probably sharper has a bit of extra reach and is generally cheaper to purchase on its own. But you need the adapter
Don’t apologize for asking. Happy to answer. The newer STM is a little better for sure. A long time ago I had an older 55-250 and it wasn’t as sharp at the newer STM.
I use the Canon one but there are other brands. Just not sure how effective they are. Canon EOS M Mount Adapter www.amazon.ca/dp/B008NF8CEK/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_i_FR8OFbTD76NEV

Thanks so much. Do t do a lot of photo stuff on here any more though but if I get some time might start a second photo based channel

Thanks so much for taking the time to watch. The M6 ii is a great camera for photos and videos. Experiment with it. I am sure you will be happy.
I have this lens on a Canon 700d and love the results. Great video from you too, thankyou
Thanks so much.
If you find the time to show a tutorial on how you get those great night shots, I'd be open to learning.
I could do that

Thanks. You use the EF-M to EF.

Why the video is sharper than the still images? Is it taken with different camera?
All with the same camera. Most likely didn’t sharpen the images in post
I'm thinking of that exact setup for me! Were you filming in 1080p or 4k?
Most of the time I am shooting in 1080
@@BryanMcGowan awesome, is it smooth to edit?
Frederico Alves it is.
55 -250 and less than half the price of 70 -300. Do you think that 70 - 300 mm is worthy for its price? Especially in case of bird photography?
For birds the extra reach is always welcome. But with the 55-250 I was still able to get some great shots
@@BryanMcGowan thanks 🙏🙇
@@mb-hb1fr any time, hope you get some good stuff
Hi, 300mm is actually still too wide for birds in my experience.
@@EvilJonas I have had situations where 300 is too tight. All depends on the circumstances
Hey sorry for asking,
Is the optical clarity the same for older models of 55-250

I did footage with it as well
