- Let's try this again. My "Rio HD" cover got immediately blocked. I filed a dispute which would normally free up the video until the content owner responded, but RUclips has a new policy of keeping disputed videos blocked for the first 48 hours regardless. So, if you are interested, look for that to be freed up sometime Monday afternoon. One reasons I was irked about the video being blocked was because of a video that I wrote about in the description. Check it out if you like, but wait to comment about it on the Rio video when it gets sprung - • Learn with RUclips: TJ...
The song is the title track off of the "Feels So Good" album by Chuck Mangione which came out in 1977!!! and featured Charles Meeks on bass. I was in the 7th grade when this came out and I must have heard it a thousand times when I was a kid. I'm playing along with the mercifully shortened version from the movie, "Let's Go To Prison". The album cut was 9:43. When I was practicing the song I'd often wonder what would be happening in the scene where this song was used. I believe I had to tune the bass a touch sharp to get in tune with it.
This was the first song I learned when I got this bass a month or so ago. It is a 1983 Aria Pro II SB-Elite 1. It was not the exact bass that I was looking for, but the seller offered it to me for a very reasonable price. I had let a couple of other basses get away and I did not want to miss out on another one, so I grabbed it. The bass behind me is an SB-700 (the bass I was really looking for) that came up for sale on Reverb (for an unbelievable price) the very day that I received this bass, so I did what needed to be done🤑. Jason, who sold me the bass that I am playing, is a bit of an Aria expert which was a plus both before and after the sale. At one time he had a great Aria related blog that he’s ignored a bit, but said he intends to start giving it a bit of attention since interest in these basses has risen in recent years. Here’s a link to that blog - ariabasses.blog... There’s a wealth of information in it. This bass is a bit more of what I’d describe as a “blender” which means that it sits nicely in the mix and blends well with the other instruments. While this is a good thing it is not normally what I look for in a bass. I prefer my basses to stick out a bit more. That being said, for a blender, I really do love the bass. It oozes quality.
Since this bass is essentially the negative version of Cliff Burton's "Black and Gold" Aria bass, I had an elaborate April Fools Day video planned where I was going to hint at doing a Metallica song with it and then Rick-Roll you with this song... but I'm lazy.
I hope everyone is well and coping with the Corona Virus situation. I know some people think we are overreacting and some people think we are not reacting enough. Hopefully, it will pass quickly. The impositions it has created for me are minor and, while I’m sure I could withstand a dose of the virus, I know and love a few people who I know could not, my Mother being one of them. Please be smart, stay safe, and remain healthy.
With the Arias, I feel as though I've nearly reached the end of my bass collecting adventure and have been moving, ever so slowly, closer to making a series of videos on the basses. In fact, I hired a local photographer to photograph all the basses so I would have a nice record of the entire collection before I begin moving some on. Unfortunately, she cancelled out yesterday afternoon (not quite at the last minute, but close enough) saying, "In light of the recent health scares, unfortunately, I will have to cancel tomorrow's session." I can understand taking precautions, but I thought this was a little extreme. I was not going to argue with her. I'm not sure if I will reschedule with her or take the photos myself. The main reason I was willing to hire someone was for their lighting. Good lighting is very important. I could purchase a few diffused lighting fixtures for less than I was going to pay her, so I need to think about it. I used to have a whole setup back when I was doing the collaboration videos - lights, green screen, stands... but I loaned everything to the nice young fellow who was editing our videos and he took off with everything. Never expected that.
OMG! one of my favorite songs. As a trumpet player turned bass player. This is one my favorite tunes of all time. You have out done yourself!
Same here! Brass to bass!
Haha... talk about killing two birds with one stone! I'm glad you liked it. Thanks!
Also a brass to bass player with a detour on the drums.
Im sax player, but will turn to bass player soon.
OMG what a piece of 70's summer nostalgia.
Right?
A bass line that sounds fantastic but you don't really appreciate it until you watch someone play it. Thank you for posting it.
