I recently began to replace my aging Eosone RSA 100s with the Q Acoustics 3020i and 3090ci. Last night I ordered the 3030i’s to round out my 5.1 sound. Admittedly, I was torn between the Q Acoustic offerings and the Elacs, Triangle Br03’s, and Focal Aria 906s with size and aesthetics both factoring in. Most understand we get what we pay for and bigger is, all too often, better. It would be nice to hear how the 3030i’s directly compare to others in its price range and if it punches above its weight class and stands up well against speakers like the Elac Debut DBR62’s which you said might be your reference budget speaker for 2020. Those comparisons are of great help to folks like me. Thanks for all you do!
I am very happy with my 3050 pair. Amazing sound. Very clean, full and warm. Also very detailed. Solid build and intemporal design. Highly recommended.
Thank´s for this fantastic review and personal appreciation. I´ve a pair of 3030i since 4 years with a SVS SB-1000 Sub paired with my Yamaha A-S501 integrated amplifier, and always though that was a nice set up for a entry level in HiFi system. I really enjoyed them during all this time. Recently I decided to go up in my system level and now I have a Musical Fidelity M6SI integrated amplifier, an Eversolo DMP-A6 streamer/DAC and a Cambridge CXC V2 CD player, but I'm not change yet the 3030i speakers. Well, those little bombs has change dramaticaly to a even better and better soundstage, clarity, deepness and a instruements separation with a sound quality that I´ve never expect, and are the same 3030i, but with a higer level amplifier and other higer level devices of my system is incredible his sound. I know that there are better speakers for another level system where is my case now but you really feels that no more is needed with those 3030i. They´re really Awesome.
A must watch channel for audiophiles, I worked with Steve many years ago in NYC (Ana Caram Amazonia 199) Steve was and still is a very easy going guy with a great pair of ears, glad your channel is doing well brother.
I have the Q Acoustics Concept 20 and they're the first speakers where I feel I'm listening to the MUSIC, not the speakers (admittedly I didn't have many so far but I got the pair for under 300). Great value for money and gorgeous design.
Hello Steve, Love your videos and your old school vibe. Your voice is easy to listen to for hours. True passion and enthusiasm for audio. Im Romania you can get QA 3030i for 330 usd and 3050i for 450 usd. Kef q350 for 360 usd and ls50 for... 630 - 720 usd. Great prices in Ro for hi-fi right now. All the best!
Thanks for the review Steve! Very details and incisive. Your review has been a tremendous help in my choice between the 3030's and 3050's. Also, love hearing your passion for music of all genres and as I watched your review; I found myself searching for the albums you mentioned. Once again, thanks heaps.
Ordered the Denon PMA 600 amp and these speakers with the stands yesterday and been hoping I'd made the right choice? Came across your review today and can't wait for them to arrive! Cheers Steve 👍
Hi Jal, I'm also interested in this combination. How did It work in your experience? The PMA Is told to be warm/muscular, is this speaker "worsening" or complementing these characteristics? Thanks
I put the LS 50s on to impress my friends for an hour or so but when I want to listen to music for long periods that's what I bring my Q acoustics 3020is out... maybe it's because they have a lovely warm sound that I'm able to listen to them for 12 hours straight something the KEF speakers can only wish for.
Thanks for remembering the impecunious audiophiles, Steve! Yes, the Koyaanisqatsi OST is great for sorting the audio sheep from the stereo goats. The bass vocalist was Albert de Ruyter, by the way.
Your page is a gold mine to those of us who live in states where audio gear is difficult-to-impossible to find (like SD). Which means that almost everything we'll buy we're not able to audition first. Currently considering the Rega Io or Vista Spark, and either Q Acoustics 3050i or Wharfedale EVO 4.2s, possibly Quad S2. I'd love to Dayens Menuetto, but it might be a budget buster. Thanks again for all your great work. I've been a fan for decades.
The Denon/3030 package is the exact system on my radar for my first “proper” stereo. So glad you consider this a favorable pairing. Lately, I feel like I’ve been spending more time researching audio gear than I have been listening to music. Your review just gave me the confidence to pull the trigger and get back to listening to music.
In addition to the gear, I really appreciate the heads up on so many artist’s work, thanks. Thumbs up!!! Again. Aural Paintings isn't on Qubuz! But hey.
Wonderfully descriptive review Steve. Just hooked up a new pair of Triangle BR03's today and have been a little underwhelmed so far, although they still need to break-in. Moving from KEF Q300's, driven my Marantz amp playing mostly vinyl on a Rega deck. Might check out these 3030i's to compare. Thanks!
