- Morning Skincare feat. Vitamin C Serum & Facial Sunscreen DEMO
I'm sharing my current AM skincare including my first impressions of a new Vitamin C serum & how much SPF I apply. I also discuss why my personal habits regarding obsessive sun avoidance have changed compared to years prior; and why because of this, I've been doing better overall. As always, I'm simply sharing and encouraging you to do what's right for you. What I practice is never meant to be prescriptive or suggestive of what anybody else should be following--this is merely what I do.

Why is nobody talking about how beautiful and calming her voice is? 😌
Yes! Very calming, her voice reminds me of Liv Tyler
🙂
I experienced something very similar when I was over obsessed about protecting my skin from the sun. I went about 3 years without ever getting any sun, I was always covered head to toe, etc. My skin was amazing but my health started to decline. Right now I still always protect the skin on my face, neck, chest, and back of hands, but I have really relaxed about the rest of my body. Yes I may have more freckles
on my arms now but I am also much happier and have more energy. You’re right...it’s all about balance.
Or you can just take a vitamin D supplement lol.
Sun is very important in india we prefer not to go out bw 8 am to 4 .
Sun makes your body and face happy ofc you need sunscreen but yes Sun is important
Freckles are beautiful💛
@@nukiesduke6868 actually it’s very different than the supplement, and it’s different for everyone. I’ve avoided the sun for years as well and have suffered even though I’m very active indoors. Sun is VERY important for a healthy life.
@@courtneyderouen are you saying supplements are not good enough? Should we still take them or is it preferable to get vit d from sunlight only?
In the last three years or so I kept landing on your channel and randomly viewied your videos. Only today I have realized that I wasn't a subscriber. So today I became one. I like your calm demeanor. Totally different from the "flamboyant" beauty gurus or whatever type of gurus out there.
You have totally given me a new perspective on skincare. I have simplified and gotten rid of all the products I used and purchased everything you use. I started differin gel and have an appointment to see a dermatologist about Retin-A. At 46 I have already seen results acne wise and can’t wait to keep seeing results. Thank you for bringing a breath of fresh air to RUclips with your authentic non-pretentious honest persona and candid help on what is truly necessary in skincare rather than the sales marketing tactics given to us from companies. You are truly an inspiration to me.
Love the simplicity of your skincare routine. And it looks like it is working- You are gorgeous and your skin is beautiful 💕
Thank you so much!!
@@JenniferMyers hope to see you soon jenni. I miss you
Can I offer you to see my channel
Your right we should not be afraid of the sun! We should be mindful but there are so many benefits that we get from the sun!
I agree with you I had a deficiency in Vitamin D and that caused a great hormonal imbalance to the extent where I would cry for no reason at all at aallll my health was really on the edge nd now I really am not obsessive abt it anymore I understood the importance of sun over my physical and mental health. Use ur sunscreen yet don't let ur obsession lead u to a cancer it's just a vicious circle guys, much of something hurts be MODERATE ^^
sorry but sunscreen won't cause cancer lol
@@luisah6663 although there r some literature that says so, I haven't said it does personally. What I meant was that hiding too much from the sun nd not getting ur portion of vit D will lead to a huge imbalance in our body organism which can cause cancer ^^ so moderation is what we need.
@@h.m1653 then I guess I'd rather stick to vitamin D supplements than actual risks from sun exposure
@@luisah6663
Better stick to cod liver, tiny piece every day is all you need for enough of vit D supply. I do that sometimes , also sunbathe for 10 min twice a week ( face and neck covered)
@@user-mi3go7ct4o what is vod liver? Where can i get it
Her channel is the actual definition of ASMR. Specially I come here for this satisfying skincare videos. Always the same , nothing fancy which is the most important thing in nowadays. Consistency over time......
Your skincare routine videos are so relaxing and also refreshing. Before i found you and dr drays channels i believed that i had to have this 10 step routine to keep my young skin, but it s been several months since i m keeping it simple and me and my skin enjoy this routines so much more. Thank you for your videos and your refreshing energy
Oh thank you!
Love your philosophy when it comes to skincare. Your content really pushed me to think, do I really need to spend this much money to buy this many products?! Thank you! Have a great day!💕🌷🌿
It isn't the money spent on products that matters -- it comes down to consistency of routine, patience (as far as tretinoin goes) and protecting with SPF (in my experience, these are the two biggest factors that make the most visible difference).
