As someone who suffers with depression and a mind I find difficult to switch off, these videos offer such great escapism and serenity thank you so much
Did my very 1st solo snow camp in Harrison County Kentucky in early February. Perhaps the most enjoyable experience I have had in a long time.. made a fire, cooked a T-Bone, listened to Waylon Jennings and smoked a good cigar.. I love watching these kind of videos
I camp in a very remote river in Central Florida. I travel by Jon boat. It takes me about sn hour due to trees in the river and under the water. Lots of gators. The bass fishing is great. I rarely see anybody else in there which is ok. I am in a swamp that twist and turns for miles. I love the solitude. Hard to find someone to go with me which is ok. I spend most of the day fishing. Love to be able to send a few pictures but don't know how on just the comment section of your podcast. Enjoy yourself.
Thanks for the dog intro, not sure if you had done that previously. You have to be commended, those two are the most patient and best behaved companions. Well done sir!
The tank & hose for the buddy / mr heater is the jazz. I still keep a few 1lb tanks at camp for back up or the lantern. You made a point about stress & how camping can help. I completely agree. Escape the city, escape the job, detox. Cheers.
Great video. Would always want to do something like this, but given I live in New Zealand I can't exactly drive up mountains where the snow is haha. Nice dogs too, subbed.
Subscribed. You are a well organised man. Good to see. I will be going back through your archive and look forward to your new videos. Thanks for the effort!
I spent a couple years in Oregon. And sadly, my life is in such disarray I never got to really enjoy the incredibly diverse environments that it has to offer. Thanks for letting me live a little bit vicariously. Cheers
That was awesome. To me that is a vacation. I'd much rather be out in the woods with a tent and a fire then some resort with people everywhere. I'm moving to Coeur d Alene in the next few months and I can't wait to be out in the woods. It's therapeutic. Nature has always humbled me and it's always an adventure. You never know what you're going to see. Loved this video. It was peaceful and it's so obvious that you love the outdoors. Great job Jason!!
Ya don't always gotta "get the shot". It was fine with me to just chill with the dogs around the fire and maybe bust out a shot of Pendleton! Thanks for a great year of Primal outdoors videos Jason! Appreciate all your hard work. Happy New Years Brother!
Just found your page... and ooo man I got hooked instantly, your edits and your filming are just marvelous!!! Video skills are on point and of course the amazing photos you include all through out the videos are just amazing! Definitely hope to see more!!! Great job!
Amazing channel amazing video. Beautiful place. Beautiful dogs. Beautiful car. Beautiful fire. Every moment i saw in this video seems like I have lived it. Amazing. Wish I could be there for snow camping
First time passing by your channel and to be honest, I don't exactly know how I ended up here but I'm glad I did. I actually like the mix of modern accessories that you have going on here, i.e., portable heater, propane tank and chainsaw as oppose to the traditional approach. It's refreshing to see something different like this after watching so many wilderness survival/camping youtube channels. You've gotten yourself a new subscriber, man! Kudos on the great work.
The Mr. Heater filter is to get rid of the residues coming from the hose itself. Guaranteed, without the filter your Mr. Heater will die prematurely. Great video (again). Thanks - you are appreciated.
I am from the Philippines 61 here. I really enjoy watching bushcraft camping, especially in the winter time. I wish someday if our Lord almighty allow me to visit Oregon and of course with your permission to let me experience this with you, sir.
I discovered you on Casey LaDelle’s channel getting the lawnmower up the cliff. Started watching your vids as I am stuck home and inside getting thru Covid. Thanks for the subjects of your vids. I especially like the Arizona ones. I live part time in No Arizona. There is so much to explore there. Stay safe and healthy.
Love your egg carton fire starter. I keep a bunch of egg cartons in my garage. When I have enough, I buy a bag of charcoal brickets and some canning wax paraffin. I melt the wax in an old coffee can. Dip each bricket in wax and let it dry on a sheet of wax paper. Then put a bricket in each of 12 slots in carton and tie it closed with string. Last step is to dip the entire carton in melted wax and let dry on wax paper. When I need to start a fire or even a charcoal fire for barbque, I break off 2 brickets and light them, Then pile more charcoal on top and within a few minutes all charcoal is glowing. The wax makes it burn hotter, and also keep it dry. You can start a charcoal fine in pouring rain with no lighter fluid. Nothing to spill. They are small enough to put in a back pack and use to start a camp fire also.
CO2 or Carbon Dioxide is what you breathe out. CO is Carbon Monoxide is what can be deadly as it is colorless, and odorless. Mr. Heater has a reputation for producing heaters that are considered safe to use indoors.