Thanks for the review, I'm looking forward to getting my 3030i's this monday 🙂 I've always been a fan of english hi-fi systems (the best in the world), have been enjoying my Heybrooks with the marvelous Heybrook mosfet end-amplifier C2 (?) ... but this was in the cellar far too long....
Q Acoustics seem to make very well priced speakers, a RUclipsr called Techmoan did a 4 part video series a while back where he put together a nice budget hifi system, and the 2020i's ($99!) were the only new component because they were such good value.
I'm using 3010i for Atmos height but I'm able to listen to them in stereo with all channel surround (so basically they are left and right) other speakers off. Nice sound. Could have gone for 3020i but probably not required for the use.
Great review Steve..I was really surprised and very happy with Q products... both my current 3050's and the 3020's before... but needed the additional bass. They are great value whatever size and if you bring them 3ft out they breath and sing.
I badly wanted the 330i but due to lack of room I ended up with the 320 i 's & still have my 3010i stored away but purely because my space is very minimal. I love the style as most others look ugly & they sound amazing in my small living room. My source is the rega planar 3 & marantz pm6006 & marantz cd6007 as I possess a large flac file collection. I just wish I had more space.
I was hesitating for days which speakers I should choose but with A Tribe Called Quest's "Low End Theory" you convinced me to get the QA 3030i ;) I love the way you say things.
Shout out to steve using an album I love for the demo. Just ordered the 3020 (non i) which currently going for just 120 pounds! My first pair of hifi speakers. I needed something a bit smaller so they seemed the best for my case.
SteveMo, it's always appreciated when you mention the listening material you use for your reviews. That said, do you currently employ "litmus test" tracks for loudspeaker assessment? I'm somewhat adept at measurement. But it's helpful to use a small set of sample material for quick comparisons. Pink noise for quick center image capability. Overall bass power/compression, mid-bass power/punch test tracks. Gospel female voice w/sustain for raw midband power capabilities. It's hard to get a handle on dynamic capabilities and freedom from compression from most measurements from mfrs., or third party reviewers. One can become so accustomed to 3 or 4 tracks, or segments of those tracks, you can easily delineate loudspeaker attributes. Downside ... it's not nearly as fun as kicking back and experiencing a wide range of material. Thanks always for being there for us, you and your wife please stay safe. All the best, Kevin

I own a pair of Harbeth P3ESR. Also had the LS50 and, just for fun the 3020i. I allways wonder why the Harbeth cost 10times the Q's !?! (well you hear when you compare) Not i am a little bit afraid not to own the pricebreakers 3030i 😄 Thank you, you are alleays helpfull. By the way. Q Acoustics are british, made in china and developed in germany. Hello world.
both the speakers you mention are quite old now, wharfedales are good for a main listening room if you have the grunt from your amp 50w plus is needed. i have a couple of sets in storage 9.1 and some 9.5 floorstanders, they are very nice sounding speakers but their bookshelves are quite inefficient and tend to have quite bright treble if your system is flavored that way. i also have some q acoustic 3020is which are for the money very well rounded in every way and work great off a 50w denon amp and my pc/dac near field setup, i'd go q acoustics far less picky about partnering gear.
Listen up folks, its all about electronics/speaker matching to everyones individual taste. These videos are fantastic for informing enthusiasts/audiophiles about the gear that all the viewers are interested in purchasing. Thanks Steve for your all your passion and happy listening!
I auditioned Q acoustics 3030i and compare them to my concept 20 and just a personal point the concept 20 are just more rich and more detailed, and the gloss finishing also makes them look more modern,I also have the 3010i in my surround sound system, so. I can compare as a movie or music system and while I do like the 3030i I find them still not as polished as concept 20s which are a lot older..... looking forward to your response, by the way great video though
Can someone tell me for the most of time listening classical music, between Elac uni-fi 2.0 UB52 and Q Acoustics 3030i, which one is better one? Thanks
Hah.. i really thought you would be a hip hop dude, thanks for the clarification on that 😀. I don’t know how I ended up here but I’m glad it did, I really found your way of reviewing really nice. Thanks man
I use my old mini stereo receiver that is 15w x 2 on 8ohm, and my 3030i’s sound great. You don’t need a lot of power to drive these speakers at normal listening levels in a medium sized room at a near field 4-5 feet listening distance.
What you cutting your subwoofers in and are you rolling the speakers off. What distance where you placing them from the wall. don't think they would work good in a medium to big space as you said near-field that would be fine even in a biggish space
Can I drive these with a Cambridge Audio AXA35? I'm not a loud listener but I do like a reasonable amount of bass. Not house shaking just good full bass.