Studies show that sunlight is very important in our overall health.
Critical, in fact.
The v d!! Yes
So true..this whole -don’t get exposed to the sun-thing is so so unhealthy,it’s only causing further skin and other health problems .
Morning sunlight
I agree, sunlight is important. Morning and after 4 pm. This no sun light thing is really dangerous.
Thank you! Your perspective with skin care, mental balance is most inspiring. 🙏🏼
You’re so amazing , beautiful and eloquently spoken ! 💜
You’re so incredibly genuine!
Your skin looks so healthy and plump (it doesn't look like you have any acne scarring?). I love your eyebrows!
Thank you! My pigment scars are gradually (very gradually) fading over time. I'm patient.
The way you speak is so soothing. It's extremely calm, polite and relaxing.
I have a request, if I may. Could you please do a video on how you massage your face or any exercise. Or how you keep your skin tight, wrinkle free.please
I don't do facial massage. It is my lifestyle; combination of many things.
Love the simplicity as always, all that is needed. You always remind me so much of Selma Blair, such similar stunning features! 💖
I have a kind of OCD, lol, in which I have to feel running water on my face while cleaning it, otherwise I won't feel it clean, so I guess I could never do the way you do... I'm glad you mentioned the sun, in my journey to wellness I have always done almost everything correctly regarding diet and exercises, but always felt there was something lacking, and recently I found out that the "missing link" was sun exposure, because I also was always obsessed with sun protection, and when I began to supplement with vitamin D I avoided it even more thinking I was already having my needs of the sun benefit met by ingesting vitamin D, but it turns out that vitamin D is only ONE of the many benefits of the sun, this one caused by the UVB light, but virtually every wavelenght of the solar light spectrum has its own unique effect and benefit on our body, including UVA, visible light (each one of colors) and infrared... I could spend hours talking about that. Not to say that we should not avoid the sun when it's on its peak hours, I actually avoid it and don't expose myself to the UVB for vitamin D since I keep taking it, but I expose myself to the sun in the early hours of the morning (always in a UV index lower than 3, and without sunscreen, for about 40 minutes) for photobiomodulation and it has literally changed my life. By the way, Jennifer, once I heard you talking on a video about some group of Functional Medicine or something life that, that you participate. How can I find it? Is it on Facebook, is it open to anyone? I would love to change some ideas on the subjetc and learn from others as well.
The natural sunlight exposure has changed my life. The FM group is my alumni group (it's a closed/private forum for graduates).
Hi, that was insightful.! Thank you. May I ask you a question.if you have any idea on what is the ideal time to expose ourselves to sunlight . Specially for vitamin D deficiency . Thanks in advance
@@alishabansal4908, for vitamin D, the ideal is when the UV Index is above 3, or when the sun height in the sky is above 30o, but when it's above 45o you need to use sun protection because it can cause harm to the skin if you expose it too long... so when I want a bit of vitamin D I always expose myself without sunscreen in the hours when the sun is between 30-45o (this is not the temperature, but how high the sun is in the sky, which depends on your location and time of the year, there are plenty of apps you can download on your phone to check that). Hope to have helped.
@@claushenrique thank you so much ! I really appreciate it.
I love how simple your morning routine is. Have you considered adding the dermablend foundation drops to your sunscreen? Tinted sunscreen is supposed to help protect against visible light and thus hyper pigmentation. I’ve seen a couple of dermatologists, including Dr Dray, recommending tinted sunscreen and those drops, and apparently the research shows mixing the drops does not impact the effectiveness of the SPF (plus it could help with the cast)
this video is SO CALMING
Your skin is flawless!! Thank for sharing you morning routine. You are so right getting vitamin D from sun is essential for our well being. I know for just feeling the warth from the sun makes me happy...😀
Thank you!
You definitely need vitamin D. It really does help with health and mood. I feel like certain sunscreens that leave a white cast do not absorb even after 20 min
Jennifer x your just so lovely and honest x ❤️ sending you big hugs from England xxxxxxx
Please share your current AM skincare
Hi Jennifer your skin looks amazing yes Vitamin -D is very good for your overall health and everyday we should get 15 minutes of sun Take Care !!
