So fantasy booking time:
End of November, Orton calls out Cena. They have a shoot talk about their careers and how they have been with each other since OVW. Orton then brings up Nov. 14, 2005. Their first tv match. Orton then says he wants one more match. But not any match. He wants Cena's last match. And he wants it on Nov. 25, 2025. A 20 year feud finally ending. Cena agrees and then Orton announces that it will also be his last match.
For the next year, they stay apart. Put one on Smackdown, the other on Raw. Give them great last year runs, but always remind people that it is their last year. Even have them keeping track of what each other are doing. But they dont touch or interfere with each others runs.
Nov 25, 2025 is a Friday so make the whole show a celebration of both mens careers and then give them an hour. Make it over the top full of tons of run ins (maybe even have a moment where Cena and Orton are fighting off people together)

Show ends with both men embracing and the entire locker room, and backstage out and applauding the guys

Cena Vs Orton was the rivalry of the late 2000s and they never had a 1on1 match at mania
As much as I'd love a Cena/Melo match because Cena is such a good guy to the younger ones, we need the biggest stage and the biggest rival that can mirror Taker/Shawn. And that would be a match against Randy.
I know you're supposed to lose your last match, and Cena has been putting people over a lot lately, but I want him to win his last match. It's Cena, even though I hated "super cena" it's still his legacy and he should go out on top, that said, it should be a guy who can take an L without losing any momentum. I don't have a name though

Position Cena as The Gatekeeper. Handpick 4-6 superstars, stipulate that if you beat Cena, you get a title shot at the next PPV. When the last contender is due to be revealed, with Cena (and ref) already in the ring, facing the titantron, Cena’s own music hits. Cena then does the most devastating move in aaaaaalllllllll entertainment - on himself. Ref just stands there staring at him. Cena gets up, gives the ref an “ah, camaaaaan” look and cheeky smile, ref nods. Cena surprise roll-ups himself again, ref hits the three count. Referee’s decision is final - Cena’s going to Wrestlemanina. Goofy wrestling 4 life.

It should be Orton.. Regardless of whether you like their matches..Orton was his biggest rival and he should be the one to retire him..

I’d have Carmelo Hayes on my list, I feel like I see a lot of early heel Cena in him and I think they could tell a great story with that. I mean Carmelo’s breakout moment was literally referencing the “ruthless aggression!” Promo
If Cena was ever to go heel in his career, he should have done a newer version of the two-man power trip with Orton back in the day.

The whole storyline “my time is now” could make a number of stars as they all converge to be the one to retire Cena - Waller, Bron, Corbin, Miz, Melo you really could pull a number of them in and have it branch into various angles ☝🏽
Then i saw door closing on Cena shirt, i imagined not maybe last match, but Uncle Howdy finishing him. I believe Cena will go for 17th title, but will lose. Turns Heel, says he will not leave and Uncle Howdy makes Cena remember who he is and ends him. Cena says Thank You and Vanishes forever, you cant see him anymore.
Dawg ,Gunther doing it would be a great way to move him into the main event. I also would want Cody to defend against Cena before he’s done but that’s feeling unlikely rn
I completely agree with you here Simon. Gunther is the best choice. We haven’t had a true passing of the torch is quite some time. Gunther was going to get that from Lesnar before all that stuff went down. Cena is the next believable person especially because all that Cena stands for is what Gunther hates so it works
I know the whole traditional passing the torch to the younger guy on the way out but Cena has done more than enough for the younger generation over the last 6 years. I think he should win on his last match and if you wanna have him lose then lose to someone like Randy for good old times
It's a good point but you would still be losing out on a huge opportunity to make a new star. So you get 1 good night for potentially years of a new star. In theory.

John will definitely lose his retirement match, his respect for the business will be him counting the lights to pass on the torch. I think his retirement tour should be Cena reliving his best hits, Punk/Orton/Miz etc with his final match being either Bron or Solo, if it is Bron you are essentially handing him the keys as the face of the company for the next 2 decades or you use it to move Solo back to the top of the card once they he has ultimately lose the Bloodline Civil War with Roman and you are looking to get Solo into the role of the final boss of WWE lets be honest Brock isn't here for much longer at 47. I would love it for Gunther, but I don't think he needs it & he is 37, so compared to Bron/Solo WWE gets an extra 10 years of who ever they want to be the next face of the company
Curveball...Angle comes out of retirement (cena asks him to do so) cenas final match is against the very man who he launched his career against. Both men retire here as it also gives angles final match redemption from the corbin match. Afterwards, angle then inducts cena into HOF at mania 42

Probably not a popular opinion, but I could see either SZ or KO in the role. Cena gave both their introduction matches on the main roster (all were bangers) & both men could bring out a killer retirement match out of him.

I like the Bron one. Give BrOn the inter title, and have Cena's motivation for coming after Bron is that he's tying up loose ends, one of which is never winning the inter title. Bron can dismiss Cena saying that he's got nothing to gain from facing Cena, because if Bron loses he lost to an old man, and if Bron wins he beat an old man, badass vibes. Then it's Cena pursuing Bron but Cena loses at the end.
R-Truth would be funny as hell. Dominick would just bring eevn more heat to the character. Perhaps it should be the Repo Man though..

Alot of people will disagree with me, and that's fine, but I truly believe Karrion Kross deserves a shot in this conversation. Karrion is super good, underrated, and under utilized, and his booking hasn't been great, and he's an excellent talker and story teller when given the opportunity to do so, and I think that giving him a big feud and retiring one of the greatest of all time will help propel Kross as a main event heel for years to come

Id love to see Solo Sikoa retire Cena and you can do a similar build to Shawn Michaels Vs The Undertaker for their second Wrestlemania match Cena could even screw solo out of the WWE championship to force the fight

I think it should be Orton it's really the only thing that makes sense. Do the match with Gunther if he is still world Champion (I don't think he will be I think Seth wins it at the Rumble so we can go through with the Punk/Seth night 1 main even planned for this year) earlier in the last year and go either way they want with that.

Bum ass Corbin was fantastic i would've never turned him heel. It would've been such a feel good moment when he won idk the u.s title or something. I hated happy Corbin. It just was a 180 too quickly. Give him a run with a midcard title and have it be a slow burn but double edged sword some of these stories move too slow
