After taking the MRT from Hwai Khwang, we quickly stroll through the mall before heading to the top floor to enter inexpensive Thai food heaven for a $10 challenge!

The owner of the department store is a kind, compassionate person. He wants people to eat good, cheap food.

Talk about "Durian" ทุเรียนไทยมีหลายสายพันธุ์ แต่สายพันธุ์ที่ทานง่ายและได้รับความนิยมคือพันธุ์ "หมอนทอง"
ปกติแล้วผู้คนที่ชอบทานทุเรียนจะแบ่งออกเป็น 4 ประเภท
1. ทุเรียนที่ดิบค่อนไปทางห่าม ยังไม่สุกดี จะมีรสชาติมันๆ ไม่ค่อยมีกลิ่น เนื้อสัมผัสจะค่อนข้างแข็งหรือกรอบ นิยมเอาไปทำทุเรียนทอดเป็นแผ่นและโรยเกลือ
2. ทุเรียนที่สุกแล้ว จะแบ่งประเภทเนื้อออกเป็น 2 แบบย่อย
2.1 แบบแรกคือเนื้อแบบ กรอบนอก นุ่มใน เป็นระยะที่เป็นรอยต่อจากทุเรียนที่ห่าม เนื้อด้านนอกจะยังมีความกรอบนิดหน่อย แต่ด้านในนุ่มแต่ไม่เละ เป็นระยะที่จะมีกลิ่นอ่อนๆ รสชาติหวานอ่อนๆ เหมาะกับมือใหม่ที่ต้องการลองครั้งแรกๆ เหมาะกับการกินสด
2.2 แบบที่สองคือเนื้อแบบนิ่ม คือทุเรียนที่สุกเต็มที่แล้ว เนื้อจะนิ่มทั้งผิวนอกและด้านใน รสชาติจะหวาน กลิ่นจะแรงขึ้นแต่ยังไม่เหม็น เหมาะกับการกินสด หรือจะนำไปทานกับของหวานอื่นๆ เช่น เป็นท็อปปิ้งไอศครีม ท็อปปิ้งน้ำแข็งใส หรือท็อปปิ้งข้าวเหนียว
3. ระยะสุกงอม เป็นระยะที่แก่ที่สุด กลิ่นจะแรงมาก เนื้อค่อนข้างเละ จะทานสดก็ได้สำหรับคนที่ชื่นชอบและทานเป็นอยู่แล้ว แต่จะนิยมทำไปแปลรูปเป็นขนมมากกว่าเพื่อลดกลิ่นและคงรสชาติ เช่นไอศคริมจะไม่ใช้ทำเป็นท็อปปิ้ง แต่จะปั่นให้เป็นเนื้อเดียวกันเลย หรือข้าวเหนียวทุเรียนอย่างในคลิป ก็จะไม่ใช่การทำท็อปปิ้งแต่จะเป็นการผสมลงในน้ำกระทิเพื่อเจือจางกลิ่น สามารถนำไปทำเป็นลูกอมและอื่นๆที่ต้องการรสชาติที่เข้มข้นแต่ต้องการลดกลิ่นให้เบาลง
Talk about "Durian" There are many varieties of Thai durian. But the strain that is easy to eat and is popular is the "Monthong" variety.
Usually, people who like to eat durian are divided into 4 categories.
1. Durian that is slightly raw, not yet ripe, will have an oily taste. not much smell The texture is quite hard or crispy. It is popular to make durian chips and sprinkle with salt.
2. Ripe Durian The type of meat is divided into 2 subtypes.
2.1 The first type is crispy on the outside, soft on the inside. The outer meat will still be a bit crispy. but the inside is soft but not messy It's a period that will have a mild smell. Mild sweet taste Suitable for beginners who want to try for the first time. Suitable for eating fresh
2.2 The second type is soft meat. is a fully ripe durian The meat will be soft both on the outside and on the inside, the taste will be sweet, the smell will be stronger, but still not stink. Suitable for eating fresh or to eat with other desserts such as ice cream toppings shaved ice topping or sticky rice topping
3. The ripening stage is the earliest stage. The smell is very strong. The meat is quite messy. can be eaten raw for those who like it and can eat it already But it is more popular to make it to translate into desserts to reduce the smell and maintain the taste. For example, ice cream will not be used as a topping. but it will be blended into one homogeneous mixture. or durian sticky rice like in the clip It will not be a topping, but will be mixed into coconut milk to dilute the flavor. Can be used to make candy and other things that require intense flavor but want to reduce the smell to be lighter

