I respect your effort and the amount of time you spend to make this but I disagree with your opinion. CH has a lot more than a printed t-shirt and hoodies. I used to check CH at Selfridges and I saw some rather impressing sweaters, jeans, jackets, belts etc. The level of the craftsmanship is top-notch and the combination between leather and silver jewels is to be admired.

Ch is more on silver jewelry and leather biker jackets, but the craftsmanship of every silver they make is top notch. Hoodies, jeans, hats are just a merch with their silver jewelry attached to it imo.
As a owner of a brand myself. The part when you talk about merch was really good. Clothing should be more than a graphic design alluding to a pop culture reference

Chrome Hearts from what I know prioritized more on their jewelry than their apparels. I have several vintage hoodies and shirts and truth to be told; the quality of their apparel is equivalent to 4 pack shirts from Walmart. What’s interesting about it is their apparels were made by different clothing companies that had various quality issues.
It’s certainly interesting that Chrome Hearts recently returned to the spotlight although it’s different style and take.
You're right, historically their jewelry has been most respected. But recently the "hypebeast"/"influencer" set has picked up more on things like t-shirts, hoodies, and caps from them.
I see, that’s very interesting. I wonder if Chrome Hearts makes their own line of t-shirts and/or hoodies or stuck with the “buy it in bulk” way ( assuming it’s the latter). I personally think that this hype train ruined the Chrome Hearts reputation and their origins although I’m very surprised in how much it can skyrocket an ordinary shirt into a “luxury” item.

This is an accurate example of how clothing brands can benefit from celebrities wearing their product. I like chromehearts and personally own 3 hoodies and to be honest, the design is nothing special, looks like something I can pick up at zumies for $40. I like the brand and jewelry but don’t see the reason to charge $500 for a hoodie that looks like I can thrift it for $20.

In all honesty, I have an appreciation from a distance of the craftsmanship put into the jewelry and other goods like that. Seeing the price applied to the apparel with bare minimum design I personally would see it as a poor investment.

@@LOWluxury thank u :) back when I had a stint of liking clothes I had no chance of being able to afford I had bought some pieces from supreme when I could. I had to be absolutely sure I wanted it and that the design had to captivate me enough to drop a good amount of dough straight from their site. Never bought secondhand. So by that standard I'd feel ripped off if I convinced myself to buy a CH tee/hoodie.

The company has evolved incredibly it was known solely as a biker rockstar brand that noticed in the last 5-10 years that targeted audience completely changed to more of a hype & urban culture. They completely re marketed the brand with the help of Bella Hadid & Drake to say the most recent names. But to say the entire company hasn’t evolved based upon the logo & graphic ideas being similar? People say their jewelry is the “real brand”, but I believe that’s bullshit. Their jewelry is overpriced and very flimsy. Their sunglasses are the price of a pair of Cartier glasses and nowhere even close to the craftsmanship or durability. Seriously, if it weren’t for the brand value, you’d swear they were a pair of knock-off with the quality product they are.

This discussion is quite easily solvable: if it looks good subjectively, then it's worth the asking price. All other factors are irrelevant; if a person enjoys how something looks, they will purchase that piece correlating to their demand. There's no need to talk about an evolution in design language, or similar factors, because that misses the point of why people purchase a clothing piece: they do it because they find a certain piece nice looking. It's that simple, really.

This is absolutely true, and a lot of high end designer brands also suck at it! But the best ones are able to find ways to make even those "boring" staple pieces unique and interesting, but Chrome Hearts are among the worst of the bunch from that perspective.

You didn't cover their patchwork on denim or jackets which is honestly really sick and unique and you hardly went over their jewelry which is what theyre really known for. Their tshirts and hoodies are really cringe I agree but their pieces involving patchwork and jewelry crafting are all top tier.

Not true at all, look at the rest of my channel - I'm a big fan of Balenciaga and other crazy expensive designer brands. While I certainly think the cost to quality ratio is an important one to consider, I've never written off a designer solely based on price.
I know you just made this video for views but if you have owned their silver jewelry before it really is one of a kind. The only other silver jewelry makers (handmade in the USA) that come close to their quality is Travis walker double cross and Bill Wall Leather. Lone Ones is another amazing brand unknown in the US. If you also handled their leather goods before you wouldn't talk about the value. T shirts and sweatshirts I agree. Nothing special.

