There were two...Trio II came out in the late 90s, plus Western Wall with just Linda in the late 90s...there is a Trio box 3CD with the 2 albums and a disc of rarities & unreleased...
Definitely need to react to Trio. Dolly, Emmylou and Linda Rondstadt!! One of THE best ensembles EVER!!!! Their angelic voices in their own right is above anything you will EVER hear!!a,
Chuck Berry wrote it while in prison in 1964, Emmy Lou did it in 1977. I believe the guitarist to her right on stage is a young Rodney Crowell, she helped him get started. Discovered by Jerry Reed, he was with her band 1975 - 1977; a talented songwriter, his solo career took off in the mid 80s. Check out his 1986 song “I Couldn’t Leave You If I Tried”.
I saw Emmylou a few months ago in concert and she still sounds fantastic! My favorite song from her is her duet with Don Williams called "If I Needed You" on her "Cimarron" album! Such a great album also!
Emmylou could do it all, and her Hot Band was truly hot. Thirty years ago, I saw her at an outdoor concert in 90-degree weather and she sang and played for two and a half hours -- rock, folk, country and blues. Despite the heat, she had 15,000 fans dancing and singing with her the entire time. As we left, my brother (who is notoriously hard to please) proclaimed "That was the best concert I've ever been to!" You really can't appreciate how spectacular Emmylou was by listening to a recording. She's one of those artists you truly have to see in person.
Emmy Lou and Mark Knopfler cut a record togrther called All The Road Running. Emmy Lou's voice is showcased beautifully on the tracks If This Is Goodbye and All The Road Running. Her voice has always melted my heart, especially on her slow ballads. Always enjoy your reactions, TY.
I was scanning thru the comments to see if anyone had mentioned this! Absolutely phenomenal. Several folks mentioned Gramm Parsons - Emmylou performed the song she wrote after Grammy’s death, “Boulder to Birmingham” as part of this tour (not sure if it’s on the album but the video is here on RUclips).
The Mark & Emmylou duets are stunning! I remember picking up All the Roadrunning after also getting Western Wall (with Linda Ronstadt). In both cases, I couldn't stop listening.
Give a listen to Emmylou + Linda Ronstadt "Can't Help It If I'm Still In Love W I th You", Emmylou, Linda, + Dolly,"The Sweetest Gift", Emmylou +The Band- "Evangeline ". Even singing with other people she stands out!
Emmylou was one of the singing voices in the siren scene of Oh Brother, Where Art Thou. Along with Alison Krauss and Gillian Welch. The song is "Don't Leave Nothin' But The Baby".
She was discovered by Gram Parsons of the Byrds, and Flying Burrito Brothers. She sang backup for Gram on his albums, so you might say she started in Rock, well, country rock.
Part of Emmylou's appeal is the excellent backing band she put together for her records and tours. Two of the players in this video, Emory Gordy on bass and Glen D Hardin on piano were also members of Elvis Presley's touring band, and Emmylou had to schedule her tours for when Elvis was not touring in order to keep these guys in her band.
Rodney Crowell on guitar and vocals in her band became a very accomplished artist in his own right. He was also married to Johnny Cash’ daughter Rosanne.
I don’t think this is as much a different side of Emmylou as it is a different type of song. This was first performed and written by Chuck Berry but Emmylou put her stamp on it. Uma Thurman and John Trovolta danced to this in Pulp fiction and brought the song back into the limelight. I love this song no matter who sings it.
At one point in her career, she was often referred to as the Queen of Rockabilly music, so yes, Amber hit the nail on the head when she said the song was a mix of country and rock!
Y’all need to check out the Trio: Emmylou Harris, Dolly Parton, and Linda Ronstadt joined forces for a few albums. Three heavenly voices joined together is awesome!
YAY, YAY, YAY!!! I think Emmylou's voice is SO ANGEL-LIKE!! LOVE HER!! THANKS for reacting to her! Love her song: Blue Kentucky Girl! or: Beneath Still Waters - Amber will appreciate the lyrics on that one!!! MADE MY DAY!!! :)
The guy to EmmyLou’s right, singing with her mostly and playing guitar, is Rodney Crowell. He’s a great Country singer in his own right. He was once married to Rosanne Cash, Johnny Cash’s daughter. I can’t remember one of his songs at the minute, Rosanne did a great song called “Tennessee Flat Top Box”. At least, I think that’s the title. Haven’t heard it in quite a while. “Many a Lost and Lonesome Highway” is one by Rodney I was trying to think of.
It is indeed Tenn Flat Top Box. Roseanne decided to record it after remembering she had heard it around the house as a kid. She had heard her Dad sing it. She didn't know until she mentioned it to her manager or producer as a song she wanted to cut that the reason her Dad had sung it was because he wrote it! Great tune.
@@jeffdetmer4681 Rodney Crowell's critically acclaimed album 1988's Diamonds & Dirt produced five consecutive No. 1 singles during a 17-month span in 1988 and 1989: "It's Such a Small World" (a duet with Cash), "I Couldn't Leave You If I Tried," "She's Crazy For Leavin'," "After All This Time" and "Above and Beyond"
Emmylou's first gained wide attention as a backing and co-lead vocalist in the band of the legendary Gram Parsons. I highly recommend the tune "Ooh Las Vegas" from the Gram Parsons album Return of the Grievous Angel - the harmonies Gram and Emmylou create are otherworldly.
Two of my favorite different-sounding Emmy Lou Harris songs are Crescent City (written by Lucinda Williams) and High Powered Love. Love the videos too.
My favorite Emmylou is still her earliest recordings, when she sang harmony with the phenomenal Gram Parsons. Gram was a member of the Byrds, partied with the Stones, lived too fast and died too young, and Emmylou began her career singing along with Gram -We’ll sweep out the ashes in the morning, ooh Las Vegas, that’s all it took and their version of Love Hurts are all classics!
When I was about 19 yrs old, I saw her perform at a music festival. I wish I would have known at the time how special that moment was and I would have relished it more. But I had yet to learn all I had to know about great music, so . . . 🤷♀️. Oh and did y'all know that Miss Emmylou did some albums with Dolly Parton and Linda Ronstadt? I mean, if you think their voices are great separately, you should hear them together. 😃
This is Emmylou on the lighter side. Haven't heard this song in quite awhile. I have seen several Emmylou Harris songs reacted to before. However, no one seems to have reacted yet at all to "Beneath Still Waters" as far as I can tell. This was a Number 1 single in both the US and Canada in 1980. It is arguably one of the greatest Country Music Heartbreak songs ever recorded in my opinion. I mean Hauntingly beautiful, yet terribly sad. There aren't really allot of lyrics in the song, but those that are there, are just so impactful. They pack a punch. I swear if you have not heard that song before, it will leave you breathless.
This kind of melody draws us into a beat that we wish would never stop. This is where we say that music is a gift from God. How can Nature design such notes? It must be coming from someone up above. A great designer. Yet so simple. Yet so intoxicating.
She did some experimental stuff with the Daniel Lanois-produced Wrecking Ball. But, standard issue Emmylou is wonderful and there are so many songs you could do. She’s one of the best selectors of songs.
You already heard the original Chuck Berry version of this in the movie "Pulp Fiction", but it's always great to hear different artist's versions of the same songs, especially when it comes to Emmylou Harris.
Chuck Berry song from 1964 it has that Louisiana Cajun sound with country rock. You have Ronnie Crowell on guitar and backing vocals and Albert Lee. So not about the rock, but done in that Louisiana Cajun style. Emmy Lou’s band was called the Hot Band.
Emmylou does some rocking material as well. She's got a ton of attitude! If you liked this, check out "Even Cowgirls Get the Blues" & "One More Bottle of Wine". Seriously. What are you doing still reading this?
Check out her song Born To Run, great up tempo tune, and for a real treat listen to her, Dolly and Linda Ronstadt together. They did two or three albums under the group name Trio. Mister Sandman by them will absolutely blow you away!!! And if you want to hear pedal steel rocking out, check out Dire Straits live 1992 from Rotterdam, Netherlands on their On Every Street tour, the song Walk Of Life with a sick pedal steel solo by Paul Franklin, the greatest pedal steel player EVER, by far.
You guys should react to Bruce Springsteen version of this song, live, by improv. Watch that and you'll understand why he is call "the Boss". Soooo fun to watch!
One reason I have stuck with your channel is because of your reacting to some classic rock. Another thing I love about you guys are your smiles (Especially Amber's. )
Albert Lee, the guitarist on Emmy-Lou's left, was in a band in the early 70's called 'Heads Hands and Feet', & although they weren't as commercially successful as they deserved to be, they were a great fan favourite, & every member was a virtuoso, Albert Lee on lead & slide guitar, & vocals, Chas Hodges on bass, fiddle, keyboards, & vocals, Tony Colton, on piano & vocals, Pete Gavin, killing it on drums, & Ray Smith, guitar & vocals!! Check out anything from this band, it's all gold, although I highly recommend 'Warming up the band', 'Country Boy', & 'Song for Susie'