Thanks, I'm very glad you appreciated it.
This is one of those songs from when I was a kid listening to the songs on the radio when driving with my parents that I used to hate...then grew up to loving because it reminds me of my parents and its also really great music.
I don't remember being phased by it when I was a kid. It was always on and never seemed too offensive to me. I'm glad it brought back some good memories for you.
The tone sounds perfect, along with your playing, as usual. Thanks for this post.
PS. Absolutely love the end. ❤
Thanks for watching and taking the time to leave such a nice comment.
I remember this song all over the 1980 winter Olympics and Chuck Mangione played at the closing ceremony
I didn't see it, but I remember a friend saying that he (Magione) looked really crazy when he performed live at the Olympics.
So smooth...your playing, and the song. Love it! Brings back junior high school, Friday night slow dancing, etc. Thanks. Haven’t heard this in years.
Thanks so much. I'm glad you liked it.
They played that song at school dances? That sounds amazing!
i never thought this king of the hill song would have such an awesome bass uff
Someone else mentioned that. I watched the show a few times but never heard it. I'll have to look it up.
This is an underrated tune that gets a kick everytime for me! Great playing man as always, and apologies to hear about the Rio cover...
Yeah, I'd never turn it off if it came on the radio. Thanks a lot. No worries about Rio, it will be set free shortly.
@@TJH3113 Ahhh I hope! Cheers!
Love this. It was a favorite warm up song. The slow intro with the familiar friends chatting it up. Then some real momentum...
Awesome, I'm happy to hear that!
This song is badass on all levels. Great cover Troy. 👍
It is in its own strange way, isn't it? Thanks!
Great job as usual, Troy! In the late '70's my band played this beautiful song on every concert and dance gig! This music brings back good memories!
Thank you very much. Very cool!
Some memories last forever ✌🏻👊🏻😎
Heard that song a million times from childhood to about a year agp... I'll be dang, never paid attention to the bass part. How fun is that. My weekend project, now. Thanks for sharing
Right? Cool. Enjoy!
Kickass cover, and hilarious little gem of a movie! Bro... the Aria, Growl City, population Troy!
Thanks... never seen it, or heard of it. Glad you like it! Thanks.
One of my favourite bits of bass ever. The guitar solo in this is also up there with the best imho.
Cool. I totally agree!
Man I heard this more times then I can ever count but that bass line always sticks in my head after hearing it. As always Troy thanks for the story behind the bass and your playing is spot on and love it when the song ends and you keep going👍👍👍
Right? I've been whistling the horn melody since I uploaded it!
Thanks for watching and taking the time to comment.
ОТЛИЧНОЕ ИСПОЛНЕНИЕ!!! КРАСИВЫЙ БАС...
Большое спасибо.
Thats a good one. Such a happy walking bass line. Classic song! Thanks for sharing!
Thanks for watching and taking the time to comment!
Thanks Troy for making all those vids, I first tuned in to your channel to listen to Rush covers, but you’ve since introduced me to a lot diverse artists I wouldn’t have heard of if it weren’t for your covers.
It's my pleasure. Thank "you" for watching and taking the time to comment. I appreciate the kind words.
appreciated you playing past the end, really educational as I get to hear what it sounded like in isolation
I'm glad you liked it. Thanks.
Love the ending where you kept playing “after the music ended,” what great tone!!!
Thanks so much Victor.
Takes me back! I saw Chuck at the Greek Theatre in Los Angeles in ‘77 for my twenty first birthday.
Very cool! I'm sure it was a great show.
Awesome. Love the jam. As a little kid I always loved this. It was a happy making song
Thanks. I guess it is a "happy making" song, isn't it?
This is a fun song. Great bass and that lead rocks brother.. I remember . We barely had the latest 45s then. 🤣😂 good OL days. I sure miss the way it was😢 THANK you for your effort Troy . Some memories last forever..❤
Yes, it is.