The difference felt is like night and day. Was that a pun?
@@JenniferMyers haha you're really funny!
Thank you for pointing out the obsession with sunscreen. I realise I need to relax a little bit too...
I was in the same situation with the obsessed behavior. Because I saw grear benefits on being diligent with my skincare. But my health suffered and I personally look bettet with my olive skin browner. I hate tan lines xD so I just have to protect my skin and just wear sleeveless shirts again and LIVE my life
Other than skincare gentle is the key...love it🤗
Absolutely!!
Yeah good advice actually. Even i became obsessed with sunscreen to the point where i became scared of sun. I now realise the both sides of sun's impact. 🙏❤️
Always find your skin routines very helpful.💖
Glad you like them!
Whoa your vid is straight foward! Thank you!!!
I just bought the vitamin c serum thanks for the suggestion! Can't wait to get :D your presence is so soothing thanks for the videos!
Hope you like it! I've been loving it.
Love your videos. Very honest and helpful!
Could you make a video on Keratosis pilaris and how to get rid of it? I've heard you talk about it in a few videos but getting to hear more about your experience with it and the best products in your opinion would be very nice. :)
Yes I can
@@JenniferMyers Thank you in advance
Hello jennifer, so I have a video suggestion for you, I would be really really happy if you do this one, can you film a video where you do the MBTI personality test? And then show us your result. I feel like I'm dying to know your personality type. BTW I've been watching your channel for quite sometime and I just really love it, It's like therapy to me no kidding.
Hi. I completed the assessment when I was around 19 or 20 yrs old when I was seeing a psychologist. The outcome of that assessment was INFJ. I'm not sure whether it would be any different now. At the end of the day it doesn't matter; it's just a label. There are labels for everything!
Love how simple the steps were. Thanks
You're so sweet and calm. Loved the video!
I never worried about skin. I used full sun until I was 28yrs old. Being a scuba diver never used Suncream. Nothing actually. I just used one cream
Using the product on face and neck chest is very clever and is what I love to do x
Hi Jennifer, Love your channel and informative videos! I'm a huge fan of the Obagi sunscreen also! I'm wondering where you purchase the big pump bottle from?
Hi there. They’ve reformulated this product and I dislike the updated version, so I have been using (testing) other sunscreens in my search for a replacement. But I purchased this from an authorized Obagi reseller in my area who distributes Obagi to local businesses (you can often directly contact the distributor with a few phone calls and a bit of patience, which is what I’d done).
Glowing skin, Jen 😍 love your skincare routine! ❤️
Have you tried this Kansa wand? It’s a game-changer!✨
hi, Jennifer! I love your routines, but don’t you feel like only using the wet cloth after the cleanser doesn’t remove it completely?
I was thinking the same
I suppose if it's only a moisturiser + tretinoin applied the evening before the cleanser and wet cloth is more than enough. Some people use only water in the morning.
Joanna C my question was not regarding using the cleanser, I have no problem with that. I was wondering why she doesnt rinse the cleanser directly with water, but instead only uses the cloth, which might leave some cleanser residue.
Not at all
If there's residue, it's okay with me. Sometimes, I do rinse. On this particular occasion, I was gently exfoliating using the cloth, so I didn't.
I love your face smoothness!
Hey Jen! Where do you order the professional size of the Obagi SPF from?
Hi there. They’ve reformulated this product and I dislike the updated version, so I have been using (testing) other sunscreens in my search for a replacement. But I purchased this from an authorized Obagi reseller in my area (who distributes Obagi locally).
Thank you so much I was one of the many requesting this video it was very helpful as always God Bless
Glad it was helpful!
You're beautifull and heart-taking i found ur channel and i gotta be happy thank u lovely and i love youuu too deeply 💙
Good routine!! Thank you!!
Idk I feel like using only wet towel isnt enough to remove the cleanser from the face
I love all of your videos, I feel so calm while watching them 🖤 where do you buy the headband that you put on when you do skin care? They’re so cute!
Thanks! The animal print ones are Conair brand--they came in a two-pack LOL
I think you are one gorgeous young lady. I could look at your face forever. You are soooo pretty.
