    I experienced something very similar when I was over obsessed about protecting my skin from the sun. I went about 3 years without ever getting any sun, I was always covered head to toe, etc. My skin was amazing but my health started to decline. Right now I still always protect the skin on my face, neck, chest, and back of hands, but I have really relaxed about the rest of my body. Yes I may have more freckles
    on my arms now but I am also much happier and have more energy. You’re right...it’s all about balance.

    I have a kind of OCD, lol, in which I have to feel running water on my face while cleaning it, otherwise I won't feel it clean, so I guess I could never do the way you do... I'm glad you mentioned the sun, in my journey to wellness I have always done almost everything correctly regarding diet and exercises, but always felt there was something lacking, and recently I found out that the "missing link" was sun exposure, because I also was always obsessed with sun protection, and when I began to supplement with vitamin D I avoided it even more thinking I was already having my needs of the sun benefit met by ingesting vitamin D, but it turns out that vitamin D is only ONE of the many benefits of the sun, this one caused by the UVB light, but virtually every wavelenght of the solar light spectrum has its own unique effect and benefit on our body, including UVA, visible light (each one of colors) and infrared... I could spend hours talking about that. Not to say that we should not avoid the sun when it's on its peak hours, I actually avoid it and don't expose myself to the UVB for vitamin D since I keep taking it, but I expose myself to the sun in the early hours of the morning (always in a UV index lower than 3, and without sunscreen, for about 40 minutes) for photobiomodulation and it has literally changed my life. By the way, Jennifer, once I heard you talking on a video about some group of Functional Medicine or something life that, that you participate. How can I find it? Is it on Facebook, is it open to anyone? I would love to change some ideas on the subjetc and learn from others as well.

    • @JenniferMyers
      @JenniferMyers  4 года назад +3

      The natural sunlight exposure has changed my life. The FM group is my alumni group (it's a closed/private forum for graduates).

      Hi, that was insightful.! Thank you. May I ask you a question.if you have any idea on what is the ideal time to expose ourselves to sunlight . Specially for vitamin D deficiency . Thanks in advance

    • @claushenrique
      @claushenrique 4 года назад +2

      @@alishabansal4908, for vitamin D, the ideal is when the UV Index is above 3, or when the sun height in the sky is above 30o, but when it's above 45o you need to use sun protection because it can cause harm to the skin if you expose it too long... so when I want a bit of vitamin D I always expose myself without sunscreen in the hours when the sun is between 30-45o (this is not the temperature, but how high the sun is in the sky, which depends on your location and time of the year, there are plenty of apps you can download on your phone to check that). Hope to have helped.

    I love how simple your morning routine is. Have you considered adding the dermablend foundation drops to your sunscreen? Tinted sunscreen is supposed to help protect against visible light and thus hyper pigmentation. I’ve seen a couple of dermatologists, including Dr Dray, recommending tinted sunscreen and those drops, and apparently the research shows mixing the drops does not impact the effectiveness of the SPF (plus it could help with the cast)

    I wish I could wear sunscreen all over my face and body, however I have 2 problems:
    1. Every sunscreen I try breaks me out, chemical or physical. There was one sunscreen that worked for me years ago but it was discontinued. I think it’s the formulas that is the problem for me, not the zinc or chemical filters. They contain lots of oils, fatty acids or silicones, which unfortunately break my skin out.
    2. When I apply sunscreen to my whole body, I feel like I am sweating it off or it’s rubbing off of me. The formulas that are waterproof and sweat proof feel sticky, tacky and greasy, which I don’t like feeling. Also, the affordable ones 9/10 leave a white cast on my skin.

    • @JenniferMyers
      @JenniferMyers  4 года назад +6

      Because I don't like the SPF formula in the AM version. The PM version is SPF-free, which enables me to use my preferred sunscreen. That's just how I like to do it. I don't like the texture or the feeling of the CeraVe AM. I tried it years ago and disliked it immensely in fact.

      Any inert moisturizer would be something I enjoy. I look for water-based with glycerin, sodium hyaluronate, and ceramides, plus niacinimide; maybe some fatty alcohols; those are what I look for in the ingredients.

    Wearing sunscreen or any lotion on the body, even taking showers the night before, will indeed affect vit D absorption. It’s best to not use anything on the body for at least 30 minutes, then not putting anything on your body after you go out in the sun because that will also affect the vit D and won’t allow you to properly absorb it.

      hey hope that i can help : when i was 21 (a year ago) i started noticing medium set forehead lines that were permanent (meaning when i was not showing any expression, poker face) due to excessive sun exposure through the years, no sunscreen and "nAtUrAl" skincare such as aloe vera & face oils.
      i started applying sunscreen a year ago with a proper skincare routine, exfoliated and started retin-A 6 months ago.
      the result? i don't have no wrinkles anymore, they are GONE!!
      i think you should analyze your type of wrinkles, most of the type at our age it is due to dehydration so try hydrating serums?? if it is not only that i would recommend you to step up your sunscreen & vitamin A game because it is truly life changing