Yes, and the guitar really does some clean-tone shredding during the lead, doesn't it?
Thanks for watching and taking the time to comment.
Absolutely awesome. Has some of my favorite bass lines
Thank you very much!
Charles Meeks...Awesome chart
Thanks.
Such a great bass line, isn't it. I can't get enough of watching this video and appreciate your techniques and abilities......congrats for your nice job....AWESOME.....
Your fan from Brazil, Rogério
Much appreciated! Thank you so much for the very kind words.
You Sir, are greatly talented. Thx for sharing this. I'm a bassist and have been following your covers for years. You always play in such a manner that even I can learn from it. Keep up the great work!
Aw, I wouldn't say that, but I appreciate the sentiment. Thank you very much.
That's great, I'm always happy to hear when people find the videos helpful.
I'll try! Thanks again!
Thanks for posting. I am a beginner and wanted to find someone playing this great song. This is inspiring. I will never get to play like that but will hold on to hope.
It was my pleasure, I hope it is helpful to you. You can do it! Just be patient and take it one note at a time.
I remember hearing this as well constantly although being several years younger at the time. I gained a newfound affinity for this song after hearing the slow (and almost sad) version of the song on an overnight sports radio break.
Interesting. Sounds like the slow version of the Entertainment Tonight theme song they'd use when a celebrity would die.
Holy mother of Christ, Troy. Thanks for enlightening me. Never heard Chuck Mangione before, I'm embarrassed to say, but this will not be the last of him. The tunes just glued me to the headphones!
Also, fantastic playing, as always.
Check the whole album “an evening of magic Live at the Hollywood bowl”
I'm very glad you liked it. Thanks a lot!
You are phenomenal. I am always so impressed at your skill.
Aw, thanks so much for the kind words.
The other bass channel i subscribed, refused to play this song. U played it flawlessly.
I'm glad I could be on service. Thanks.
I certainly look forward to seeing the bass videos!
One of these days. My worst nightmare.
@@TJH3113 you'll do great
Very nice performance my friend!!!!
Thank you very much.
Wow! What a nice sound and I loved the end where you went sans song. Such a great line... Easy, free, bouncy and fun while at the same time holding everything down. Thank you!
I'm glad you liked it. I agree, it is a very nice bass-line.
Rio cover is not the only video you played so well , all your covers are excellent and what a beautiful collection of basses .My fav is the ARIA PRO II INTEGRA Bass
Thank you very much for the very kind words. Another person commented that he purchased a couple Integra basses from the fellow I bought this bass from. He said he loves them.
You did a great job on this song! One of my all time favorites.
Thank you very much.
Damn man, I was so excited to see your cover too. That notice definitely made the day a lot shittier, this is also amazing though! I love your covers man
Aw, that's great to hear. Thanks for the kind words.
What an interesting sound, Looking forward to hearing that bass again
I'm glad you liked it. Thanks for watching and taking the time to comment.
@@TJH3113 Right , got this down now, Just need to get the sound. And that's the hard part.
Greg Patrick Awesome!
In the late 70s, I played (bass guitar) in a band, and when this song came out the band leader asked me if I could play it on one of my horns. I had a “flugabone” (a horn that looked like an overgrown flugelhorn, and sounded like a trombone or baritone horn (both of which I also played). I said "yes”, and we did this song with me playing the “flugabone”, and one of the band’s guitarists playing my bass. Until hearing you play this, Troy, I never realized how nice the bassline in this song actually is.
Very cool. So, was the flugabone like an octave below the range of a flugelhorn? It's hard to imagine. I hope your guitarist did it justice. I guess it's possible. Maybe something to look into.
TJH3113 - Yes, that ‘bone sounded almost exactly like a Bb tenor trombone (or a baritone horn). I see that I was wrong about the bassist on the Chuck Mangione recording of “Feels So Good”. Steve Gadd and Tony Levin had obviously left Chuck’s small combo by the time that song was recorded. I saw them play with Chuck and Gerry Niewood on alto and soprano sax back in the 1970s when I was still living in Rochester, NY and playing gigs all over Western NY (plus a few in Ontario, Canada and some along Lake Erie in PA).
