You are most welcome! As for image quality, no. V1 is better with 0.33" DMD. V2 is 0.23" only. Image quality is not much different. But colours and brightness are... 🫂

hi jayce! i found that this projector is priced very closely with Benq GV11, but mi smart projector 2 has the higher spec (in my understanding). but out of curiosity (and also for my consideration to make the final decision), why is it the BenQ gv11 is priced so high with only 480p native resolution? is it worth skipping mi smart projector 2 and going for BenQ gv11?
i read other reviews they wrote this projector is basically the same as the mini compact but with improved features like keystone etc. but i fear this might have plastic lens like the mini? with heat the lens distorts the image, could you verify? i read that the mi smart pro 2 has glass lens the bigger projector, hence glass is clearer according to the review from Laurent willen from Belgium
Not all reviews are telling the truth. Even Xiaomi. 😅 4-way keystone is the only upgrade. V1 can do so too if Xiaomi wanted. Just software upgrade will do. Same plastic lens. Better but still lose focus a bit if projecting large screen. All other details will be included in comparison video soon...
Hi Jayce , when you were testing Xiaomi Mi Smart Projector 2 did it loss focus after heating up . I have read a lot of bad report on version 1 and 2 lossing focus after they heat up because of the plastic lens .Thanks in advance you are always super helpful .

v2, not so much. v1, yes. Since you got T6 Max already, keep it. Unless you have more money to spend, and want an official Android TV with 1080P Netflix.

Hello my friend, in Mexico I could find the previous model the Mi Smart Projector and almost the same price the Benq Th585 supposedly for gaming... The Mi Projector has more smart options but the Benq has 3500 lumens in paper (my priority is quality and not paying too much) .... What would you choose? I know could be difficult but would be nice if you reviewed Projectors as Benq, Optoma, Epson etc because sometimes the price is very close to the expensive ones, maybe your eye is more trained to be judge of, is it really a big difference in lumens or ansi lumens with the big projector brands? Hi Marcos, I can't comment much those projectors that I did not test myself. Specs do tell everything. I own Optoma HD29Darbee with 3200 Lumens. But it does not look as bright as it look. Maybe the lamp bulb is old already... 😅
Purchased the projector.......This projector cannot stay in focus. It requires to auto or manual focus on startup and 1 more time after it warms up (aprox 15 min of use) Very frustrating. Is there a way to fix this?

Hi! I bought the MI Smart Projector 2, but I couldn't get it to work. The remote control doesn't pair with the projector, the projector doesn't detect any Wifi network and also I couldn't connect to it via Bluetooth network. The only way I was able to access the system was through the mouse connection, but as it is not possible to configure the settings without being connected to the internet, I could not use it. I contacted xiaomi the told me that input lag may "maybe" improve by turning OFF auto keystone correction (maybe trying also turning off autofocus?). Hello Jayce, I just bought the xiaomi smart projector 2, I noticed a problem: sharpening is way to aggressive in the default settings (I watched cinema mode, and game mode). For movies I can solve the problem by simply creating a custom preset and lowering the sharpening to zero. But for game mode I didn't found a way to reduce sharpening. Sharpening in game mode is ruining the image quality of any games being so strong. Do you have any suggestions to solve this problem please? Honestly I'm considering to return the product to Amazon where I bought it. Thx for your attention and kindness.
@@jayceooi Thx a lot for the info Jayce, do you remember if with the xiaomi smart projector 1 it was the same as the version 2 regarding the ugly sharpening in game mode? I'm considering looking for a different brand like Epson/Benq I hope they offer a more balanced game mode or the possibility to tweak the sharpening in that mode. If sharpening is too strong it flattens the picture loosing immersion imho, and makes aliasing more evident.

