I was scared to get it done, because of the lack of info. After watching your videos and seeing that we have the same hair type, I got it done and I love it. Thanks for all the info !
I used to watch your Japanese straightening videos many months before I got the perm, so glad to see that you have added more on the topic 🥰 they're really helpful! I started with a Gina curl type look the first time I put it in, and then made it straight a few months ago (which was dangerous but I've been doing alot of olaplex treatments, and my hair seems to be in better shape than when I was natural). Even though the touchups aren't applied to the already processed hair, have you noticed that your hair gets straighter each session? ( I'm Asking because mine is 90% straight and I'm wondering if it'll get straighter when I do my next touch up.)
:) I'm so glad I could help! Oh you overlapped the straight perm to your hair to get it straighter? I'm glad your hair has been improving from that! But no, I haven't straighter results as I do touch-ups. They got my hair super straight the first time and maintain it with each session.
I wish you could show pictures of your Gina like curls type that you got with the treatment? I was thinking of just getting waves or very loose curls with it.
Thank you so much for putting this up. Now I know 100% that I want to get this done. I feel what you’re saying about the maintenance and having to deal with wash day on natural hair. I had to stop getting relaxers some years back because I would get server headaches. I wish I would have known about JSP years ago
I'm really glad it was useful for you! I'm so happy I could help :D I was definitely over the 3+ hour was days lol who has the energy for that? Oh wow! I've never heard of anyone getting head aches from relaxers, that's horrible!
Lol I lowkey want to go natural after Japanese Hair Straightening too 🤣 I miss seeing my Afro a little bit. I’m currently 1 year post so I don’t know if I want to get a touch up or maybe transition
First off I love ur japanese hair straightening videos as i'm planning to get it done! I had big chopped so I'm currently growing it out. I was wondering what is the minimum hair length to be able to do JHS?
:') thank you so much! Congrats on your big chop! As far as I know there isn't a minimum length, but it may be a good idea to wait until the stylist can style your hair in a way you're happy with, maybe a year would be a good length to wait.
First off, your new intro is so cute!! And I was wondering could you tell us where you go to get your hair done for the perm? Or maybe recommend a stylist that knows a good amount about how to do the perm? I wanna get it done, but it's been difficult looking for someone who knows how to do it, lol.
:') ah! Thank you so much! Yes! I get mine done at HK Hair and Beauty in Milpitas, CA. They're great with my hair! It is a challenge looking for a stylist that's certified to do the perm :|
Thank you for the update. I was planning to go to the same salon that you go to because I live in the bay area too but I want to cover my grey hair and I don't know if the Japanese hair straightener will work for me. I love the price of the salon. I wonder if I could use henna instead? Thanks again! Back to researching.
I have a question. The chemical that you put in your hair. The one that smells bad. Some video I remember I was watching I remember some one saying that every time she washed her hair she could smell the chemical but after it dried it smells like her shampoo is there any truth to this? And if so does the smell lessen after each wash.
hi! i’m not her obv but i did get the straight perm done about 6 months ago at the same salon she did! i don’t smell the chemical at all, i haven’t since the first time i washed my hair after the treatment. hope this helps :)
Personally, I didn't experience that at all. :O maybe it was the brand she used or something. I used the Liscio brand. After the final wash and blow dry at the salon I never experienced any stench.
Hi! A year and 2 months ago I self textured my hair with the Just For Me kids texture softener no-lye system, I live in CA and i’m planning on going to the same salon you went to for a straight hair perm. But i’m wondering if my hair will be okay and not fall off. Also thank you so much for this informative video!
Hi! You should definitely let them know that you have a mild relaxer in your before going. They may know how to transition you to JSP by only doing your new growth, or they may advise you to big chop before coming. You can't mix thioglycolate with calcium-, lithium- or sodium-hydroxide, unfortunately, it can melt your hair off. You're very welcome! I'm glad I could help! :D
@@hunxue7778 hi I have little girl with curly dry hair I wanna straighten her hair to be manageable first time. Should we go relaxer just for me or go for Japanese relaxer. I wanna her to grow with healthy hair... It's hard for me to decide for her as I have no experience in that hair type.
I had this for years when I lived in Cali. Moved to Iowa and Texas. Neither had anyone worth getting it done by. I tried. Moving to Jamaica soon and it doesn't look like it's available there.
Very informative video, I'm strongly considering this & I appreciate your insight :) I was wondering if you know the brand used at your salon because I'd like to get the same thing; Is it Liscio?
I do think it might dry your hair out and cause some breakage. If you go through with dying your hair, just be sure to deep condition weekly until your hair feels normal again!
I actually tested out color on my hair while it was straight permed some months before big chopping. It actually held up pretty well! I'd just say to wait a month or two after your perm before coloring if you're using permanent color, and deep condition at least once a week!
@@hunxue7778 okay I have another question? How long must I wait after a regular relaxer to do a Japanese straightening? I called one salon and they told me I’d have to wait until my hair completely grows out to do it and that kind of bummed me out

I am relaxed but my hair is not flourishing so I’m ready to try this- at home- and prepared for a major cut lol

Do you still have it?
What strength of JHS perm does your stylist use on your hair? (mild, medium, strong?)
I appreciate your videos. Most people don't show how their hair looks after they leave the salon.
:') thank you! I want anyone considering the process to know what to expect! ...especially for these prices haha

For most hair treatments (don't know specifically for JHS) it's usually between 2 - 6 inches required.

I haven't heard anything so far about there being a reaction to henna hmm! I'd suggest maybe using a semi-permanent, that's what I plan to do soon :)
Have you ever roller set/curled your hair after the treatment? If so, did they hold well?
I've never done a roller set, but I do flexi rod sets and the curl holds well if you use a mousse!
Can you still put braids in your hair after the Japanese hair straightener

Please answer🙏🏽 Does your hair hold a curl? Like if you braided it or put flexi rods in?
I think it depends on your hair type, a lot of people say theirs don't hold curls, but mine held curl VERY well!

Yes. In her previous videos she said Liscio was the brand the salon uses.
It was Liscio! :) Very good brand in my opinion
Does the Japanese version burn like relaxers?
No, they don't burn or itch at all :)
Do u think getting it done on old box dye color will be risky?
I do think it might dry your hair out and cause some breakage. If you go through with dying your hair, just be sure to deep condition weekly until your hair feels normal again!
is it possible for your hair to go back to their natural curls?
No, it's permanent, you'd have to big chop or transition back
I'm considering doing this, but I still want to be able to color my hair

What’s the difference between keratin hair vs Japanese
Keratin treatments are temporary straightening treatment that lasts a few months, and the Japanese straight perm is a permanent straightening treatment.
Does it burn like a perm?
No
if you have the treatment can you use semi/demi permanent dye?
Yes!
Are you likely to be turned away from the treatment if you have some heat damage from straightening?
If the damage isn't severe, you should be able to get it with no problems :)
You can do a demi or semi on your hair.
Thanks for the tip! That is absolutely what I'm planning! :)