TJH3113 - PS: You do a nice job with that bassline!
Charles Meeks and Grant Geisman (sp)? What a great band...nice one, man!
Definitely! Thanks.
Oh damn. Unexpected. Very nice job!
Thanks!
Never heard this track before (sorry ...) but loved it at first hearing. The baseline fits so well. Great cover.
I'm glad you liked it!
I use this (the original studio version) as my phone ringer! GREAT song, especially for those of us alive when it hit. It was EVERYWHERE at the time. Propelled Mangione like a rocket. Great job, Troy. You were in 7th grade, and I was 7 years old in 2nd, but not too young to notice how big it was.
Haha... great ring tone choice. Cool and quirky. Everywhere is right, but I don't remember it ever getting under my skin.
Fantastic!! Had the "45" of this when I was 9 years old around 1978, an amazing song on all levels and tremendous performance by you!
Thanks!!
Beautiful bass, tone and cover.
Thanks so much!
I don't even like this song, but I never noticed that the bass is carrying the best parts... Well played, sir!
Thanks!
So pleased you got the bass Troy! It's exactly like my old ones. I do regret selling them.
So am I! Aw, you can always come over and play mine if you like.
Fantastic!
Thank!
After following your Rush covers for years, this was a very pleasant and surprising changing of pace! Love it. Loved this tune as a kid, took me years to figure out who the artist was in the pre-internet era. Thank you for continuing to put out such quality videos with such consistency.
Thanks a ton! I appreciate the kind words.
Now this is a CLASSIC Instrumental. Love it! I don’t think I’ve played my Drums 3 times since I purchased my Bass
True that. I'm glad you liked it.
I was looking forward to Rio but this was always a great song. I bought this album in ‘77 at 17 years old. Loved it and good look at how to play it. Nice that you trusted your editing guy only to have him rip you off. He’ll get his! Good job my friend.
Rio should be available sometime tomorrow afternoon.
Very cool. I'm glad you liked it.
Ah... I try not to hold grudges.
Great flow! You did such a great job man, right on!
Thanks a lot. I'm glad you liked it!
Very good job! Love this song!
Thanks a lot! Me too!
I'm sorry about the Rio cover. You did very well with this song. I remember when I first heard it a long time ago. Wonderful playing, as always. Love your videos, especially at the end!
That's ok, it will be up in another 40 hours or so.
Thank you, I'm glad you enjoyed it.
You're welcome.
Awesome job as always ! Very rich bassline. ;-)
Thanks a lot. It is rich, isn't it?
Love those Aria Pro basses
Yeah, pretty cool stuff.
Sounds fab. Top stuff as always 😎
Thank you very much.
Absolutely outstanding playing Troy, and the bass sounds great. Really enjoyed it, thanks for sharing! I was playing sax in the band in seventh grade when this tune came out, but switched to bass 2 years later and learned the bass part from the sheet music when I switched to bass in the high school Jazz band. Dare I say I did not play it anywhere near as well as you just did, not even close. Now you've got me thinking about giving it another go!
Thank you. I'm glad you liked it.
Very cool!
I think you should, it's a fun one.
Perfection
Thank you.
thanks bro! you nailed it :) fan from maple grove MN
Thanks a lot Joey!
Great cover of a fun tune. For some reason (even though I'm subscribed to you) I got a notification from you after a really long time!
I'm back to playing bass again (after taking a hiatus to focus on guitar) and you're a big inspiration!
Thanks. I'm glad you liked it.
Welcome back!
Gorgeous as always :)
Thank you, Sarah! 😊
Amazing performance!! The sound engineer behind this masterpiece is one of favorites, is the excellent Mick Guazaski giving the song some audiophile sound quality!
