This is a very technically helpful. Not only with M6 Mark II, but with photography in general and Canon cameras in particular. Not to forget the tip on handling Rode video micro… Thanks again 👍🏾
I knew about the time lapse settings but the focus bracketing and HDR ! ------ it's like finding an extra couple of gears in your already quick sports car.... Nice one, that man.... More nifty tricks please....
Ve had this camera for the better part of a year now and haven’t done much with it because I’ve felt so intimidated by it. I wish I had seen this video sooner because I’m about to start having a lot of fun with it going forward! I’ll be looking thru to see what else you have that is related to the M6.
That makes me happy! That my video made you pick up the camera fulfills the reason for making the video 😊 Hope you find lot of joy with the camera! 😊 Thanks for watching and commenting 😊
I am planning to replace my very old canon 5d mk ii with the M6 MK II tomorrow and use it as second body along my canon 5d MKIII ( I found a very good deal for camera and EF adapter). I am fairly new to filmaking so I thought to buy a second body which allowed me to start experimenting with it. I have to be honest I was tempted to switch to sony altogether due to the convenience of the mount sony uses across its system and the LOG profile for colour grading which doesn't come with the M6MKii Now I am not sure what new lens I should buy for this camera as on one hand I'd like to use ef lenses considering that I use the 5DMKIII as main body but on the other i feel a bit bitter with canon because if in the future I want to replace the 5DMKIII with the new R cameras I would need to keep using the adapter and if I bought M mount I couldn't use it with the R system neither. It's a bit annoying but at the moment the most effective solution for me.
@@MegaBaldo86 with future proofing in mind, I would get EF lenses, no doubt about it. I'm not buying EF-M lenses anymore, just because of what you said, you can not use them on RF mount. I also got the EOS R, and even though the quality of RF lenses are really good, I'm buying EF lenses (except for the RF 35mm f/1,8, that lens didn't cost that much, so I just had to get it. And now they are releasing the RF nifty duty, that also not that costly,). But in regards of EF lenses: 1-they are a lot cheaper then RF glass, and 2-they work on both my EOS R and my M6mk2 😊 Yes, we have to use an adapter, but that's really not the biggest inconvenience if we consider the price difference between EF and RF. And full frame EF lenses are still really great 😊 I ordered the Tamron 24-70mm f/2,8 yesterday. Looking forward to try it out on both my M6mk2 and my EOS R 😊 If I had the chance to do it all over again, I would probably had gone with Sony cameras, because of what you said. But now I'm invested in Canon, and to change system now would just cost to much.
@@RogerAVHansen Totally agree with you in everything! Have you tried the EF Rokinon/Samyang 14 f2.8 on the M6MKII? I am considering it for Real estate works but also as a travel ultra wide angle lens too. Another couple of questions if I may: Would a trigger works on the M6MKii to control external flashes? and if so how good or bad? And lastly, have you tried the EF 50 F1.8 on the M6MKII? Is the AF any good with the adapter on? Thanks a lot in advance! Looking forward to seeing more videos of you!
@@MegaBaldo86 You know, I'm mostly in to videomaking, so haven't tried triggers or external flashes on any of my cameras. So I can't answer you on that unfortunately... Haven't tried the Rokinon/Samyang lens either. But I do own the Canon EF 50mm f/1,8 😊 With the regular EF to EF-M adapter from Canon and the EF nifty fifty the AF works like a charm 😊 I also have the Viltrox speedbooster, and the AF works great with that too 😊 so you don't have to worry about the AF 😊

Thumbs up for sure. Is there a reason you chose this over other cameras? Which other did you consider and why did they not make the cut sir? Thank you!
Hi! There were several things that made me choose this camera. Since I’m doing RUclips and making videos for clients, having un-cropped 4K and 120fps in fullHD was important to me. And the price when I bought it was also an important factor. The compactness of the camera and the native EF-M lenses is also a positive. The high MP sensor was also a factor for photography 😊 I did look in to Sony A6400 also, but ultimately it was the Canon M6 mark ii that felt right for me at that time 😊 Thank you for watching and commenting 🤗
Roger, thank you for the tips. Especially for the Video Micro ;). Nice videos by the way. Also I used Tehnicolor Cinestyle on my old EOS M, but now for the EOS M6 mkII I am thinking about Filmkit Flat? I am thinking about getting this one too.

Thank you, glad that you liked it. The first cage I got was the SmallRig cage, but unfortunately the speedbooster can't be mounted to the camera with that cage on. You can make some small adjustments to that cage to make it fit, but I found a good offer on a UUrig cage. And with that cage the speedbooster can be mounted on the camera. So I ended up with using the cage from UUrig.
Hi! 😊 The options in the menu changes depending on what mode you have the camera in. If you are in "auto" mode your options in the menu are limited. If you change over to "manual" (turn the wheel over to "M") you have other options. If you change over to video mode (turn the wheel over to the film camera) you get some other options related to video. Look at my video once more, I specify in the video what mode you need to be in in order to get to the different optins 😊 Hope this was an answer to your question 😊
Could/should be, all depends on what type of car and road you are filming 😊 Trial and error 😊 Give it a go, see what result you get and change the settings if you’re not satisfied with the result 😊
Hi Roger, a question comes to mind.. With regards to the auto in camera hdr.. Would it work with manual lenses? Or alternatively with an af/mf zoom lens set on manual?
Hi! Thank you for watching and commenting 😊 You ask a good question, one I hadn’t thought about 😊 I don’t own any manual only lenses, but I did try it putting both the camera and the lens (Sigma 18-35 f/1,8) in MF, and by the looks of it it works with MF. But it is just the focus that’s manual, the camera still have control over ISO, aperture and shutter speed. If it will work with a manual only lens that doesn’t have electronic connection with the camera, I don’t know 🤷♂️
If you have the M6 mark ii it does. Make sure you have the newest firmware installed and make sure you in the correct mode depending on how you want to shoot your time laps 😊
Great explanations! I've been a photographer for more than 50 years, but this camera is entirely new to me and it really is rather complicated. The details you present about the camera are just as good as the explanation of basic concepts. Very well done. The one suggestion I'd offer is that you adjust the level of your recording in relation to the music played in the intervals. In this video, that music is a bit startling if the audio is adjusted to a comfortable level for your voice. One small criticism of an otherwise superb instructional video!
