Drought Ruined this Outback Station
Просмотров 455Месяц назад
Kanyaka Station was a short lived, but once thriving pastoralist farming outpost in the Flinders Ranges region of South Australia. The Station lasted from 1852 to 1888 before it was abandoned due to a lack of water and an ongoing drought in the area. Come with me as we wander around what remains of old Kanyaka Station. Marvel at the still standing walls and impressive size of this place. Join m...
The Worst Street in Adelaide?
Просмотров 33 тыс.Месяц назад
A street in Adelaide's inner western suburbs has recently made the local newspaper headlines. Littered with abandoned homes where crime is thriving, this once peaceful area has, until very recently, had a bad reputation. Come with me as I talk to a local resident who's had enough and wander through and around some of the abandoned properties on this street. This was filmed before The Advertiser...
An Underground Museum with $150K opals
Просмотров 298Месяц назад
Umoona Underground Museum and Mine is an incredible showcase of both opal mining and life in the harsh outback of South Australia. One of the most unique things is that this Museum is completely underground in the township of Coober Pedy in South Australia where most residents live in dugouts due to the intense outback heat. Come with me as I explore the many displays inside this museum and fin...

Mick Skorpos, the bigger operators didn't like him to much. He was always discounting.
Yeah that doesn't surprise me Andrew. True competition is never liked in the petrol and big corporate industries, unfortunately
firstly a happy New Year to New Living in SA seems an advantage in finding these abandoned Properties / Ghost towns. they are so interesting I have heard there are a few over the Nullabour Plain. I live on the western side of Melbourne and I am not sure where I could go to discover these time capsules Regards Trevor
Thank you Trevor and Happy New year to you and your family and loved ones mate. Interesting you mention West of Melbourne cos I lived for a time in Hoppers Crossing there and I remember there being some older farm homes even there when I lived there. They were all bought up by developers for new housing projects but I'm sure you may have some luck on the outskirts of the Melbourne region mate. If you do make some videos of some please keep me posted I'll support you keenly. As for the Nullarbor I have been over that way but never spotted a lot, myself. Coober Pedy had a few abandoned places but asking people there about who could give permission I was told most of the homes were squatted in or used for nefarious activities and not safe to explore, unfortunately. Cheers for your support my friend and Happy New Year to you and your family and loved ones 😃 👍🏼
very nice spot in its day, I like to visit old ruins too, detect etc. nice vid Drew, thanks for sharing
Yes I really need to try work out how to get a permission to do a detect. I'd love to do that Brun and I love what you and Jay find in these places 💯 😍
Where is this?... If you could let me know that'd be awesome
I honestly can't remember Chantel but my friend The Paranormal Polynesian Travels may remember where ✌️
@DrewsAdventuresGo if you do eventually figure out please let me know, thanks!
Wow Drew how awesome! My heart breaks seeing that radio rotting away! 😢. Thank you for this absolutely loved it my friend! Much ❤
Same here my friend. I reckon it'd be great donated to a museum and restored if it was possible to do so. The sounds of those old radios (Werner has a few) are something else and quite beautiful 😍. Thank you for watching my friend 🤗
Cool find Drew
Thank you so much and I hope you and your partner and family have a wonderful New Year 2025 my friends 🤗
Quite the place!
It sure is. Australia is a harsh land where not much survives our natural droughts or flooding rains and our animals too (termites are rampant here). I hope you and your family are having a wonderful 2025 so far too and it is a year of awesomeness for you all 😍🤗
That floor definitely looks untrustworthy. Reminds me of modern day politicians 😂
Ahah so true Nev. It was pretty much rotten away in there and the roof too 😳 . Cheers for watching and Happy New year for you and your family and loved ones mate 👍🏼
Very cool and sombre video of the past, of someones home the owners having long since moved on it really does make you think. Of what life was like in that house back when it was full of life and hope for the future. Werner had done a video of the abandoned town of Olary. Would be interesting to see what is left of Olary since the last time they were there two years ago.
Thank you so much Ghastly and indeed it takes you back to a different world when inside these old places. Olary is fascinating and I think we could probably go back and see what's changed since, for sure 😃
Happy New Year too to you and your family and loved ones 😃
@@DrewsAdventuresGo Thank you and a Happy New Year to you. 😊 It would be really interesting to see what has changed if anything in Olary. Also have to wonder what other ghost towns exist in South Australia, and Australia wide. Did a Google search for other ghost towns in South Australia seems that there are 42 other ghost towns here.
Oh this is a good one for me Drew, I'll assume Werner had a hard time turnin his back on that old tube radio as I would've also. The magazine was a good historic find also, the occupant had time on their hands as all the crossword puzzles appear complete including the giant one. Lookin forward to do a rewatch pause, zoom and read on the magazine later. More comments from me may follow... Stayin Tuned! 👍🤠 🇺🇸
Yes Werner was in awe of the old radio, as well, John. The few that he had collected from antique dealers have a really beautiful old world sound to them, too. You'll love to see the details in the magazine. A whole different world of printing and writing and advertising in those times. Thank you again John and I hope you are starting out 2025 healthy and happy 😍 🤗
So sad such a beautiful old house, thanks for sharing with us all
Thank you Silvana and yes this one sadly looked strong but inside was slowly withering away 😢
Hi Drew, it would be nice to have the money to do up a old farm house. Great video thanks for your time
I agree mate and I think if only I had some lottery win to at least repair a few as living museums I'd make them for those wanting to see life from the past. Thank you so much and hope 2025 is starting out well my friend 😃
G'day Drew.. Ooo.. major treasures under those boards... A 1977 Post... wow.. I remember my primary school teacher's birthday.. 7th of the 7th, 1977. He turned 30 (soooo old).. He he.. Old now if he is still 'kicking'... Great video.. 🦘🏵🦘
Thank you so much Dee. I'd love to see if they'd let me check under the floorboards but I was mostly worried I'd end up with a broken ankle 🤭 . Aww there you go. What a cool memory hey 🥰 . Sounds like he was a good teacher and they stick with us a lifetime in our memories I think. Thank you so much my friend 🤗😍
@DrewsAdventuresGo Ahhh... he was a lazy mungrel of a teacher.. Mr Frigo. He got in big shit. He took handle off 1mtr ruler and belted kids buts with it. Hope his ears are burning if he is still with us!.. Bye..
We are all partly to blame . We support woollies, coles , aldi ,before the little guy who couldn't buy in bulk and sell cheap.
So true Andrew. We all choose convenience generally as much as we hate to admit it
Obviously the Port Adelaide/Enfield council would rather fine people for leaving there bin out than get owners to clean up rubbish houses.
It seems that way Steve in recent times. It's a strange world we are living in sometimes.
Happy New Year 🎉🎉🎉 Drew!
Thank you so much my friend and I hope it's fantastic for you and your family and loved ones and I'm excited for more of your park adventures and more this year 🤗😍
Like 27 👍 Happy New Year Drew 🎉❤
Thank you so much Gloria and I hope you and your family have a wonderful 2025 ahead my friend 🤗💯