Thank you. I did not know that. I'll have to look him up.
Well done sir. Another flawless job of THE BEST bass player ever......impressed about techniques, my friend.....i love bass although i can't play it yet.......i'm still learning and i know it'll take so long......but i'll stick with it.....thanks for uploading your vids......they're helping me a lot!
Your brazilian fan
Thank you very much and you are far too generous with your praise.
Keep playing for as long and as hard as you can. Play through the doubt and frustration. Play what you love and play what is above your abilities. You will get to where you wish to be. Practice and repetition is the key.
@@TJH3113 thanks for the advice and tips, sir......"practice and repetition"......i'll keep it in my mind....
Great as usual.
Thanks again!
Supreme!
Thanks!
Awesome as always 👌🏻
Thank you so much 😀
Hi Troy. Just wanted to thank you and express my admiration for your excellent covers. They have helped me immensely as I began learning the bass last year and inspired me to attempt my own for fun. Not as good as yours by a long shot but I am working on it haha. We are about the same age and thus I can relate very well to your songs and postings. I am not sure how you more professional tubers get the better quality of sound for your recordings. Nonetheless thanks again and continue with what I know you enjoy doing very well. Music is great!
Hello and thank you for the very kind words. I truly appreciate them. Congratulations on picking up the bass. I truly wish that you derive as much satisfaction from playing as I have/do. You didn't ask for advice, but I will give it anyway - Play the music you love, played by the bass players you admire and wish to play like. Try to learn songs that are above your skill level, as well as songs that you can play just for fun an enjoyment. Bounce between the two. When you become frustrated with one, move on to the other. When you become bored with simpler songs, move on to the more challenging. I have a video, cleverly titled, "How I Record My Videos" where I describe my method which is excruciatingly simplistic. Truly, if I can do it, anyone can. Thanks for watching and for taking the time to leave such a nice comment. Take care. Yes, music is great!
Thank you for the quick personal response. I believe my proficiency is coming along ok but I would like to do better quality recordings. I obviously record live with my camera (so get string and fret noise etc.) and am actually impressed with the sound and video quality of it. I don't have any software such as garageband etc. and was hoping I could do it without. I will figure it out I am sure. Thanks again for your input and great vids.
Forgot about this song, thanks for reminding me!
My pleasure!
Excellent
Thank you.
loved it!
I'm glad to hear that!
Great job, thanks as always for posting. My first bass was an yellow sunburst Aria P Bass copy, bought new in 1975 I think. One of the early Japanese brands to provide good quality at a non Fender or Gibson price. I recall removing the chrome bridge cover not to look like an old wedding band bassist.
Thanks! Very cool! Yeah, people used to scoff at these "Made in Japan" instruments (myself included), but they've really stood the test of time. In case you have not heard, people are putting those bridge covers back on now... haha.
I feel good already Troy listening your awesome technique and bass tone, thanks man for keeping the great music flowing. I just watched the remake of Rio, mesmerizing as usual. Stay safe and rock on my good man.
Thanks for the very kind words. I'm glad you enjoyed it. You too!
Love the tone of that axe Toby. Love to hear play that jazzy stuff. You’d make a great jazzer man. Thanks for this ! P.S. love how you’ve been extending the performance past the play back.
I'm glad you like it. Thanks. Unfortunately, my theory knowledge is zero, so I probably would not thrive is a jazz chair, but thank for the sentiment.
Yeah, at some point, I thought there might be a few people who'd benefit from a "bass only" snippet on the song.
TJH3113 Just re-read my comment and see that somehow I called you “Toby”. I broke my number one rule of proof reading comments! Thanks for your graciousness in not pointing this out to me lol. 👍
Saludos desde Mty. México
¡Saludos desde New Windsor, Nueva York!
Great song. I hope you and the fam are doing well.
It is, isn't it? Thanks, we are. I hope the same for you.