Food courts in Bangkok are seriously amazing. It's unbelievable how much you can get for such a small amount of money!
And personally, I quite like durian! Anja isn't as big of a fan as me, but we both agree that it doesn't deserve all the hate it gets. 😁

T-21 Mall on Rama III about a year ago. No metro rout passing though. Crazy as it may sound, it’s about 15 min from T21 Asoke by Taxi or Grab. 😄

the sweet sticky rice and super sweet coconut milk sauce will mask any strong smell of durian but tbh durian tastes good on its own imo.
Yeah, we’re going to try durian on its own next time. It was pretty good with rice, but we’re curious if we would like it more on its own. ☺️

Use fork and spoon for rice dishes on plate. Use chopsticks for noodles.
This explains it! We've learned the correct way now. I'm not sure what we were thinking haha. It's so much easier with a spoon!
@@mikeandashley it’s fine we all have to learn somewhere , but Thai primary uses fork and spoons for most rice dishes, the exception is when you are given a bowl of rice instead of being served on a plate, which the Chinese would hold the bowl and use the chopsticks to eat rice.
In awkward situations and you given a bowl of rice, don’t feel shy to ask for a plate and use fork and spoon. No point struggle if you are not used to it, it’s perfectly normal.
Thanks! We actually love using chopsticks and carry our own around. But spoons for rice is the right and only way for us now! 🙏

I prefer the MBK mall, food court, But I did find a couple nice restaurants at terminal 21 but they weren’t in the food court, one of them was an amazing Lebanese restaurant that faces the food court, Don’t get me wrong. I enjoyed the food court upstairs as well, there’s also the other food court in terminal 21 on the bottom floor but they’re more of street food which is fantastic
Interesting! We love MBK mall, but we felt the food court was unremarkable. The prices were good, but most stalls were closed down any time we’d go. Lots of great shops though!

the right way to eat rice in thai foods use spoon and fork, not chopsticks or fork. Chopsticks is for noodle. Thai use spoon to eat and use fork to get the foods in the spoon. Usually, thai dishes have the runny sauce, so it is hard to eat with fork or chopsticks. You will enjoy more thai dishes . You can return the card at the counter before you leave the food court, you will get the remaining money back. Many foodcourt clear the billto each shops aftere they are closed, so normally the money you fill in the card can be used only on that day.

Street food has a rent that each owner adds to the cost of food. The food court has one owner. Stores therefore sell cheaper.

Two common mistakes people make trying durian is, firstly trying poor quality out of season durian, and secondly giving up on it on the first try. Like so many great things in life, it is an acquired taste.
We actually love durian! We’ve tried it since then and it was amazing. Our next vlog will be where we try some fun fruit from Thailand!

Because some Thai food design for it (long time ago we ate by bare hand and this spoon coming with Victoria age culture)
Good thing from spoon is you can enjoy your meal with best Thai food experience e.g. Pad kra pao : a spoon can help you mix a rice , sauce, Kra Pao and eggs in one bite compare with folk that cant handle a sauce for best experience.
We love foreigner and happy to see them enjoy our food and smile with their heart this is fullfil a little Chef in this country.

Nice video, but I think you have spent too much time in China or Japan. 🙂
Chop sticks only for noodle soup, not for Thai dishes. Use spoon and fork for Thai dishes. Even with Pad Thai most people prefer spoon and fork over chop sticks.

@@mikeandashley for a sample, Chulalongkorn University where are so close to MBK hall. Some part of the land in Siam Square also belong to Chulalongkorn University. They unviversity is public university, the students come from many places in Thailand, some of them do not have much money. They choice they make all about value. Ramkhamhaeng University area should be the cheapest from what I know. because of this university is so open to every students.

You better try to use spoon and fork when you eat rice. It's much easier to eat rice with spoon and fork.
In Thailand, people eat with a spoon in the right hand and fork in the left. The spoon is used to put food into the mouth, while the fork is used to scoop and arrange rice and food onto the spoon so it doesn't fall off on its way to your mouth.