I just turned to this video and I'm so excited this looks so fun so much fun too cold the ice cold and the snow and taking pictures of myself so great love this video just love it
How do your dogs do in the snow? Our dog loves it but when the snow clumps in her paws she instantly lifts it up and limps. Once I clean it out she runs back around. Any dog paw snow boot recommendations? Ps love the channel!
I’ve had good luck with the Ruff Wear boots and Mushers Secret in combo. No matter what booties you get, you will have to cinch them down tight and keep an eye out for them falling down. The Mushers Secret should help with snow clumps but does nothing for the cold.
Beautiful area. Top tents can be susceptible to the environment, i.e. cold/hot temps. I got an adapter and just refill the little green propane bottles from the large tank. Saves space. I use a DeWalt electric chainsaw. Keep it charged from my 3000watt inverter. Love the dinty moore with mashed potatoes....yummm. Good video, thanks for sharing.
I’m happy to see someone use a lighter in the outdoors! I was wondering if that was becoming taboo in the RUclips camping/bushcraft/prepper/emergency preparedness world. I like your videos. You have a new subscriber.
First of all welcome to the channel. I know what you mean about the lighter, I have made a lot of fires with a ferro rod, but quite honestly I hardly carry one anymore, I keep good Bic lighters in several locations and find them to be very reliable. Jason

Another great video Jason, and you made a very wise decision to get out of there before the snow became a big issue for you. It would of been a shame to turn such a great winter camp out into a total nightmare memory. Smart people know when to change their plans and smart people listen to their gut feelings. Thanks for sharing your adventure with us my friend.
Thanks for all the great videos...You have a thirst for the great outdoors and camping as I do.....My question is this....how do you take care of your CVT Tent after coming back from a rainy or snowy trip in terms of preventing any mold and mildew on the tent??
I don't know exactly that would be great question to ask CVT. Its got a very solid frame and extremely durable rip-stop material so I imagine it would take quite a bit before it became a problem. Jason
Isn’t it dangerous to run the Mr Heater in the tent while sleeping? Even though it has a safety switch and tip feature... if the carbon monoxide detector fails you could die right?
Primal Outdoors - Camping and Photography Agreed. I use mine in my tent also. And in a tent, you’ve got enough ventilation since they’re not very airtight. I just use a 6p Ozark Trails tent with a tarp thrown overtop. Next year I’ll attempt to bring my Border Collie youngster along.

