I've done over 9,000 klms on my GT Continental in Australia on some of the best riding roads anywhere! I think it's a great bike, good for everyday if you wish and fine for longer trips. I'm 6"2 and weigh 95kgs and have no problems with size or lack of power!

Hey Chris . Thank you . That’s reassuring that your stature feels comfortable on this bike .
When I grew up in Mumbai , my friend had a RE 350 Bullet . And I used to think that was a “big” bike . Do I had a 125cc Yamaha Rx100 at that time . 1983
Fast forward... I am now in New York for last 26 years . I had. Yamaha R1 which I sold and few years ago got a Victory Vegas 8 ball , 1635cc . Over the years I started liking bigger and bigger bikes and started thinking that big bad-ass bikes are cool . Especially when I go to Daytona bike week and other bike events . But with the resurgence of this Royal Enfield bikes , though I had this desire , I had always thought it may be “ too small “ for me . It’s funny ... I am 6’ and only 156 Lb . Haha .
Thanks for reassuring, I will go and test ride the new RE cafe racer in Ice-queen , and probably buy it this summer😊

I'm in love with my Conti GT650. Had no intention of getting another bike ( just turned 60) but knew about the RE reboot and liked the singles, always been a fan of 500 singles. Dropped in to have a casual look to kill some time, and a black and gold GT with single seat was on display. Love at first sight, exactly how I've aways tried to customise my bikes. That was friday, bought it on monday, unridden. I'd read all the reviews of better riders than I, no need to test. Fiddled with bar positions, whacked on a set of cheap emgo mufflers( re-baffled) bar ends, and it is simply the most satisfying and easy riding bike I've ridden. Underpowered? My last bike was an 84 air cooled ducati bevel desmo sport 900 and I believe this little sweetheart would win thru the winding hilly bits . Lovely machine😋

Thanks for a great review. As a 57 year old returning rider after 30 years, I am so glad I recently gave in to my heart and got one. I got the black magic scheme - reminds me of the JPS F1 paint scheme of the early '70s. I love your comment out it being 'gentlemanly'. While I like the idea of being an outlaw biker, reality is a wee bit different ;)

I used to ride back in late college years up to my pre-married life on a BMW R50 S. During this pandemic, I had a bit of time to contemplate on going back to riding and I’m glad I did. I recently also bought a Yamaha 900 GT Tracer and everyone has said “so you’ll not be riding the Conti anymore, then?” Absolutely not! They are two totally different bikes and for me it has just reinforced what a beautiful, back to basics, fun riding experience the Conti gives. The other re 650 or the Interceptor has less sportier stance and riding position than continental gt650. Gt is more leaned into and more connected feeling. Where int660 is more upright (sportishly upright) and is made for longer rides without putting strain on shoulders and wrist. Gt650 has a better front end feel at high speed where the Interceptor can feel bit light at front on higher speeds. Interceptor is more easy to live with in heavy traffic conditions. Rear suspension settings on gt and int are also bit different , int 650 runs on softer settings out if the factory where as gt runs on more stiffer settings.
      Rest all is same.

I'm curious about a few of your mods:
    1) Why did you move down the top triple clamp to below the clip-on clamps?
    2) Is the flap behind the front wheel a mudflap or a nail deflector?
    3) Does the added center stand interfere with the pegs or does it need any alteration of the bike to fit?
    4) Are the foot pegs with the pavement feelers stock parts? Have they felt the pavement without *you* feeling the pavement? :-)

    • @letsreviewit8925
      @letsreviewit8925  4 года назад

Hi Dave, thanks for watching, the bar riser kit extends the top of the fork so it looks like the forks have been pushed up (but they haven't). Its an extended mud flap, the dealer fitted to prevent salt from getting all over the bike in winter. The centre stand doesn't require any modification to fit. I believe the foot peg are standard and I did manage to get enough lean angle to touch them down a few times but I didn't want to lean much further. I hope this helps. You can speak to the guys at Cooperb Motorcycles who are really knowledgeable about Royal Enfield bikes.

@@letsreviewit8925 Well I've watched the whole video and you definitely try to give the impression that Royal Enfield has been in Redditch continuously making bikes, and that's nowhere near correct. Also, the woman whose 'ass' appears to be getting attention from some comments here - first you say she's the photographer, and now she's your wife? Well, I hope she knows. Looks a bit exploitative to me. Anyway, looks like you've done your job for the advertisers. Easy job by the look of things. These bikes are universally popular. Penelope Jacobs Lol, at 2:43 he clearly states it’s not a British brand anymore, but that there’s a design team in Redditch. He even goes on to say that the reason they can get the bikes so cheaply in the UK is due to the fact that they’re made in India. Sounds to me like you were too busy trying to see some bobs & vegana to even listen. Or just too busy attempting to find a reason to be offended by a completely inoffensive motorcycle review video🤦‍♂️

For me it was a choice between the Enfield or last of the air cooled Thruxtons. I went for the Thruxton but for all the same reasons you love the Enfield, no unnecessary gadgets or gimmicks, and plenty of customising potential. I'm 58 and this will be my last bike.

  • @johnstanley7442

As far as "the place of manufacture," my supposedly "Japanese" Kawasaki was (very) well-built in Thailand.
Here in the States, we still see Lee Enfield carbines, obviously of British design, but well-built in INDIA. They've even been imported to the States from India to be heavily-reconditioned and updated, with weather-resistant finishes, new barrels & stocks, and sold as VERY-robust, utilitarian long arms. I literally grew-UP using British Lee Enfield rifle AND Jungle Carbine variants, and I would not hesitate to use one of the Indian-produced versions. Their actions are lightning-fast, and virtually indestructible. Meanwhile, the TURKS have been building excellent German, Czech, American, Italian, and Belgian designs in THEIR plants, and they are excellent, as well.
So-long as the manufacturing is proper, then there's a carry-through of the original DESIGN brilliance. This bike, with its BRITISH-designed engine, and its British Harris-designed frame, carefully-built, and beautifully-painted, along with the Interceptor, are FINALLY living-up to what they could be, ESPECIALLY at such a modest price. No, it's not some MV Agusta Superbike, but let's be honest: how many people ACTUALLY "need" to be exceeding the Speed of Sound, when not on a closed racing circuit? I'm just glad to see bikes like this "back," albeit with SOME modernized bits, like electric starting and fuel injection.

Wow, really classy. Loving the vintage look to go with the bike as well. Out of interest how would a more tradition, retro feeling bike like this measure up to something more modern. There are electric bikes out there now, how would this compare? I've not really heard a lot about the performance of electric bikes but with the way more and more vehicles are heading that way I would be interested in seeing a review for one.