Emmylou - what a great vocalist - There is a reason Dolly cut an album with Emmylou & Linda !!! I still listen to her after all the years!!!! Her 'Boulder to Birmingham" a song about her loss of her man - will leave you in TEARS!!!!! I love that song - also her "Two More Bottles of Wine" - or Quarter Moon In a Ten Cent Town" another tearjerker but kick ass song!!!! - This one is a Chuck Berry cover!!!!!
Emmylou Harris is one of the top 3 artists I've seen live (Prince - Lovesexy Tour and Linda Ronstadt Canciones de Mi Padre tour take the leads). If you like Emmylou you might check out Nanci Griffith, specifically "Love At The Five and Dime", "Once In a Very Blue Moon", or "From A Distance" all being some of her more notable songs. "Listen to the Radio" also.

Thank you. Thank you. Thank you. I've been begging for this. That's Rodney Crowell on her right. One of my favorite entertainers and songwriters. Next Emmylou song to try should be Two More Bottles of Wine. It rocks, too.
Emmylou was beautiful in the 60’s, 70’s, 80’s, 90’s, 00’s, 10’s and today.
Was and is
"Two More Bottles of Wine" is another upbeat Emmylou song.
Yes. Probably my favorite Emmylou song ever.
There’s lots of em…Amarillo, ooh Las Vegas and one of my favorites, Sister’s Coming Home

It’s all Emmylou. I don’t think of it as a different side.
Albert Lee on guitar is just *chef's kiss*
Plus Rodney Crowell on rhythm guitar and harmonies.
The Hot Band!
Not to mention Rodney Crowell

A classic Cajun song. ❤❤❤❤
A rock and roll song, with a Cajun feel, written and originally recorded by the great Chuck Berry!

Some of Emmylou's signature songs... Love Hurts (with Gram Parsons), Boulder To Birmingham, Born To Run, Two More Bottles of Wine, Red Dirt Girl
She was a great singing partner of the late Gramm Parsons
J/A need to hear their heartbreaking rendition of Love Hurts. Perfect duet!
J/A, check out the Chuck Berry original !!!! He wrote it.
