    for all you guys saying expensive relaxer, you have no idea what you are talking about. Japanese straighteners are way easier on the hair than american standard relaxers. my hair looked very healthy with a Japanese hair straightener. American relaxers destroy the hair. they both straighten the hair but the methods are soooooooo different. I live in japan and my hair grew a lot with it relaxed using the japanese system.

      Is your hair still long? Or has it broken off? Genuinely curious.
      I would love to have permanently straight hair, however the longest I could maintain my hair was armpit length when it was relaxed and I took really good care of it.
      I want LONG hair. I’ve been natural for 3 years and my hair is mid back length… however it shrinks up to armpit length 😖
      I just prefer smoother styles so I mostly wear wigs/weaves.

    I had this process done and I swear I almost never touched a flat iron in years. I never suffered from split ends or damaged hair. My hair looked shiny and straight and overall healthy. At the beginning I did use sulfate-free shampoo but at the end of 2 1/2 years I was using a shampoo my mom got me from Mexico with aloe vera and jalapeno and my hair's end were still straight like a pin even though my new hair growth was almost 5 inches from top and wavy. I think it's worth it specially if you live in humid weather. I prefer this process than the flat iron.

    • @ryo3010
      @ryo3010 8 лет назад +2

      well sometimes they dont let you get it done if you have bleached your hair or something, and you cant dye your hair after you get it but i think you can do some light dying some months or weeks after, dont take my info tho cuz i could be wrong i have only heard this from others X)

  • @anthonyfox585
    @anthonyfox585 6 лет назад +33

    you guys it's not an over priced glorified relaxer it's not as damaging as lye and the bonds are reattached at the end of the process I will say that it is expensive to get it done professionally but you can buy it online for like 20 bucks

    • @Kaylasdaintydesk
      @Kaylasdaintydesk 5 лет назад +3

      The right to be righteous I bought the Japanese Liscio brand on Amazon for about 50$. I am also half black/white wig very curly hair. It thinned my hair a bit but it doesn’t break off as much as with a traditional relaxer. After I did it I waited 1 month and then dyed it black and it didn’t break of any extra. Just be careful to use sulfate free hair products and keep your hair moisturized.

  • @JasmynDestine
    @JasmynDestine  9 лет назад +19

    +Matisse McMahon So if you already have split ends, you are going to want to cut your hair, just a trim would be fine. And then you can get it done, and the process will actually make your hair grow. So don't worry about cutting your hair. And thank you!! Maybe I will make a video!

  • @Matisse2790
    @Matisse2790 9 лет назад +6

    Jasmyn, what happens if I didn't cut off my split ends before I got it done? because my hair is short to begin with. and I'm afraid to cut it. especially since it doesn't grow that much.

    Hi Jasmyn! love the video but just have a question, so I am also mixed (Carribean, and white) and i want to get my hair relaxed. right now its really curly and is not tamed at all so i am looking at this option, however if you don't mind i would just like to know what exactly you'll need to do.
    1. which hair products do you use for home care? (do i need to buy specialized shampoo & conditioner)
    2. Everytime i get my hair wet or wash it do i need to straighten it again? or do i have to get it retouched (like do you know the price)
    3. When your roots grow in do you just straighten the roots again?
    4. Bonus: Do you know if you can go in chlorine water or will that ruin my hair? like did/do you ever go swimming?

    I never understood "the big chop" either. I relaxed my hair most of my life and then I just stopped one day. I never cut anything, just wore my hair straight with a flat iron. After a few months the relaxed parts curled up like normal anyway. I don't get why people cut their hair off.

    Will this treatment work on bleached hair??
    So I bleached my hair ombré style, exactly a year ago and then re-bleached it during summer cause I wanted to go lighter. (2014) Of course I straightened curled and did hot oil treatments on it till now. (I also swim basically every day for school but not this semester because competition is over so we swim 2/5 so yes chlorine stripped my hair) will I be able to do this on my hair?? Its been through a lot and what do you recommend I do?

    • @JasmynDestine
      @JasmynDestine  9 лет назад

      lusciouslocks151 So it sounds like your hair has been through a lot, I wouldn't recommend it only because your hair might be damaged. The process won't make your hair fall out or anything, but you should wait a lil while before you do any more to your hair. Hope that helps, thats just my opinion!

    How did it look straight out of the shower after you had this done? Thinking about doing this and was wondering if it was worth it. Meaning... I don't want to be straightening my hair over and over every other day. Thanks for any help!

    • @JasmynDestine
      @JasmynDestine  9 лет назад +1

      Straight out of the shower you can let it air dry, depending on what kind of hair you have it can appear differently for each person. Someone with soft wavy hair that has this process done doesn't need to necessarily straighten their hair. But someone with thicker kinky or curly hair will have to straighten their new growth for sure after getting out of the shower, also will need to straighten for frizzyness. Again this is only from what I've experienced and heard from other women that have received this treatment, hope it helps!

