What are your thoughts on The War Within? 🤔

Long as they keep old expansions unplayable and unrewarding, it will never be ''good for new players'' yes we can experience leveling process of them, but there is so much more to discover than just leveling through their zones

You got some nice mounts there. The bloat is real. As a person with 1004 mounts 892 toys and over 2000 pets It can very daunting for new players to see that number and not feel overwhelmed

I think there's a few good storyline catchup videos from creators like Bellular that can help out if you want to know more around how we get to The War Within. But I think once we're into the expansion, the storyline will hopefully be pretty easy to follow as it's planned out for the next 3 expansions, so should feel a bit more coherent. Hope you enjoy! :)

I dont care about the story/lore to catch up. I cant stick with retail because my rotation opener alone is 30ish steps into a 25 main rotation that may change to 17 extra steps if something procs. I cant handle that as a returning player after many many years of no retail. I tried DF and i couldnt understand how to gear because there was so many different ways of catching up on gear. That was the least of my problems tho. I was frustrated that i couldnt keep up with anyone on the damage meter because if you fuck up 1 major step in a potential 50 step rotation including the opener, main rotation and proc rota. Its just not welcoming as a returning player. And im doing more then fine in wotlk and now cata parsing from 50+ all the way to consistent 99's depending on the class i play.

I also want to add that id love to play retail as well as classic cata/mop. I just hate when i cant carry my own weight in dungeons and raids. Im willing to learn to a certain degree and rerail in its current state has exceeded that point. Its to much to learn rotation wise while also having to learn all mechanics as a returning wow player

This is the absolute best time ever for a new player to start. every single thing they collect and do on their 'journey' on their account will be account wide outside of older reps which have their own speedy methods to grind and they probably wont be working on any time soon as a new player.

That’s not really that relevant to new players. They’ve mentioned that Dragonflight will be the new leveling experience going forward but other than that they’ve made no mentions to changes in the initial leveling experience which is ultimately what new players would be experiencing. I think they need to rework the 10-60/70 experience if they want to bring in new new people. Some way of hitting the main story beats at the same pace it takes to level.
I think this expansion aims more at returning players, which is probably a larger audience than actual new players at this point. In that regard I think what TWW is offering is very appealing to returning players. I started playing again after ten years a few months ago because hero talents and delves sounded awesome.

I love the beta so far. I do hope that they figure out a way to loop old content in more but the game was not built like ff14 so I think it will be difficult for them to do so. It would be cool if they had something like ff14 where there is a book in the inn that you can relive the story. If they give that option i think it would help a lot.
I play all versions of the game and i think they all have their positives. Without a doubt though game play is infinitely better in retail for a player like me.

Haven’t been playing the Beta myself, so excited to hear more about how people are finding it - glad you’re loving it. 🙌🏻

With the upcoming expansions, hoping for a return of the Old Gods, ain't no way us beating on small avatar versions of themselves in the case of Yogg Saron and C'thun was enough to kill them, for War Within, making a bold claim that Anub'arak will be making a triumphant return, be it through resurrection or simply not truly being dead, having him die in a dungeon then a fairly unspectacular raid just isn't the fitting end for him, also hoping Bolvar gets more importance, dude was the next Lich King then just gets beat on by Sylvanas and becomes a background NPC

Yep, if they bring what they said is in store for us, should hopefully be a lot of loose ends to tie and iconic characters along the way!

As long as Blizzard doesn't understand what draws people to Classic (subscriber numbers doubled upon its release) there's no way the next three expansions are going to be successful.

    • @alyssumn3884

They doubled briefly. Then they dropped. Classic players aren't much different. They leave at the end of a season like any retail player. Also retail players don't agree with classic players on many game play designs so implying that in order for retail to succeed we need classic players input is kinda weird. I play both retail and classic. HC being my favorite iteration of classic. I have played the game since the end of vanilla. Retail is a different beast and that's a very good thing. I will never understand this logic.