Hi Heather ❤ Happy New Years 🎉
Thank you Heather and we missed you there last night but it was lovely up there and we were lucky we didn't pick the usual lookout as it was crowded ahah 🎉🎆🤗
Happy new year full of blessings galore
Thank you so much Geoffrey and right back at you and thank you for your support and friendship my awesome Canadian bestie 😍🤗
Really felling sorry for myself for missing this. Happy New Year Drew! At the time I write this we have over 12 hours to go until '25. Played once and yet to watch. Stayin Tuned! 👍🤠 🇺🇸
Oh don't stress John it's always here for you to replay my friend and early Happy New Year for you and your family and loved ones too and may 2025 be awesome for you 🤗✨️😍

Thank you so much Angel and I hope you and your family and loved ones have a wonderful New Year too my awesome friend 🤗😍✨️🎆
🤣🤣❤️
Gotta be motivated haha 😂 . We haven't actually gone for a few weeks eek
@DrewsAdventuresGo 😆😆
The reason abandoned servo's are left for so long is due to soil contamination from the underground petrol tanks. The authorities just keep testing that soil until the contamination levels are safe. It's not until then that demolition and redevelopment can begin which often takes 30 + years.
That is quite interesting and I thought that that may be the case Michael. Do the tanks tend to leak into the soil, then, over time? Thank you for sharing that mate and your reply about Mick too. It's a shame we are monopolised with our petrol in South Australia unfortunately and the smaller ones seem to fall victim to a certain "chain"
❤ Totally Australian 🤣
Absolutely 💯 . I always think of them as running bushes lol
@DrewsAdventuresGo So true
G'day Drew.. On a mission.. Nearest water hole. They are as "tough as nails"... Its amazing how they survive, like the:- stinking wild goats, mungrel wild boar & the fence wrecking roos & camels.. Great stuff.. 🦘🎇🦘
They sure are resilient, Dee and so true too 😍
Watching ads full support
Thank you so much Susana and I hope you and your family have a wonderful 2025 my friend 🤗
This is a staple in Toronto Vie 💚💚💚
They're so cool, Vie. I think they're something we could borrow in Australia aha. Welcome to my channel too 😊
Awesome Drew! 👍 ❤
Thank you so much and I hope you are well and have a wonderful New Year 2025 my friend 😍🤗
Mick Skorpos ! The petrol discount KING !!!! He used to sell cheap fuel in defiance because the government was ripping us off so much (and still are).
It's a pity he couldn't make a come back somehow 💯
@@DrewsAdventuresGo He sold so cheap he lost money selling it. He had all the extra pumps installed because people were coming from everywhere for it, and the traffic was queued up halfway down Marion Road.
One bloke and all the kids. Looks like jack shit nothing out there for them to eat or drink Must do it tough hey Drew. Wonder what the Survival ratio is , for the Chicks. 🦩🦩🦩😊
I wonder the exact same Christian. They are very resourceful but also prone to so much risk out there. Smart survivalists 🥰
The reason I would suspect why it has been sitting there for a long time unchanged would come down to lead content. Where I grew up in South Geelong there is a very old engineering business still running in rundown state that I sure would have been redeveloped long a go in townhouses if not for lead having such a red hot property values there also Know of a similar servo in Sunshine Victoria that sat like that for 15 to 20 years for those reasons
That makes sense, Trevor, as I think petrol had lead content in it until some time in the 90s?
Looks amazing Merry Christmas
Its a shame some people dont appreciate public housing dont look after them anymore no pride to keep lawn tidy i lived in public housing as a child but everyone tried to keep their places nice and were grateful
This is very true, Gilly. I wish that there was some way to encourage folks to keep up with the basics of home maintenance. It would be good for them themselves plus their neighbours and communities.