I used to own a pair of 3050I’s. They were on a number of levels, nothing short of impressive. I’m currently seriously upgrading my system. As part of that journey, I auditioned the Concept 500’s, it appeared to me to be the natural progression. How wrong was I? I was extremely disappointed! They sounded ‘flat’ and ‘lifeless’. Shame, all the reviews I read and watched were glowing. I’m still looking?
D Chron I used my current amp the Rega Elicit. I also tried the Rega Aethos and Rega Osiris, at another store, I tried the ATC and a Rotel! As source equipment I used my Roksan Caspian CD player and the stores Rega Isis. I also used my Oppo dac with my iPad Pro! Why? Other speakers I listened to were the ATC SCM40’s, B&W 702 I think, and Kef R11. I’m still looking!
After 20 years into hifi i understood that most HiEnd speakers,is all about design and quality. Not Sound.I think sometimes to buy q3050i. Now i have q3030i with Yamaha A-S 501 (2x85w 8 ohm), but i listen to them at 4 meters away (13ft).Sometimes i think maybe 3050i are better for my room. But iam not sure.If i buy them the side walls will be about 40-60 cm and rear wall about 35-40 cm.The room is narrow and long. Why you want to sell them?? Iam VERY happy with q3030i (but the hearing distance is away). For music is perfect distance but for movies i think sometimes is away. Not all the times. For example SONY pictures has TERRIFIC sound.
Having 50 years of audio-experience I must say - this is a brilliant example how the expert can present good product IN ITS CLASS as taken straight from paradise. I am not sure, is he really enjoy 'lively presentation from near field'. Who drives these pair of speakers from system worth dozens of thousand $? It is a good seller speech for beginners. Stay calm and close your mouth.
Great review. What speaker would you recommend for computer mainly for music, movies, and games? Is Presonus Eris 4.5 good? Or something else is even better? Price $300-$500 and I don’t mind if I have to use an amp.
Hey Steve great review here! I'm gathering some professional reviews on this particular speaker. This was a very detailed and well explained real opinion . Well done and thank you.
hi, been following for a while and listening to beautiful content. thanks a lot! i’m putting together a starter system and decided on an a11 tribute. i’m unsure which speakers to connect to it. would you recommend q3030 or elac debut 2.0 b6.2? thanks in advance if you have a chance to reply..
I love the look of the sample Q 3030i unit you reviewed with the gold tinted outer rings contrasting with the white speaker but the Q acoustics website only show the chrome accents. Do you know if its possible to purchase the exact same speaker color combination. This speaker would fit the decor of my small listening area perfectly and if it sounds as good as you say I would be a happy camper as well. You had me at Tribe Called Quest and Miles Davis mentioned in the same review
I have an old carver 1090 that I bought many year ago, I am Thinking about paring this amp with the q acoustics 3030i. The thing is that this Carver is rated 100w at 8ohms. Any thoughts?
Does anyone know whether there has been a comparison video between the Q3030i and Elac B6.2? I am unsure whether the Q3030i is an upgrade from the B6.2s. The B6.2s are big.
I heard the Q Acoustics 3050i tower version it was very clean and open sounding but the bass was uncontrollable to me and that annoyed me cause I could not focus on the music itself. I believe the 3030i would be a better fit.
I bought these speakers and paired with an emotiva TA-100 along with a fluance rt-85... nice bass great combo, also bought klipsch rp 600m switch back and forth depending on musci
Steve - I would always want to know what you think about any gear that you're reviewing as that gear sounds in your reference system - nice to know the 3030i's held their ground particularly considering their very low price - the price differential really doesn't matter to me, definitely no complaints from me on that idea - - and of course, like you generally do, I also want to know about that same gear more or less matched up to a price comparable system - - carry on and thanks for the interesting and entertaining vids especially during our "shelter in place" requirements.
Nice review. Looking to get a bookshelf speaker. I went to a DCM by mxt tower and they are big and loud. I need a smaller speaker for a small room. That will not go on a stand, but in a bookshelf.
Steve, always love your work. One request, ever think about linking or listing the music mentioned in the review or tracks you thought played well on equipment? Thanks!
Thanks for the review Steve! I'm about to build a set for my living room and I'm considering to buy 3030i's to pair with probably a Sony STR-DH590 or 790 A/V receiver, but also wondering about if I should choose the Klipsch Active RP-41PM's and add an active subwoofer later. I listen to both classical, pop and rock music and love both bass and clarity, also I love hi-tech features like bluetooth, wireless etc but don't want to choose something would sound not as good while looking hi-tech or fancy. Which setup of these would sound better? Thanks for your help in advance.