Hello, i own the same projector (mi smart mini projector 2), and i cant find a way to adjust image settings while playing a movie. I have to stop the movie, exit to start screen and go to settings. Its impossible to calibrate a screen without a reference movie playing. At mi smart mini projector 1, you had to press the middle button on the ring, with gen.2 when you press it nothing happens. I don't think this could be considered a budget projector since it costs at least twice of a 1LCD with same resolution. Quality is way better though. You get what you pay for.
Forget about daylight usage… and even on dark room, forget about black… this projector is nice but for the price the image quality is really bad ! This is a paid review… so not very objective

Hello my friend, in Mexico I could find the previous model the Mi Smart Projector and almost the same price the Benq Th585 supposedly for gaming... The Mi Projector has more smart options but the Benq has 3500 lumens in paper (my priority is quality and not paying too much) .... What would you choose? I know could be difficult but would be nice if you reviewed Projectors as Benq, Optoma, Epson etc because sometimes the price is very close to the expensive ones, maybe your eye is more trained to be judge of, is it really a big difference in lumens or ansi lumens with the big projector brands? Hi Marcos, I can't comment much those projectors that I did not test myself. Specs do tell everything. I own Optoma HD29Darbee with 3200 Lumens. But it does not look as bright as it look. Maybe the lamp bulb is old already... 😅
Purchased the projector.......This projector cannot stay in focus. It requires to auto or manual focus on startup and 1 more time after it warms up (aprox 15 min of use) Very frustrating. Is there a way to fix this?
Nope. It's hardware limitation. Just refocus once after 15 minutes.

I bought the MI Smart Projector 2, but I couldn't get it to work. The remote control doesn't pair with the projector, the projector doesn't detect any Wifi network and also I couldn't connect to it via Bluetooth network. The only way I was able to access the system was through the mouse connection, but as it is not possible to configure the settings without being connected to the internet, I could not use it. Can someone explain to me what is happening and if possible could help me?

I contacted xiaomi the told me that input lag may "maybe" improve by turning OFF auto keystone correction (maybe trying also turning off autofocus?). Could you test again input lag if possible please? I copy paste here what they told me by email, thx for your attention let me know please. From xiaomi mail message: "...to ensure that your projector is working at its fastest speed possible, it is recommended that you further boost their projector’s speed by turning off any additional image processing functions such as keystoning, aspect ratio manipulations, and overscanning. "
My input lag test was done without keystone correction nor zoom.

Hello Jayce, I just bought the xiaomi smart projector 2, I noticed a problem: sharpening is way to aggressive in the default settings (I watched cinema mode, and game mode). For movies I can solve the problem by simply creating a custom preset and lowering the sharpening to zero. But for game mode I didn't found a way to reduce sharpening. Sharpening in game mode is ruining the image quality of any games being so strong. Do you have any suggestions to solve this problem please? Honestly I'm considering to return the product to Amazon where I bought it. Thx for your attention and kindness.

@@jayceooi Thx a lot for the info Jayce, do you remember if with the xiaomi smart projector 1 it was the same as the version 2 regarding the ugly sharpening in game mode? I'm considering looking for a different brand like Epson/Benq I hope they offer a more balanced game mode or the possibility to tweak the sharpening in that mode. If sharpening is too strong it flattens the picture loosing immersion imho, and makes aliasing more evident.

Hello, i own the same projector (mi smart mini projector 2), and i cant find a way to adjust image settings while playing a movie. I have to stop the movie, exit to start screen and go to settings. Its impossible to calibrate a screen without a reference movie playing. At mi smart mini projector 1, you had to press the middle button on the ring, with gen.2 when you press it nothing happens. Can anyboby help me with a solution?? Thank you in advance.

I know the DMD of version 2 is smaller than version 1 but I didn't understood if this reflects on the pixels count. I wish to know if I can trust it being at the same pixel resolution as version 1. No, same 1080p. But 0.33 DMD is slightly sharper than 0.23 DMD. Colour wise, 0.33 DMD is much much better.

I don't think this could be considered a budget projector since it costs at least twice of a 1LCD with same resolution. Quality is way better though. You get what you pay for.

Is it a DLP projector? I thought it's a LED projector.
Yes, it is a DLP projector with LED light source. Older one use lamp bulb. Newer and better one use laser light source.

FYI, you cannot use keystone correction. Else some parts will be blur even focus correctly. This applies to all projectors.
