I think a lot of people don't bother starting an Etsy shop because they think it's way too saturated to make sales. I almost didn't start my shop because of that but there's always room for new sellers. Great video :)

I have seen so many articles and videos about Etsy and horror stories and bad experiences people have. This is really making me sceptical. I sell greeting cards and the fees would be expensive for a card.

@@janicemackay2662 hi! Are you selling digital or physical cards?

I sell physical cards. I believe that by receiving one of my cards you are sending a small gift. I sell other items like sign, gnomes, wreaths, ceramic christmas ornaments and ceramic decor. It’s been pretty much local on facebook @Janicescountrycrafts

You have done a great job creating this video! I am in my 60’s and my daughter has convinced me to create an Etsy page for my woodworking crafts. I found this video to be very clear and down to business. A great overview of what I am getting into. Rock on!

Very helpful...hoping to start my etsy shop soon...I am an abstract acrylic artists and I will feature wall art, functional art, upcycled art and one of a kind jewelry...no two pieces EVER the same...I have over 400 pieces ready to go...it will be called "Mimi's Cup Poureth Over." I will call it this because I am a Mimi, the best job I ever had, and, my cup runneth over, I said poureth because, well, my art is acrylic pouring...the Lord has blessed me to be a blessing to others and I plan to donate all profits to those in need as He blesses the work of my hands. I have subscribed and look forward to following your tips...

I’m thinking about starting my shop a little after Christmas and I’m planning on making stickers and decals out of vinyl. Later on I will add other things besides that but that is the main thing that I want to do.

Thanks for this fantastic video! Excellent tips and advice. Luckily I've already done half these things so I'm on the right track! A piece of advice to add, as someone who started a small (and short-lived) business years ago (in the AOL era) is that everything I thought would be hard, was easy (business name, IRS EIN, etc), and everything I thought would be easy, was hard! (marketing, actually putting together the product -- more of a pain than it was worth). Much more simplified/smaller products this time around (and I LOVE making them), so hopefully the second time's the charm for me! Best of luck to you, and other budding entrepreneurs out there!

You can do it! Shipping is really simple once you get the hang of it. You can set up shipping profiles for each item category you sell, so when you are purchasing your labels you simply select the profile and the item is ready to go! It takes seconds. I will definitely be doing a video on it very soon 😊

I know if I even attempt Disney gonna be knocking at my door in 0.5 seconds. Lol I love their stuff but I wish there was a way of verifying before purchasing cause, isn’t that illegal too?

Gave your video a thumbs up because you mention the legal things and getting those in order first when so many videos on RUclips do not. It can cause a lot of avoidable problems down the road if people just jump in without worrying about legal obligations. I would share my name but I am thinking about changing it anyway to be just my real name. I am an artist and a sculptor. I think it would work better with just my own name. My thinking is did van Gogh or da Vinci use fake names? I would just use my last name but it is not as fancy as theirs so I may just use my whole name. :P - Heidi

Hi Sallie! Thank you so much for these videos they mean so much!! I just got my first order from the United States and I'm very confused about if I'm allowed to ship a small $8 sticker as letter-mail to the states? I offer free shipping and decided to open it up to the United States to see if I can get some traffic from there but I have no idea on how to ship it affordably because the next best option is Small packet USA air but that costs $9.23 and I'll be losing money at that point. Thank you once again!! :)

Hey! I am honestly not sure about shipping from Canada to US, I ship first class within the US. You can do US letter, but just know there will not be any tracking so you run into the risk of it getting lost. So sorry I am not 100 percent sure about that!

Hi! I am thinking about starting an Etsy shop and selling custom acrylic paint poured canvases as well as ones that I have done and will have as staple pieces. I am so nervous that these will not sell or there is no market for them.

You say to put a bunch of items out there but I only want to start with layered vinyl decals with specific font they can choose and 3 colors(color.palette). I know I can put examples of names but should I put out simple sayings like "Merry Christmas" or something like that? Thanks for the video 🙂

It's ok to start of with some and just build it up! Maybe add variations like you mentioned, i think it'll do great!

I am not sure about the licensing on cricut. I would definitely read the fine print and see if it says if commercial usd is allowed 😊

How do I find out if something is trademarked? I make a lot of wood signs for myself and my own home, and I have a lot of friends and family who think I should start a little side business. I'm really considering it, but I don't want to run into any legal issues. Any advice helps! Thanks :)

Anytime I am going to sell a new saying I always check the trademark database online. You just type in the saying in the search and it lets you know if there are any restrictions 😊

Hi Sallie😀 just wondering if you know the answer to this. So if I purchase stickers on Amazon that are from a tv show and I put them in kits to sell on Etsy would that be breaking a copyright law? I’ve studied copyrights for a long time years ago but never in this type of instance. ? ❤️ thanks for your time. Maybe one of the subscribers here might know as well

How do you know if someone else is selling the same thing? There are so many shops who sell the same thing but I’m afraid that someone will saying I’m selling there products?

Thank you for your video, you are amazing... I don't understand all about copyright... Etsy is full of Tshirt, svg, Tumblers with mickey mouse, cartoons and movie images... So, why I can't?... A lot of people are selling svg with Mickey Mouse, they don't own that images... you buy that svg image from them and they give you a lot of rules of what you can or can't do with image that really don't belong to them... I will love to start with cartoons images and I don't understand why some people can do it and others don't... 😒🤔☹😫😢😭

I work for a gift and book company. I have an LLC but, not sure if I can go on a social place like Etsy and sell them. Do you have any ideas? Right now for my small business I am struggling to stay above water. Let me know what you think.

I'm thinking of starting a shop because I LOVE making handmade jewelry, but I'm 17. How do I work with legality as a minor?

Thanks for the great video. It is organized and you present so well. I just barely opened my shop (WildeWoodsCompany), and I'm looking forward to applying your tips. I sell deadwood and soon I will add driftwood.