Ha! I just learned the rhythm guitar for this song last weeks. I look forward to playing along with you. 👍🏽
Wow! What are the odds of that?
Yeah mon, very much digg'n that when I looked up Feels So Good bass cover, your vid arrived. Naturally I suppose - ha. Anyhow, solid part from so way back when during those AM radio days of the late 70s in Mom/Dads very large sedan...THIS was/is the tune. So pleased, so thrilled you covered it. Absolutely spot-on. I'm not quite there on the crazy lil riff part first at :46. Gotta work on my chops. Love it man! Thank you :)
Haha... thanks a lot! You'll get it.
@@TJH3113 Ha! Thank you sir and...I did. I got it ;) Such a great tune, such a great part!
Thanks, a high school friend back in the early 00s, burned me a mix cd of these type of music and the opening track was this song. Never knew who the artist where.
Awesome bass.. Sounds great.. Always wanted a 5 string version.
Blessings
Very interesting.
Thanks a lot.
Great song, and as always, great cover. I'm another trumpet player turned bass player, and it's hard not to appreciate this one. Sorry to read about the blocked Rio vid, but hopefully your appeal gets it through. I got a "mark" on my account when I uploaded a cover of Supertramp's "Bloody Well Right" a while back. Definitely a little frustrating, especially after seeing other peoples' covers of the same song. Just YT being YT, I suppose. Regardless, that Aria sounds wonderful (been wanting an SB Elite 2 for a while, now). Glad to have caught this upload. Thanks for sharing.
I'm glad you like it. Thanks! Yeah, there've been at least half a dozen brass to bass converts who have commented on this video! Supertramp and, more specifically, Roger Hodgson are the absolute worst for copyright shit. Even worse than The Eagles and that's saying a lot! Thanks again for watching and taking the time to comment.
Wonderfully played as usual... and amazing, beautiful tone!!
Thank you kindly.
Love it
I'm glad
Really great choice! Nice playing! Love the tone you dialed in sits very nicely in the mix.
You and "your gang" stay safe, be well! I'm in the dental field so...we'll see what this week brings. People just may not come in at this point?
Got to ride it out:) Crazy.
Thank you Lori. I really can't take any credit for any "tone dialing", I just fiddle around until it sounds how I like it and go. Whether it sits well in the mix or not is just dumb luck.
Yes, same to you. Not that I was planning a trip to an Apple store, but I can't believe they closed all of their retail locations until the 27th. I drive a truck so I only come into contact with about a half dozen people a day. Lynn works at an airport and is in close contact with many travelers. We went to my Great Niece's Baptism today and my Mother could not attend as it's too risky. She has chronic COPD and even a good cold could put her health in jeopardy.
Awesome!!!!!!!!! I love it Troy!!!!!! Marvine :-0
Thanks you very much, Marvine!!!
Hi Troy - I too have bought 3 Aria Pro basses from Jason - great guy and knows his Aria Pro stuff.
The 3 I bought were all Integra models from the late 80s, early 90s (2 4 strings and a 5 string).
Great playthrough as usual - I had never heard this tune before.
That's great to hear. He came across as a very reputable seller and a nice guy as well.
Thanks a lot... you must be pretty young in you've never heard this.
@@TJH3113 hahaha, I wish - I'm 47 but from Australia so this may have just cultural passed me by!
Really interested to see your collection vid whenever you can make it happen 👍
Awesome Troy!
Thanks Rob!
Very nice!
Thank you, Borat... haha.
I just recently found out about Aria's and I fell in love with the 2 pickup version of the red one you have in the background. Some day I'll pick one up. Can't get over the headstock shape, its simple but unique and I love the symmetry.
Very nice basses. I got one a few years back but it arrived with only half on the neck pick-up working and I sent it back. The pickups and active electronics on these basses are pretty complex and prone to failure because of their age. There are some good replacement p/u's available. Actually, this bass has a replacement, but the electronics are a bit harder to come by. Fortunately, I am partial to single p/u, passive basses and this fit that bill. I've also always been a huge fan on their headstocks.
