Hi Jayce, I enjoyed your projector reviews, now I'm seriously considering this Mi Smart Compact Projector. But lately there is this advertisement for "Lumos Projector" which had been popping up quite frequently in facebook. I think it's either a Malaysian / Singapore company claiming it's the best projector in its price range. But I don't quite trust it's shady youtuber / celebrities endorsements (seems fake or well paid). Do you mind testing out this projector?

I'm very impressed. VP6 projects around 85 inches from 2,7 meters. But Mi Smart Compact projects around 100 inches from the same distance. Also it's compatible with 24hz and HDR. I think it's really worth it to pay the higher price for this one. Too many advantages. Thank you very much for the review!

That is amazing so i can project more with less distance. I found it as an issue nowadays with vp6..i cant project well 90inchs because it will be on an spot where people pass by my room. I had to project between 50 and 65 inchs only..the good is: i can use even on daylights with this "lower" size.. Having in count that vp6 and mi smart can project around 200inchs them 50inch is tiny..

Wemax Dice and Formovie Dice is the same model. Just different name. It is slightly better than Mi Projector. And comes with battery built-in.

Nope. Don't use digital zoom or keystone adjustment if possible. It degrades the image quality.

Version 1 is better with 0.33 DMD. Version 2 is using 0.23 DMD. But it does have 4 way keystone correction.

Last time I did try using with Piqo, it cannot play Netflix using my iPhone. But since already built in Netflix from the Android OS, so still can play thru it.

Hi E, you need to find wireless casting app in Play Store for your iPhone. Should work fine.

I have been using the mi projector (version 1) global with the certified Netflix. I get the HD symbol when choosing a movie (in Netflix faq HD means it is either 720 or 1080 movie) I also get the 5.1 symbol that means it has the 5.1 sound available. But I don't get the HDR symbol as I get on the same movie watching on my smartphone or TV, nor the Dolby Atmos symbol. Witch means the Netflix app is not recognizing that the mi Smart projector supports HDR10 and dolby sound.
Mi Projector is a SDR projector. HDR support is basically decoding only = HDR to SDR mapping. It performs better on SDR. No Atmos symbol is correct as it does not support it.
FYI, HD = 1080p. 5.1 = Dolby Digital 5.1.

May i ask does it really has auto vertical keystone, could you please try lifting projector up 30 degree to test auto keystone. I used Chinese version before and i don't see this setting at that time (sell away already). I might buy new global Version if it can do auto keystone when move projector
Yes, it has. Working normally. But direct projection always gives the best image quality. Try not to use keystone if possible.

Hey everyone! Is Mi Mijia DLP Smart Mini Projector the same as this one? When I search it up the design is entirely the same but I got confused of the naming here

here are some cons and bugs: you cant change things like picture mode / quality aswell as sound settings on the fly. you have to go back to the options menu which causes the running app to close. on hdmi on the other hand it is possible. i found a bug on hdmi mode.. if you turn off system sounds (menu pop-klick sound) you no longer can change the sound mode no matter what (off, cinema, music , custom) > the slider moves but nothing changes untill you turn system sounds back on again. :)

Nope, won't do it. For image quality, projector can't fight TV at all with the same screen size. TV always win projector at the same price.
Why buy projector? It's all about very large screen size.
If budget is not a problem, get yourself a 120" OLED TV. Settle!!! 😁

I didn't do anything. Get a better camera that doesn't have this issue.

Hi, I bought this projector like a week ago. But im experiencing problems with starting the projector. I would appreciate if you can maybe help me. When i click on the (remote) power button, the fan noise starts but the screen will not turn on. Then after a few seconds it shuts itself off again. This happens sometimes (sometimes two times simultaneously ). After retrying a few times, the projector (and screen) will eventually turn on. Also sometimes the screen would not load if im watching netflix or youtube: the screen will show black/nothing but it shows only the subtitles. After a few minutes or after a restart it is fixed. Is this normal? How can i fix this? Or should i just buy a new one?

Nice review but the focusing issue really bothers me. Also, the lack of side keystone correction is an issue as I need to place it on the side of my bed and project the image on the ceiling.

A minor one. You just need to refocus once after 20 minutes. That's it. No need to do anything after that.

Very confusing. How many versions are there for this model?
Very important question - must the projector be exactly in the centre of the wall/screen to project the image nicely or can it adjust the image nicely even if it is higher/lower or at the left/right of the exact centre of the wall/screen? I read on Mi's site that it is not able to do angle projection. Not sure if angle projection is relevant to my question.

2 models so far.
First version has both China and global firmware.
2nd version is China firmware only.
First version supports vertical keystone adjustment only. Second version supports 4 ways. As usual, direct projection gives the best image quality.

Good question. Not much different actually. In short, version 1 is better than 2 in brightness and image quality. 2 has better keystone adjustment.

Did you notice any problem with autofocus if longer playing (longer then 30-40min)? A read reviews that becouse over heating of lens system the projector loose focus and you have to corect it manual.
Didn't notice much on small screen. Just tested on 150" screen size. Yes, the center bottom part will out of focus after 20 minutes. Other corners are okay. Re-focus fixed it.

hello, you say bw-vp6 is the same as wzatco c2. but in your ranking vp6 is in second place and c3 in 4 place, with another projector in the middle. my question is, being equal shouldn't they be next to each other? or the fact that the c2 fan is noisier makes it jump further down the ranking. thank you so much. greetings
Yes, C2 noise level makes it drops to 4th. M20 should be on 2nd if the noise level is good.