Thank you so much.....very helpful
Hi Jennifer, so I'm starting out with Differin, why because you said so 😇, and I LOVE Vitamin C serums , preferably the Timeless, or the Deva brand , again because you use it 😀, Now can I use my " C " serum the morning after using Differin??? I'll start with
Differin using only every third night because you said so , my skin is pretty good, hereditary, and thick I'm 60+ years of age, and I really do take care of my skin , Religiously, PLEASE advise me accordingly, TY 😊
Same im only 16 and i was really obssesive with my sunscreen application and the sun i always close my curtains in my house never opens them coz i was afraid of the UVA. Ige been doing it since 14 but then i got really depressed i decided to walk in the sun have a walk and it makes me so much more happier❤😭😭
Greetings JM hope u r well n what a Wonderful Vlog.... thanks n Really Appreciate your Calm Spirit n your Simple But Effective AM Skincare Routine😀👍n Continued Blessings💜....
So nice of you
it’s so frustrating to reapply sunscreen when you’re wearing makeup ugh
Clear and informative, thank you 💌
So glad!
Her skin is dewy like teenagers however still look her age??
Is this a mineral sunscreen? If not, have you ever used a mineral sunscreen? Do you have a favourite? Thanks in advance.
Love your energy :D
I wish I could wear sunscreen all over my face and body, however I have 2 problems:
1. Every sunscreen I try breaks me out, chemical or physical. There was one sunscreen that worked for me years ago but it was discontinued. I think it’s the formulas that is the problem for me, not the zinc or chemical filters. They contain lots of oils, fatty acids or silicones, which unfortunately break my skin out.
2. When I apply sunscreen to my whole body, I feel like I am sweating it off or it’s rubbing off of me. The formulas that are waterproof and sweat proof feel sticky, tacky and greasy, which I don’t like feeling. Also, the affordable ones 9/10 leave a white cast on my skin.
They all leave me very white! It does absorb eventually...but, yes, they do give my skin a whiteness.
Abc xyz try Paula’s choice sunscreens.
@@ladyjade6446 They all contain silicones :/ unfortunately.
Thank you for this video. Love that super size sunscreen pump bottle, dreamy. I am also more relaxed about allowing my body in the sun, life's too short. Xx
There's definitely a balance with living life and protecting from the elements.
Hi Jennifer! I'd love your personal thoughts on Ponds old school cold cream (white tub with the green cap). During summer months I use it and notice it leaves a greasy residue for sure but feels nice. You rock thanks! 🌺
I love your Videos and your skincare routine!
So simple, clean and inspiring. Can I ask, why you prefer the Cerave pm over the am moisturizer for your morning routine?
Because I don't like the SPF formula in the AM version. The PM version is SPF-free, which enables me to use my preferred sunscreen. That's just how I like to do it. I don't like the texture or the feeling of the CeraVe AM. I tried it years ago and disliked it immensely in fact.
The link to Obagi Sun Shield Matte Broad Spectrum SPF 50 shows a different little 3 OZ cream does not look like yours in the video
On your recommendation I tried cerave moisturizer and must say it is amazing. However, from where I come(India), it is available at higher price point. Was wondering if you have an alternate recommendation for cerave moisturizer. Thanks!
Any inert moisturizer would be something I enjoy. I look for water-based with glycerin, sodium hyaluronate, and ceramides, plus niacinimide; maybe some fatty alcohols; those are what I look for in the ingredients.
Hey I am also from India , try simple hydrating Moisturizer it has done wonder to my skin , plus it’s affordable!
@@Liyulishu thanks!
@@JenniferMyers thanks!
Hey where did you buy it from in India?
U look gorgeous..What you do for body hair and facial hair
Love from India 🇮🇳
Hi! I'm sorry I'm afraid I don't have much help to offer as I'm not a very body hair heavy person. I simply shave with an ordinary razor (and even with that I'm terribly lazy, I admit).
Love this 😍❤️❤️❤️❤️
How many times,you reapply sunscreen
I don't.
It is an American obsession with Sunscreens. No wonder there is a deficiency of Vitamin D in our bodies.
