A simple, yet effective comment 👏
True as hell!!
Cute... real cute
It was disposable
This whole "villains make an interesting point then they're defeated without ever really disproving it" trend is, to say the least, worrying
Zaruian I feel like part of the intent with this trend is that villains are rarely as cut and dry, or easy to spot out in the real world. I think films could be clearer on their conclusions, for what the heroes learned from the villains and what society learned from it as well. Like here, the villain may be right about society being overly reliant on heroes, so you could see more integrated social services with heroes like the ice guy working with firefighters directly, (that’s like how “my hero academia” works out) or more intensive regulations on when heroes can work, rules for property damage, and other things (that’s like “one punch man”) And the main problem with the villain is not the point they make, but their approach and/or end goals.
The point “society is overly reliant on heroes to solve their problems”
The approach “make society hate heroes again, and make heroes and their families be punished for it”
The goals/end result “No more heroes, heroes are subjugated in some way, or break out from accepting their subjugation and viewed as villains for doing so”
The trend is not worrying at all imo. It’s life’s problems on easy mode.
@@casualcommenter9730 the problem with this trend is the lack of exploring everything you just said. essentially, the heroes just punch the problem in the face without anybody really learning anything from it on-screen or reching any conclusions about the point the villain was trying to make, as if saying "they're kinda right...", without ever going onto the complexity of these issues or how the villain's incorrect approach was more of a problem.
@@OpXarxa Well, if you watched Black Panther, you can see that T'challa took a great lesson from Killmonger and changed everything because of him. He couldn't accept the way Killmonger was doing things, so he stopped him, but he was willing to save his life and give him a second chance because he understood the cause and agreed to it.
@@narielanwamane and that's one of the sadly very, very few exceptions to this trend.

"After 15 minutes of erasing that progress" yeah that was this movie's weakness. It was fun and enjoyable, but it could have been better had they not erased the progress the family did in the first movie
Eventually, if it was to rebuild something else on a other theme, but here, it's only for artificially restart the path of the characters and make them follow the same journey than the first movie. lazy and boring.

The one thing that I wanted the Parr family to do in the movie was take down the Underminer together. They stopped that boat, sure, but defeating the enemy that smeared their reputations all over again? That would have been a truly satisfying bookend.

The Fantastic 4 movie we all wanted, but never got.

Black Ninja Np, Marvel (Disney) is taking over, so you bet we’re getting that movie.
@Black Ninja To say they're NOTHING like the Fantastic 4 is a stretch.
Mr. Fantastic+Elastigirl=Stretchy
Thing+Mr. Incredible=Super Strength
Invisible Woman+Violet=Invisibility AND force fields
Human Torch+Jack Jack=Combustible
Dash and Jack Jack having other powers, along with Bob not being monstrous, are the main outliers. The F4 also function similarly as a family unit. It's not a carbon copy, but they clearly took some heavy inspiration.
Incredibles 2 = The Fantastic 5½

IT WAS THE EXACT SAME AS THE FIRST ONE HOW IS THAT A WORTHY SEQUEL
@@Chaox56 it was not the exact same. There were a couple familiar story beats but it's a superhero movie. It doesn't need the same sort of depth as other series might warrant
@@joshuab3918 it was the exact same except in the way that it had all the stakes removed from it. there is not threat of danger its a saturday morning cartoon. the original one had actual stakes to the characters actions and life threatening moments.
Honestly, so many of my friends told me how amazing this movie was and how it was the perfect sequel and that its even better then the first one made me so hyped and excited to see it. I had my expectations so high and i was so happy when i rented since i loved the first movie so much, i was thinking about how amazing and so much better it would be.......but once the movie ended i was left.......not as satisfied as i thought. I mean yeah i guess it was ok and it wasnt bad but i just dont understand why people overeacted about it. Yes jack jack was adorable but apart from that i just didnt see the greatness of it. To me the first one is still better
Ikr. The first was still the best. The second was still good, but because my expectations were high, it left me unsatisfied. The villain was predictable because of the first one. The only thing that really made me happy about the movie was seeing jack-jack's powers
Ik I was like that at first when it came out even at 16 but after 2 years and rewatching both recently, The Incredibles is still better than Incredibles 2 by a long shot. I still enjoy watching Incredibles 2 but the original is still relevant and fresh compared to its sequel. I honestly feel like Pixar really missed a chance to take the superhero genre further with the sequel especially considering Brad Bird's repertoire with animated films (Ratatouille and The Iron Giant) and like you flor after rewatching both I left Incredibles 2 wanting more and feeling a little dissatisfied especially with how amazing The Incredibles was. Idk I still enjoy Incredibles 2 but it had a lot of potential to be even better. It's average compared to the masterpiece of the original.
I felt exactly the same way!
And I love the first movie sooooo much because of how progressive it was at the time. This sequel 14 years later, when we have so many super heroes movies a year, did nothing to bring something new to the genre.
While we all may not have liked the movie we can all agree on one thing: We'd all smash Elastigirl.

