- Start by determining the desired length of the haircut from the side of the head, so it will be easier for the client. Cut the perimeter of the hair first. Cut the entire hairline on zero degree angle. Establish another guideline on the top of the head, and cut the hair on the entire top section of the head on 90 degree angle. Do not elevate the hair around the front hairline. It is best to cut going forward to the face. Continue cutting the top hair and move down to the back area, do the entire back section following the top guideline, and then match it with the guideline around the hairline. Layer the front hair towards the face. Check the entire haircut, blow dry and style. This is a basic layer haircut class for hairdressers, cosmetologists, barbers, beauty school students, instructors and industry educators, and salon professionals, who like making money by doing what they love.

Very nice haircut. Her hair has good texture and movement. I think she should let her hair dry naturally instead of a blow out with a brush.

If you want the top layers to be longer, just overcorrect them forward towards your forehead or your nose, based on the length of your hair, and the top layer would not be too short. To shorten the hair on the hairline, comb it forward and cut the fringe towards your forehead, and the side hairline on an angle; diagonal to your cheekbone, holding you hand on an angle from the forehead to the ear area.

If you like, you can write me a personal message, my channel has that, and I can answer your questions privately. It is hard to determine your hair length from what you have described, but, if it is 6 inches or less, and you are having trouble evenly cutting the hair, you can use a comb to measure out of your head; just place the comb straight out of your head, measure and cut it at the end of the comb; you cannot go wrong (leave the hairline, it's better that way, and cut it towards your face).

@terazia06 No, not for state board; they want a traveling guide gradually traveling up from the nape to the crown. This one has 2 guidelines; one on the nape, the other on the crown; it is more of a salon haircut.