    I just had this treatment done and my hair is curly but not spring curly but its waaay pass wavy and Its a little longer than yours in this video, I also have ALOT of hair so it took a long while to get this done. Its been 2 days and with blower of keratin it would still kind on get volume of puff a bit but with this treatment i wake up and Its like boomm still straight lol... I was wondering if you kept up the aftercare and also they told me to use a "suero" (spanish word) once a week so as not to dry out, did they tell you to do the same??? btw mine cost 250 and Im from PR and that was also getting the cut fixed and a different style from what I had . I would like to add that your hair looks beautiful and so are you :)

    Also, I have thick afro textured 4c hair. Even with 4c, you shouldnt have to blow dry it for it to be really straight. I can wear my hair straight out the shower and it is the same texture as yaky straight weave hair. Even if you have naturally super curly hair you shouldnt have alot of volume if the process has been done right. You should check out the Hair's Talent youtube channel. Also the milbon youtube channel to make sure your stylist is doing the treatment correctly.

    • @JasmynDestine

    What treatment did you get? Im wondering because I have been getting the milbon liscio treatment for the past 2 years and it always, always must only be applied to soaking wet hair.Even the videos ive watched of it are always on wet hair. Thats the major difference between japanese perm and traditional african american perms. I have never heard of it being applied to blow dried hair before. It seems to me like that would be damaging...

    • @JasmynDestine
      @JasmynDestine  9 лет назад

      It's not damaging only because its not an excessive amount of chemicals the first time it is applied. But overall you are stripping the "curliness" front the strands of your hair, so it is in some way or another damaging.

    • @kireinosukinahito
      @kireinosukinahito 9 лет назад

      Lesia DiPenta Yes I get this treatment done myself. I have liscio. Any treatment is damaging if done incorectly...thats why we get professionals to do it. Mikaela Hampton My personal experience with getting the Japanese hair straightening done, was that I still had to straighten my hair a little bit after first getting it done, but it was very quick. Just to basically, get rid of any volume, but as time went on and my roots grew in and I definitely had to straighten those so it could blend. Hope that helps!

    Have you ever flexi rod your JS hair?

    • @JasmynDestine
      @JasmynDestine  9 лет назад +1

      meur urme No I didn't but I did try and bantu knot it, but the hair was too fine to hold. Even with product in it, the only way my JS hair held curls was when I curled it with a curling wand, or curler.

    My hair is relaxed do you think I could start the Japanese straightening on the roots instead of starting all over? X

    • @JasmynDestine
      @JasmynDestine  9 лет назад

      ShannyBo Yea you can, you should definitely lay off the relaxers for a little while and then you can start the Japanese straightening.

      Did you try it? I’m also curious about transition from relaxer to JHS and don’t want to fully grow it out.

    Just had the Yuko done again and the hair dresser applied it on wet hair where before I had it on dry and it hasn't come out the same its still curly I don't wanna say anything she made me sign a disclaimer i paid 450 and I still have an Afro -.- I don't know what to do and when I had it done on dry hair it looked like yours

      Kami Wilson That sounds like such a bad experience, I'm sorry you had to go through that, maybe try a different place next time. If you live in NY there are a couple of salons you could go to.

    can you still wash your hair and it will be straight or will it be curly all over again

    • @JasmynDestine
      @JasmynDestine  8 лет назад

      +Haley Moore It will be straight, because it is a PERMANENT treatment. No going back, unless you chop all your hair off like I did in my video!

    I got this treatment done to my hair, but I already miss my curly hair. If I keep washing my hair after a certain period of time will it wash out? Or will I have to completely grow out my hair ?

    • @JasmynDestine
      @JasmynDestine  8 лет назад

      +Lily Morgan No you can not keep washing your hair and it will come back, its permanent! No going back to curly hair, the only way is to grow it out.

    Will this cause breakage or falling out of hair? Did you experience any of this?

    • @JasmynDestine
      @JasmynDestine  9 лет назад

      orangetrain123 I didn't have any experience with breakage or falling out of hair. The only time I saw breakage was after I bleached my hair with a blond ombre, and that happened almost 3 years after doing Japanese hair straightening treatment. Hope this helps!

    4 times a year.... is what I do. If you want to transition wear braids. Then you can just trim treated hair each month till its gone.

    my hair started falling after permanent straightening, can u suggest me any thing to reduce my hair fall?

    • @sims__for__life_148
      @sims__for__life_148 7 лет назад

      Payel Mukherjee hi! So, what kind of texture did you have before? Because when you have curly hair, the hair that normally falls out gets caught. So when you have straight hair it shows more.

    • @PayelMukherjeeMumpiee
      @PayelMukherjeeMumpiee 7 лет назад

      sims__for__life_ my hair texture is really curly like frizzy and it was a big mess..but after rebonding my hair started falling and it's been a month..😞

    • @Ck-jp3sr
      @Ck-jp3sr 7 лет назад

      Payel Mukherjee my hair is like this too but it's because of my diet. My doctor prescribed some pills for me to take for my hair and it makes my hair super strong. & I deep condition it every week.
