You really weren't lucky for the sunrise because seeing the sunrise on the plain of Laos with a sea of mist where only the mountain peaks stick out is indescribable... I was lucky to see it Twice in 2005 and 2006 when there was still no way to sleep there, we really had to leave Chiang Raï very early. But what a fantastic spectacle, despite the years I still remember this fabulous sunrise, it remains my most beautiful sunrise of my life with the one I experienced on the Li River near Yangshuo in China.. .
Oh, wow. That sounds beautiful and we're sad we didn't have the same experience. Hopefully, if we ever make it back to Phu Chi Fa, we'll be able to see the sea of mist with the sunrise a bit better. 🥰
The best view to see sunrise on Phu Chi Fah is not on the top of Phu Chi Fah but the lower area as you can see the top of Phu Chi Fah on the left hand in the view because I have been 2 times and took the photographs .
I know! We found this out as we were leaving because so many photographers were there! We wouldn’t have been able to see much anyway because of all the mist, but it was still a sight to behold! 😊 I bet your photos are BEAUTIFUL!
Poo Chee Fa in Thai means the peaks of the mountains pointing towards the sky. Poo and Doi in Thai mean The peaks of the mountains. For example, Doi Suthep, Doi Inthanon, Poo Chee Fa. Moo Kra Tha is relatively new Thai food item created in Thailand back about 15 years ago with its own unique design of the grill pan. It has mixture, adaption and influence from the food of 2 nations - sukiyaki soup from Japan and popular Grilled meat from Korea. As you may know, a lot of authentic Thai foods have influence from surrounding countries like India, China, Laos, Japan, Korea. Hope you enjoy all the moments in Thailand.

I went there for my New Year Trip and glamping at the Happy Camp just like you. Like a couple guys commented before, there are "Doi Pha Tang", "Phu Chi Dao", and "Phu Chi Duean" nearby "Phu Chifa". If you go to the peak of Phu Chi Duean (the highest one) you will see all of them at once. Phu Chifa is the most famous among them. I would recommend to see the sunset at "Phu Chi Duean" first and next morning go to see the sunrise (and fog) at "Phu Chifa". After that will be "Phu Chi Dao" and Doi Pha Tang the last. Waiting for your next trip.

You should stay for few days from Chiangrai, start at Doi Pha Tung, a little Yunnanese village, Phu Chi Dao, Phu Chi Duen then Phu Chi Fa.