That was great. Makes me want to get into winter camping as I just finished a few days summer camping. BC Canada is very similar. I always want to stay a "few" minutes extra too.
Central Oregon is heaven on earth you lucky bastard. lol. I have a 2003 F250 with the 7.3L with 115k miles on it. Sweet truck. I would have fed that can of stew to the dogs personally lol.
Only smart men use chainsaws use enough for the trip and fill the bed up for the next weekend good decision to leave you can't make a mistake in the winter it could deadly do you have chains
Adding a chainsaw to my kit was one of the best gear decisions I have made. I do have chains in the truck, but I don't think they would do much good if I was high centering on the snow. Jason
I'm sure it could deadly if you don't know what you're doing. I'm also pretty sure you can travel comfortably with 100+ lbs of gear under your own power under those conditions, and that affords you a whole lot more freedom. Don't get me wrong - truck camping has its place - but if you're relying on your vehicle in an emergency, you're doing it wrong. I enjoyed the video, it made me want to get my skis and sled out and go find a secluded valley, but I'm a bit disappointed that it didn't include any photos...
I am assuming if your going to go out in deep snow with 100+ pounds of gear under you're own power you will be using Polk sled, 100+ pounds is beyond excessive in my mind for a back country trip. I have spent a good amount of time back packing in the back country and I rarely carried more than 50 pounds on my back. I have my reasons these days that I choose to enjoy a good truck setup and a lot of it has to do with having my two dogs along. I am not sure what you mean by relying on my truck in a emergency this is a camping trip not an emergency. I am glad you enjoyed the video but I don't think you watched it to the end as there was a photo that I shared. Jason
I'm not sure how I missed the photo, that's one of your better snowy landscapes :-) a very classical landscape composition. I personally enjoy shooting spruce in heavy snow and fog, it can produce some very dark and mysterious black and whites.100 lbs is indeed only possible with a sled. I mentioned that figure with regards to carrying lots of gear, like for example a chainsaw. My personal backpack limit is around 65 lbs, which is good for a week solo or ten days with a partner carrying a similar load, but I prefer to carry less and would probably reach for the sled for anything north of 50-60 lbs.My dog really enjoys the winter mountains, but being a border jack, she's too small to move efficiently in heavy snow. Having big dogs, you should be able to use them to pull you and your gear, massively increasing your range. The comment about relying on your truck was directed at Kelly, who suggested that getting stuck with your truck can be deadly.
you made a good call. I find myself doing the "wise thing" more and more often these days. I used to love getting on a deer track and just following it forever. a few times I found myself way too far back and finally turning tail and heading back, then having to figure out a new way out to shorten the distance after realizing there was no way i'd be out before dark. with age should come wiseness, and I do actually catch myself weighing the options first more often now, when before, I would just dive headlong in. oh, and nice dags too.
As someone who suffers with depression and a mind I find difficult to switch off, these videos offer such great escapism and serenity thank you so much

I actually cried watching the precious dogs all snuggled in the tent...it's beautiful.
Daisy and Wheeler look so comfy all snuggly and sleeping. Very sweet.

Great video. Would always want to do something like this, but given I live in New Zealand I can't exactly drive up mountains where the snow is haha. Nice dogs too, subbed.
Real question: is it because there are no mountains in NZ, is it because it's not cold enough to snow or is it because they are too dangerous? Thanks

Better to be safe then sorry. Have the same heater set up for our sugarhouse. What a beautiful spot. Take care, Al
I really like having the mini propane tank its a lot more convenient than toting around a bunch of those green bottles.

Are you running a CO2 detector in your tent?
I work in petrochemical plants and I'd have a detector
@O R 🤔😂🤣😂
I was wondering the same thing.
CO2 or Carbon Dioxide is what you breathe out. CO is Carbon Monoxide is what can be deadly as it is colorless, and odorless. Mr. Heater has a reputation for producing heaters that are considered safe to use indoors.

Good video, also in reference to the previous poll this video popped when I was searching roof top tents. I was thinking about a CVT brand.
Thank you Andrew, I didn't make any reference to CVT or Roof top tents in the title or description of this video so that is very interesting.
Jason
Yeah, I mentioned it as I found it interesting I looked at the description and didn’t see anything.
I have been thinking lately that RUclips is not basing their searches quite so much on the title and description any more but instead using voice recognition to pick out keywords in the video, that could explain why this video came up.

Primal Outdoors - Camping and Photography 👹
We had a tepui, similar tent. Snow was no issue, the rain fly would sag but not bad. Heavy rain and it leaked at the seams though.
Great cinematography. Loved the footage of the truck driving in the snow. Camping in the snow is fun if you come prepared.
Isn’t it dangerous to run the Mr Heater in the tent while sleeping? Even though it has a safety switch and tip feature... if the carbon monoxide detector fails you could die right?
It would be pretty unlikely because I keep a fair amount ventilation by keeping the windows cracked, which also helps with condensation.

Awesome video. Wish I had a vehicle to get me through some snow to get somewhere secluded. One day. Till then we will just watch yours. Thanks.
7.3 in the f250?
you made a good call.
I know what you mean, I am not as young as I used to be, I didn't want to be digging myself out all day. Thank you for watching.
