This is the best lesson I have found about this intricate groove on RUclips. Not sure, if I can ever play this as a beginner, but I will do my best and start practicing ...
You know it’s amazing we have tools like RUclips to learn stuff as musicians the possibilities are endless now. I have played guitar and piano for 20 years and just started drumming about five years ago. I think it all depends on the passion and how much do you really want to be great.

Have you thought about the idea the 1 is really the two kick drums. “1 e” The bass and guitar both play pickups to 1 as “e and a 1e” When you hear the vocal come in. The way I’m hearing it, that puts the vocal entrance on 1.
This is a great explanation! I never would've thought to learn this in 4 first, but it helped a lot! I don't mean to criticize, but are you playing a snare hit on beat 3 at 6:30? Just attempting to play along with you, and can't tell if I'm miscounting or not. Anyway, thanks for the video!

Can you play a measure of 4/4 and add one hi-hat to the ending?
Think | 1 + 2 + 3 + 4 + 5 | | 1 + 2 + 3 + 4 + 5 |
This can be a good starting point.