Yeah she did
Let's not forget Mr. Incredible became Mr. Incapable. He failed to capture the underminer, he only embarrassed himself on the opening action scene, didn't do anything as a super hero for most of the movie, unlike Elastigirl who actually did a lot in the first one. He got captured 0.3 seconds after finally suiting up. He was the only one to need help while fighting the hypnotized heroes... Dude got nerfed af
Because he's a straight white male, and we all know why straight white males can't be heroes in 2018 or be a least bit useful in multimedia

That short was freaky beyond belief. I get what they were trying to do with the premise, but it was executed strangely.
@@jacobmartin7481
It was basically the mom picturing her son as a delicate, little dumpling that she had to protect regularly. Eventually, the mother's over-protection made them grow apart as the son chose to have a life of his own. Eating the Dumpling was representing losing connection with her son, before they reconnected.
@@welcometothemetaverse2523 I get what they were trying to symbolize; I just think it would have been better executed with just the mother and her son. Yeah. Still a lot of fun. But you gotta respect the classics. 1 all the way.
The narrative felt a little less focused but was still a solid movie.
I liked this movie, but the villainess' reasoning was so dumb. "I'm going to get revenge on all superheroes b/c they weren't there when my father needed them the most and caused his death!" even though it wasn't their choice, since governing bodies banned superheroes.
But her point was that they should be banned because people rely on them too much like her father did.
Jim B. That's not her motive, it's because people relied on heroes to save them instead of trying to save themselves because they did have a panic room but he never went because he thought someone else would save him

See the Pixar sequel that everybody asked for, but nobody wants to admit that they liked because sequels are not supposed to be as good as the original. (the) Incredibles 2 : even the serious parts turn out to be funny when you really stop and think about them.
I loved it tbh. Thought it was pretty realistic. People aren't going to love superheroes instantly just because they do one good thing, and while watching Incredibles 2, it made sense to me the way everything unfolded
I loved it more than the first.
It wasn’t good dude
I wanted to love it, didn't expect _too_ much but was very positive about it.
And I actually hated it. This was such a bland mishmash of everything and absolutely nothing.
There was no theme, no feel to this. In the end it was like watching a collection of professional soulless commercial shorts of varying quality.
It tried to dabble in too much and didn't actually deliver anything.
Action was mostly irrelevant and completely predictable filler, at no point were there any stakes or overarching battle against anyone. Even kids being left alone against all villains, the feeling of being helpless and overcoming impossible odds - such a classic premise, so many ways to use it - and they immediately destroyed it with some kind of Benny Hill routine on the ship.
Other superheroes were mostly just one trick ponies, it's fine for a background character, but why some of them were so overused to the extreme?? Why was there such an emphasis on each one of those empty blank slates? the barfing guy for example. He never actually mattered, didn't have any personality, but was used a LOT for some unfathomable reason, doing exactly the same useless move each time.
Underlying themes were either completely subverted (anti-screen message is somehow... evil???), or just plain weird, unfinished, baffling and in the end - absolutely pointless and irrelevant.. The whole feminism angle and dialogues between Elastigirl and the villain about women that didn't go anywhere and were unaffected by the reveal, the whole parenting bit started great and turned into a huge load of wtf because everything was immediately fixed by a.... magical remote control for the kid. What were you thinking Pixar??? What's the connection to reality in all of this???
Just pointless, most of everything was absolutely shallow, repetitive, unimaginative and pointless. Sturdy 6.5/10 if this was a non-Pixar by the books cartoon made by bean counters who gave the artists the list of "trendy" or "cool" things to do and mention, 3/10 considering this is Pixar.
It's fine to do a fun action flick, great even. But *this* was neither that nor anything more than a cartoon for a 10 year old.
It was like a movie made by the AI to pander to everyone.
Why the kids just didn't take the goggles off everyone on the ship (like how HISHE pointed out), I'll never know.
There is one thing we can all agree. The first movie was better.
991yugioh if you saw the incredibles 2 first than the first one wouldn't be that liked, obviously it wouldn't make that much sense
Sometimes, it doesn't matter which movie is better. If both are enjoyable, then okay.
I really enjoyed both, but the second one borrows way too much from the first one for me to say it was better. The villains motivations thing I could forgive (slightly), but starting them off in pretty much the same situation they were in at the beginning of the first one, switching off which parent does hero duty, and having Violet go through the same arc with the same dude she has a crush on after 14 years was disappointing. I also thought it was weird how they didn't know Jack Jack had powers considering he's an infant who has no control over them. You're telling me he never once showed them in the time span of a few months in between the first and second movie? Not even an accidental sneeze? I don't care if I sound nitpicky. Those are the main issues I had with it.
Say "Excelsior" in honor and memory of Stan Lee.
I just think that after 14 years they should have picked up with jack jack at least being in middle school, and focusing on the world integrated with heroes again.
The villain is a former hero who has become dissatisfied with the glamorous and insincere nature of hero work. He murders those he believes don't live up to the ideals of a true hero who helps those in need solely because it is the right thing to do.
@@classarank7youtubeherokeyb63 that would have made for a good story
@Class A, Rank 7; RUclips Hero: Keyboard Warrior Isn't that pretty much "My Hero Academia"?
New movie comes out 14 years after the last one but picks up 14 seconds after it!
@@ecliptorcalrissian5014 that's what disappointed me.
Please say "I'm consciously considering to cultivate conscientiousness"