I said they're an underground brand who got started making leather jackets for a movie and grew from there - same exact thing as you. But if a brand's gonna charge thousands for jackets and jeans, and hundreds for tees, then they have to be compared to other companies who make clothes in that same price range - i.e. high fashion companies. Every brand has a different philosophy and message but that doesn't mean they can't be compared. Then they collabed with bella hadid and that was the nail in the coffin. There is nothing of substence to this brand other than hype, there is no concept, there is no philosophy, it's just about thriving off of celebrity culture which i will absolutely not endorse.

The whole video sounds like a 6 grade presentation made in 10 minutes. There's no depth to your critique, its entirely derived from your own personal preference and your lack of understanding for markets.
The main critique of your video is that chrome hearts is over priced in terms of quality they are offering. But thats the thing, you're not their target market and I don't think you realize that. The fashion market is huge and companies will choose which areas of the market they are targeting. For example, H&M target market is for people that likes to look good but are on a budget and dont really care about the quality. People will buy it, look and feel good and toss it a year later. There is also no brand value derived by the consumer from wearing a H&M t shirt.
There are other companies' target market is for people that demand high quality goods for a low price and that looks good.
Chrome hearts' target market is for people that want to look good/like the brand, good quality and are inelastic to the prices set by chrome hearts.
Your demand for clothing is more price sensitive regardless of brand. Sure you might splurge out once in a while, but you'll always check the price tag before making a purchase regardless of how much you like it. People that buy chrome hearts are less price sensitive to chrome hearts' products. You could call them stupid for spending 10000$ on a t shirt but they might not care about the opportunity cost of spending that much on a t shirt or they are just rich or they are willing to risk it.
You say fashion has to evolve for some reason but thats flawed, some designs dont have to evolve. Evolution may not always be a good thing. You don't have to reinvent the Levis denim jacket for example. But, when you compared the t shirt with the long sleeved shirt, there is still change. So you're wrong to say there is no evolution to begin with and your critique is again, your personal preference. The photo taken by resellers all have different designs.
Your comparison between merchandise and fashion is wrong as well. Fashion embodies everything people would wear while merchandise is just a subcategory under fashion. Designer companies would have a fashion element and it would have a merchandise element. Both don't have to be mutually exclusive.
Overall its a pretty trash analysis.
I mean it's an opinion piece. I respect your opinion on what makes CH a worthwhile and valuable brand, it just isn't my opinion. But that's okay!
I think your take on me and my sensitivities is a bit flawed, though. Of course I pay attention to price, because I'm not rich - but neither are most of the people who buy CH, or any luxury brand believe it or not! Just walk around any low-income urban neighborhood. You're actually way more likely to see luxury brands on the people there than you are to see them in the wealthy suburbs. I buy Louis Vuitton, Gucci, Dior, pretty much every top-tier fashion brand who I feel offers a product that is at least somewhat commensurate with the price they charge (although I don't think there's a single high fashion brand that is worth every single dollar they charge, but that's a subject for another day). The problem is that, in my opinion, Chrome Hearts clothing does not respect your dollar in the same way that other brands at their same price point do, in terms of the design level that they give you. Again, you disagree - and that is awesome! Buy what makes you happy, for whatever price you're willing to pay.
And I do want to speak to one other criticism I get a lot for this video - not from you, so this is more addressed to whoever reads this as a whole. People like to tell me that the reason I don't like Chrome Hearts is because I'm just too stupid to "get it". While I'm definitely an idiot, I do understand the aesthetic - I just don't like it. For an example of a similar brand I DO like, look at Enfants Riches Deprimes. They do for punk clothing what Chrome Hearts do for biker clothing. I grew up in the hardcore punk scene, so the ERD aesthetic really speaks to me. And you could say exactly the same about them that I say about CH - that they make simple graphic tees that cost about 20x too much for what they are. But if you look at the breadth of ERD's designs, there are actual messages there that don't exist in CH. There's humor, irony, and politics in ERD, while Chrome Hearts is kind of trash luxury simply for luxury's sake.And when I say "trash luxury" I don't mean that they're trash, I mean that their aesthetic is intentionally trashy.
