How can you know its an improvement if the car aint finished and they heavent driven it on the street nor the track? We dont know anything!! That stock gearbox will brake in to a thousand pieces when they put turbos on that engine!
@@Agent_Clark the LS engine weighs almost the same, if not less, than the flat-6 that it replaces.....every person I know that has done the LS swap says that the back end feels the same and that the balance isn't that much off before doing suspension adjustments.
Lots of parts/money put into it, I would have at least put in bearings and likely forged pistons/rods too. If your going to have twin turbos, might as well be able to take advantage of the boost. Seeing metal has been in the oil from the cam, at least check bearings.
Since the rear motor plate is on bushings, I suggest adding a secondary support up top after you have your intake piping, since it might flex a bit, maybe the bottom takes care of most of it, but it might help if you're getting weird weight transfer behavior
This really makes me want to find a car that has a blown engine and swap it out for an LS! I've seen this a few times and the more I see it, the more I want it!
These shows are absolutely fantastic. Is the part 2 out yet? I can not find it. Incredible accessibility to the V8 from below, spark plugs and exhaust.
May I ask what happened to this car? When will you make a follow up video on it? I’m looking forward to seeing how it runs. I think the LS swap in these Porches are the ultimate!
Man im dying for the next video on this car. Im tackling this swap in the next few months on my C2S and this was a huge motivation boost to complete it.
Well wait It actually weights less than the porshe. From what I saw on some forums. The Porsche engine is an average of 450 lbs for early versions. The ls3 is an average of 430 lbs. Without accessories, engine assembled mass only. 😂
@@TrojanLube69 I believe it, I think people don’t realize how compact and light in weight for being a V8 an LS is. Coyote motors are huge even next to a 7L LS

Just a tip on the valve guide seals use a extension and socket and push them on by hand should go one fairly easy with some lube.. Keep up the good work..

Nice to see these conversions. I put Ford engine into Mazda RX7. Wish i had workshop full of tools. All i had was a few spanners, hacksaw, stick welder and hand drill. And some 1/8 plate. I did have an adapter plate made by drawing out the rear of engine and gear box on tracing paper and had it flame cut out.
Great video. My friend Brett put an LS3 in his 240SX. All of you guys have skills and it shows you have experience. How about a big RUclips sticker over the brand name on the lift. Love you guys!
I really like the welder, he's cool. You really can't get more than about 400HP out of an M97 engine rebuilt to 4.2 liters (which makes for a fantastic car) so if you want more HP and you're not a purist (no 996/997.1 owners are) then by all means swap to a simple Chevy engine. I would R&R Porsche engines singlehandedly all day long including tubos and often you'd have 1cm/1/3" clearance between breaking shit and not ha ha. The $500 lift table from Harbor Freight is a great help in engine R&R on Porsches.

Owner of a 928 GTS Manual for 20 years, and always fancied a V8 911. Sold my 993 Turbo 4 because it was too dull in 4WD. It had the factory stage 2 kit with 450bhp. Turbo lag was a bit too much and the exhaust note not not vibrant enough. Beautiful to look at though.
Yes. I opted for coolant cooled because it would be easy to cycle it in, and this will be a street car that gets driven alot. Given the proximity to motor heat, we decided it would help!
Great watch, two concerns, this is a 911, LS3 motor sits way higher in chassis moving centre of gravity north!! This will compromise handling!! You mention the importance of cleaning the head bolt holes and block faces, no mention however of the extremely important removal of the resultant fine metal filings laying in the motor’s oil galleries from the worn cam lobes which will destroy the new internals!!
Can you discuss weight difference with the swap and also the wiring harness/ brain box ...how will the new motor be inter-connected with the Porsche dash electronics? I like the calm professional approach.
The wiring harnesses is a plug And play system from wiring specialties. CPE has created canbus integration modules, that make it work with all canbus systems. All factory gauges work, stock gas pedal, full integration.