One thing makes me doubt my choice of the Elac Reference b62, that's you saying the 3030i is a faster more energetic speaker. I listen to almost every genre, would you say the 3030i is much better for electronic/techno and even faster genres than the Elac Reference or would the Elac reference be a good choice for those genres as well. You don't strike me as the type that likes to listen to techno, but would like to know your opinion anyway. I'm looking for the best allround budget speaker.
Silverweed, only you can answer your question. Buy both speakers and listen to each speaker with your music and with your gear in your personal listening room. Take your time with this audition process. But just make sure to note their respective return policies. It's worth the time and effort. Good luck!
Hi very interesting and valuable review as always. Thanks a lot. About nearfield listening i have noticed that in a non-treated home environment it helps a lot with soundstage. I guess that room reflections are very devastating for soundstage. My impression is that many recording engineers actually listen very close to their monitors ? Kind regards, gino
Nice review. I am just wondering, have you ever review any electrostats speakers? such as martin logan. I do not remember if you ever these kind of speakers.

Please review the Q Acoustics 3020i if possible!
Really enjoyed this one Steve cheers
Howard, what electronics did you use with the Concept 500?
Hello sir, what do you thing about these compared to Triangle BR03? Thank you
Forgot to mention I'm in the process of demoing the polk ES20 and was seriously considering the Q's .
What would be better for 2 channel stereo , Q accoustic 3030i , Polk ES20 , Airmotiv B1 ?
Gotta love The Tribe. Lyrics and rhymes as slick and smooth as almond butter!
It's not the first time I've heard someone whose opinions I respect solidly recommend Low End Theory; I'm going to have to check it out.
Have the 3020is love them, going to get these soon, more oomph by all accounts.
Hi, which speaker is better in close field listening in your opinion between evo 4.2 and 3030i?
Hi Steve,
What do you about this 3030i compared to the Elac Debut Reference? Thanks for your reviews
hi, been following for a while and listening to beautiful content. thanks a lot!
i’m putting together a starter system and decided on an a11 tribute. i’m unsure which speakers to connect to it. would you recommend q3030 or elac debut 2.0 b6.2? thanks in advance if you have a chance to reply..
Elac debiut reference Dbr6 you can listen for a long time - it does not tire. is it similar with q aqustic 3030i?
I am really torn right now. Do I go with the 3030i with stands for $609.00 or do I go with the 3050 floor speaker for $75 more?
Great review Steve 👍
Would they be good as in home recording studio monitors?
Yes!
Steve, which Nordost cables are you using?
The woofer frames are stamped metal as compared to cast mold. Is there really a difference in quality/sound?????
Hey Steve, how do you reckon these speakers would pair with the NAD C 316BEE V2 Stereo Integrated Amplifier?
I heard the Q Acoustics 3050i tower version it was very clean and open sounding but the bass was uncontrollable to me and that annoyed me cause I could not focus on the music itself. I believe the 3030i would be a better fit.
Maybe running full range when should be crossed over?
I bought these speakers and paired with an emotiva TA-100 along with a fluance rt-85... nice bass great combo, also bought klipsch rp 600m switch back and forth depending on musci
Do you need a sub with the 3030i’s?
@@mden2490 its rear ported with a sponge to put in the port... I dont need a sub but I am not a basshead
@@jamesmcmillan6350 I am not either, thank you
Great Video Mr Steve! I Learnt Heaps 💡🧠!
Q Acoustics Is Fre🤪aking Awesome!
Cheers From New Zealand 🇳🇿
Sounds like a WINNER possibility for 'Best Speaker of the Year' ---- we'll see?
How do the 3030i's compare to the Adam Audio F5 as desktop monitors ?
What did you finally end up going with?
Amazing content! I have the choice of buying either Q Acoustics 3010i for 170 aud. Or B&W 201i for 130 aud. Both bookshelf. Thoughts?
Thanks!
Great review 👍
I've a set of 2050i floor sanders.. What's your opinion.. I use marantz to power them.
they have a gritty sound?
Nice review. I am just wondering, have you ever review any electrostats speakers? such as martin logan. I do not remember if you ever these kind of speakers.
I'll definitely look into these when I replace my old desktop speakers. Thanks!
I know your into high end stuff but will a 140 watt $300 Denon receiver drive these effectively?
Just got the receiver and it does nicely
