Thank you so much Heather. I'll have to show you the piece up close once I've got it even cleaner than it is now. Coober Pedy is a fascinating place like you said and well worth the explore 😍
Hi Drew..Glad you survived the Dust storm ⛈️ that you were streaming live…!! Thanks for the Shout out also.. Well that shell 🐚 should polish up okay. I just happen to have all the scented dremel grinders and polish bits.So if you want a go at cleaning the outer dirt off.. You are most welcome 🙏 to have a go with my guidenc.. Cheers🍻👍⛏️
Cheers Famo and yes I'd love to see if we can try get it just a lil nicer hey. That sounds like a good project and thank you for your offer mate. I'll have to come up 🍻
Same here Kellie. It's something I've always loved. I've got bits of opal I bought a while ago but had never got to Coober Pedy till last week. Hope you're keeping well my friend 😍
It really is. It's something I plan on doing even locally a bit to see what other rocks and things might glow ✨️. Thank you so much for watching and being a great friend and awesome member on the channel Geoffrey 😍 🤗
It is really unique isn't it. Also fascinating how many warning signs are around with "no running backwards" eek 😂 . Thank you for your comment and welcome to my channel too
@DrewsAdventuresGo the fact that people live underground cuz of the heat is mind blowing. I stayed at an underground hostel there and went stargazing at night. Simply awesome. There is a book about Romanian gymnast brothers turned opal miners that I bought there. Craziest book I ever read
@odditylocker yes night skies with so little light pollution makes it fantastic to sky and star watch hey. Some of the stories I've heard make you think omg 😂 . I will google that book mate 👍🏼
It is well worth a trip Brun. Grab a good UV torch and go there at night and a decent ordinary torch and you never know what you'll find. Could of kept me there all night aha 😍 😂 ✨️
It was such a great place to explore Silvana. Have you ever got up there? You definitely should try it and it didn't break the tight bank I'm on either which was great aha. Hope you're keeping well my friend 😍🤗
@@DrewsAdventuresGo I'd love to go up there but not in Summer lol I have my friend living there now so I'd probably have a place to stay. Sadly I've pretty much never been hardly anywhere Pt Victoria when I was a kid and Hindmarsh Island a few years ago, apart from that just drives around the place probably no more than two hours away, never been interstate, I've always felt like I live in the Truman show, something always comes up when I get a chance to go anywhere or I have to go alone. Glad you made it back safely 😊
@silvanastephan4379 oh fair enough. I'd say I've been lucky that I have seen a fair bit of SA and probably half Victoria too over my lifetime but there's so much out there to explore. We should organise a trip for you, Heather, Werner and I at some point 😍
Thank you so much Angel and actually Coober Pedy has a lot of abandoned stuff but I was told not to wander too much alone. I think I'll do a 2nd trip for urbex soon enough 🤞🏻😍
Andamooka has more of the (can't think of its name) but it's slightly different colour opal hey. It's amazing that whole region. I need to go see Andamooka. I couldn't quite work out of Andamooka is underground in the same way as Coober Pedy is as a town? 😍
G'day Drew.. That was cool.. Night noodlin... We love watching Opal Hunters. Foxtel.. Wonder if the gold chemicals/acid would clean them up? Hope all is well. 🦘🎃🦘
Thank you Dee. Yes night time was about 25-30°C which was nice for noodling. I think you can use some acids but I'm not totally sure. I mostly see people use various grades of sandpapers or dremmel like tools to shape and cut the opal and clean it up ✨️😍 I'm not bad thank you too and hope you are both keeping well my friends 🤗😍
@annab3LL3TV thank you and yes for 3 nights of about 2 hours each time it was surprisingly really fruitful in terms of the returns (given it's free there) 😍
I'm so jealous that you guys have that out there turns out the US doesn't have a national gemstone because we have so many different ones but a lot of our states have state gemstones. I went to the Smithsonian institute in Washington DC about 11 years ago and my favorite one was always opal. That's so cool that you just take it out of the ground there Do people take it out of the ground and try to sell it Like is that a thing Is it legal etc? In the US we find scorpions with black lights!
Oh I'd love to do the Smithsonian Nannerz 🥰. Yes opal is one of those few Gemstones which every turn of them you see a different colour or few. If you ever get to Australia you'll have to try it. And yes you can indeed sell whatever you find from the public noodling area 😍. One fellow I met up there randomly his daughter got a full fossil of a trilobite kind thing that was all opalised and sold it I think he said for about $200 AUD 🥰
You'll have to try come and try opal fossicking Geoff. I wonder if there are similar gem stone spots in NSW? I know Queensland has some sapphire places to explore but not sure with NSW mate?
Aha yeah I was on that road though (William Creek Road) the other day and I can only imagine what it'd be like to feel an earthquake out there. Probably would sound like a truck or train passing by 🤔. I have only felt 1 earthquake in my life and that was in Adelaide city that time aha
I've experienced 4 now. Two in Adelaide. Minor tremor. And 2 in Japan. One was really mild. 2nd was in March this year and building shook for a solid minute. But apparently that was minor. Didn't feel like it!
That was very interesting Drew. Glad you got to find some opal Looking forward to seeing more videos from your trip

They're fascinating shows aren't they Tracie. You'll have to try visit Coober Pedy one day ✨️😍
I was here in 2000 and it was by far the most interesting town I've ever been to. So many no explosives signs!

The fossils are cool, friends of mine found a shell up at White cliffs, they are rare and can be worth a lot of money.
Yes you're spot on Aaron. The shells and fossil style opals are worth a bit indeed. Hope you and Dee are well my friends 😍

It's a really pretty gem hey John. Have you ever had any opal yourself? 😍