@@JenniferMyers But doesn’t chemical sunblocks lose it's potency after every 2 hours? Even mineral sunblocks are supposed to be reapplied after each 4 hours or so. I myself face real struggles to reapply as I sweat a lot. Can you plz elaborate your thoughts on that?
@@nuzhatahmed6216 I don't sweat through mine, so I can't comment about that. But as for reapplication, I don't (unless I'm swimming or something, which is not an everyday thing; then I suppose reapplication is warranted). I would imagine like many things, it comes down to personal discretion.
Jennifer pls make a video on highlighters with no shimmer which looks naturally glossy
Vaseline is the best product to achieve this look...
Wearing sunscreen or any lotion on the body, even taking showers the night before, will indeed affect vit D absorption. It’s best to not use anything on the body for at least 30 minutes, then not putting anything on your body after you go out in the sun because that will also affect the vit D and won’t allow you to properly absorb it.
Very helpful. Thank you
Thanks for sharing. Where can we buy the big bottle of obagi sunscreen?
Thank you for these in-depth skincare uploads, Jen! They are much appreciated. 🤍 I tried two CeraVe products after your description, and they have benefited me greatly! Have you ever tried a facial cleansing brush, such as the Clarisonic? 🛁
I've never! I would never use anything with bristles on my face; ever. That's just me!
I love these videos. I just got a prescription for trentinoin at 27 I hope it’s as effective as it’s been for you! Have you had Botox?
No, I’ve not. Good luck with tretinoin! I hope you achieve great results.

@@JenniferMyers i am sooo happy...😘
where can I find the Obagi Sun Shield Matte Broad Spectrum SPF 50 but the big bottle? I can't find it anywhere.
Have you ever tried the Cereve facial cleanser? Would be interested in your thoughts on how it compares to cetaphil.
I have, and I much prefer Cetaphil. I've heard that others prefer CeraVe, though! So like with anything else, it's all personal preference!
Curious..why towel off the cleanser as opposed to rinsing with water? Maybe I'll try it!
Your so beautiful and it makes me so happy that you use affordable products. I was wondering of the pH of the vitamin c. I wasn't able to find it on their website.
I literally saw ur eyes on a review for castor oil on amazon and ordered right away.
Cerave pm has vitamin B3 which you can’t use with vitamin C Because they cancel each other.
I use them in conjunction with excellent results.
I see you said you don’t like the new obagi reformulation for the spf, so what do you use now??
And what about to reformulation do you not like?? Thanks!!
Plz tell us do you have any routine of chemical or physical exfoliation or any peptides, ceramides application ??
Where did you purchase the pump Obagi sunscreen? The dermologist? I would love to know. Thank you!
Have you ever dealt with forehead lines or anything like that? I am 24 and those have been a problem for me for years and I'm worried I'll never bounce back from them. Thankfully the sun is now leaving me alone where I live so I feel more comfortable using a washoff lactic acid product lately.
I do have expression lines (when I express), however not deep set, yet. They will of course come with age, and that's fine. It's a completely natural part of aging.
hey hope that i can help : when i was 21 (a year ago) i started noticing medium set forehead lines that were permanent (meaning when i was not showing any expression, poker face) due to excessive sun exposure through the years, no sunscreen and "nAtUrAl" skincare such as aloe vera & face oils.
i started applying sunscreen a year ago with a proper skincare routine, exfoliated and started retin-A 6 months ago.
the result? i don't have no wrinkles anymore, they are GONE!!
i think you should analyze your type of wrinkles, most of the type at our age it is due to dehydration so try hydrating serums?? if it is not only that i would recommend you to step up your sunscreen & vitamin A game because it is truly life changing
You are so beautiful Jennifer and your videos are so relaxing. I really look forward to them.

Hi Jenifer...I love your skin care routine ❤️...your skin is gorgeous 👍🏻 but one thing I have been wondering is , what’s that mark on your cheeks?? I have those type of marks too on my cheeks , so if you could share what is it ? N what you are doing for that??
Does retin a removes face fat? Have you noticed your some tightness on your face in these Retin A years ????
So when you are indoors all day like right now with covid and stuff do you still use spf?And how many times do you apply daily? For example of you go to the gym you need to reapply, then you need to apply every two hours ,isnt it a bit miserable then? And not to talk about the cost of the SPF with so much use.Any practical advice?
