A friend send me to this video Got gosebumps when i saw my and my brothers old car mulitple times Nice explenation about the G6R !! Yes the best way this car was with a 20v blacktop had it for 2 years and it was fun but not fast enought for me so that burnout was with a 3sgte with 279 hp Had it for 12 years and its a fun chassis
@bvonl90 Haha awesome. I'm really glad you enjoyed it and your car was able to feature. Thanks for the compliments. My next video is on the AE111 LEVIN.... coming soon :-)
Have it for 24 years, and powered with the 20v black top and the c160 trans. Such a great car with great suspension system. You can enjoy an aggressive ride with twisty turns.
Amazing, congrats on a lovely 20v build. The C160 is a lovely ratio gearbox. I put one into my E11 vvti years ago. Your 20v build is how this car should have come from the showroom. 158hp is perfect for a hatchback like this. Are you based in the UK?
Man can you imagine how high the Tax and Insurance in Ireland would have been on a 3SGTE Corolla 😀 2zz is a great engine powerful yet economical, and the 1.8 size makes it decent for Irish car tax
@HobTecCars well that's true fella, my corolla is actually still going, I fully wrc kitted it , twin flow exhausts, mr2 leather seats, I'd love to buy it back someday. Irish btw
AUS Toyota released the Corolla Levin Sportivo AE112R in 2001 with a 1.8 turbo charged engine making around 155hp. Limited edition of 110 cars. Rare as....
Could you make a video talking about the difference between G6 and G6R and go in depth about 4efe, 4efte, 4zz and all the differences. It would be very interesting to see the facelifts, bug eyes and the progression of them all.
I definitely could do a history on the E11 Corolla, I know all that knowledge in my head. The differences between EU, UK, Ireland, US, and Asia would be messy, but I like a challenge!
I wonder how much it would cost to export a car from Ireland to Jamica? In Ireland we can transport cars from Japan to Ireland for about €2000. To transport across the Atlantic must be the same cost?
I remember when these cars were new. Everyone was so excited about the 6 speed gearbox. I had a 1.4vvti with a 6 speed gearbox. The ratios were: 1st: 2.929 2nd: 2.176 3rd: 1.700 4th: 1.364 5th: 1.167 6th: 0.916 Final: 4.550 Very fuel efficient. Essentially I never used 3rd 😂
So, wrong about unique features ! Front lip and honeycomb grill are on ALL G6 versions ! G6R are ONLY aluminium hood, side skirt and red belts for unique features. Nothing else ! Oh, and not sport springs TTE.. standard suspensions. The sport springs TTE are only put from Factory on the G6S TTE version and G6 TTE-edition version. ;)
It's hard to keep everyone happy. There are so many E11 variations across the Europe. In the UK the 1.3 G6 didn't come with with the enhanced lip. Only this small one. i.redd.it/munprrk4mks61.jpg But you are right that some 1.6 G6 came with what we call a "G6R lip". But in the interests of not boring everyone to death I trimmed the details. 😂 You are correct about the honeycomb grill. It's just the G6R badge, again didn't want to bore the poor audience to death. There is ambiguity about the TTE springs. Some blogs and brochures claim them. Others say they are a 15mm and 20mm Spring from an AE111 Levin. I'd love to see the part numbers to understand the FULL truth.
@SashaEremit The Corolla G6S by TTE was tuned by Toyota Team Europe. It was only available in Germany, and featured a TTE bumper, roof spoiler, exhaust, rims, and badge. The only source I saw online was that only 250 Corolla G6S by TTE were ever made. That makes it a very rare and special car.
@@HobTecCars I know that 250 was G6 TTE-Edition (for the Swiss market). White body color, TTE bumper, TTE spoiler, ARTEC R15 wheels. Maybe there were 2000 G6R's and 250 TTE-Edition + 250 S by TTE? :)
G6S was not built by TTE in Cologne it was developed there. There were two different TTE Workshops back in the Day in Cologne. One for the Road Cars an the one for Motorsport. The G6S Corolla are normal G6 Corollas with the TTE Stuff on it.
4AGE 20v blacktop is different from a regular 4age. See here: www.jdmdistro.com/shop/engines/toyota/toyota-corolla-levin-ae111-4age-20v-engine-2/ Standard 4age is about 112hp. Standard 4afe is about 109hp. Blacktop 20v 4age is 158hp
@@HobTecCars The original 4AGE (16v) is tuneable though. 100 BHP per litre is possible without any bottom end work. The 4AFE is stuck at 104BHP forever. With such an underwhelming engine I don't think the G6R deserves the title "hot hatch".
A G6R just came up for sale in Ireland. Should I buy it for the channel? 😮

@@HobTecCars Im from Greece. Here we got back in the day approximately 100 g6rs, both colours.
@@jimlappas9305 Cool, the Greeks have always been huge E11 fans, I saw the first ever 1zz-fe swapped E11 Corolla on a Greek Forum 🇬🇷
I'm also greek and I'm trying to find a good g6r.

You're very welcome. I'm actually making a comprehensive AE111 doc at the moment. Hope to have it out in about 2 weeks time

I had a 2001 SR with G6R skirts and full interior. I still dream about owning an E11 again

I went to college in Ireland. I saw a Jaguar XJ220 driving around St. Stephen’s Green in Dublin. The car culture there seems to be growing!
That's cool, thanks for sharing!
The car culture is very much a regional thing here.
I hope this become classics one day... I got one in black

What an absolute SLUG. If it didn't have turbo what's the point of it
The Golf GTI 3 that he mentioned in the video was non turbo too. And cost £2000 more than the G6R. In those days non turbo hot hatches were common
if its fun to drive its fun to drive. if power is a cars only thing bringing you inside of it you will get board after you get used to it.
I was thinking the same thing. I had the 1.8l version of that engine and it was gutless.