My dad was one of the best piano tuner technitions in the southern United States his musical knowledge rub off on me I played keyboards for years had Yamaha dx7 korg young Chang grand I recently been playing bass you help me on a lot of tunes thanks ..
Very cool!
Lol never knew that was name of that song great job on cover
Me neither. Thanks.
OMFLOG!!!!! I'm so excited about trying this one. I learned the horn part on guitar when I was 13-14 years old, mind you I didn't ever master the guitar part, but the horn part yes. It and the William tell overture were always my "go to" songs to "weird" people out in the guitar stores. Thank you so much for doing this one. It almost feels like a "wink across a crowded room", to be romantic. Have a wonder weekend and week to follow, my dearest friend I have never met. Cheers Fonzy.
Had to edit the comment after reading. Please stay healthy, you and your whole family. The world is such more fun with you in it, with your brilliant heart and attitude I hope the collecting doesn't stop, I find, I'm crazy if I can't "get just this one" then when I finally do get it, the excitement for "this one more". The hunt and need for one more is half the fun. Can't wait to see your photo shoot, hoping you'll dash a bit of horror to the theme. Anyway sorry so gabby and emotional tonight, just right song right time or something. Btw I'm always willing to aid you in a hunt for music gear just ask and I'll be more than happy to help. Thank you
Glad I could get you excited... haha. I'm glad you liked it.
Yeah, I used to play the Popeye and Munster themes as practice/warm-up exercises, myself.
You're right about the hunt being as much fun as the acquisition and that's why I know I'm near the end. I'll probably always pick up something interesting if I see it, but I've really touched every bass I've ever had in the past or that I ever wanted to have. I've enjoyed the experience and I'm satisfied with that.
Thanks again and take care.
TJH3113 you always make me smile. You’re a good man Charlie Brown.
Outstanding cover! And I thought you were pretty close to me in age but I wasn't sure...I was 10 in '77.
And thank you for the message on the virus...my mother is in that vulnerable group as well. What's interesting is if we're all cautious & it works people will say we overreacted. Better that than the converse I say. 🤷🏼♂️
Thank you very much. I'm bad with the maths, but, in the spirit of keeping it simple, my current age is 55.
We had a couple of shows/concerts that were cancelled/rescheduled but, like I said, minor impositions.
My Mother, on the other hand, will be missing out on her Great Grandaughter's christening tomorrow, which is very sad. Some things happen only once in a lifetime.
@@TJH3113 I just turned 53. I'm fortunate that I can do my job 100% from home so it's fairly easy for me to be cautious. I'm sorry to hear your mother will be missing out, but the good news is caution should give her more time with the child 😊
This is awesome Troy! Damn! I so want to do some freestyle jamming with you!!
Thanks. To be honest, I'm not much of a jammer.
Great song! For a long time, I thought this was a made-up meme song that the King of the Hill writers used for their show. I'm a bit embarrassed to say that it was only about 10 years ago or so that I learned this was an actual song.
It is, isn't it? Years ago, I watched King of the Hill from time to time, but never heard this on it. I would have gotten a kick out of it.
Another great cover. And the dispute procedure is indeed nuts; guilty until proven innocent, yet the party that files the complaint is in no way penalized for frivolously flagging any video that's remotely similar to one they think they have the rights to. And their frivolous flagging creates lots of stress and inconvenience for the innocent video-makers who then have to waste time filling in forms etc, all the while worrying that they might get arbitrarily banned. I've noticed videos sometimes get flagged while they're still uploading, meaning that the process is automated. It's a bad system that encourages bad actors, and RUclips should invest more effort in sorting it out.
Thank you.
Yes, the dispute process (and the whole copyright enforcement thing) has gone through a bunch of changes over the years. Sometimes strict vs sometimes lax. We're in a pretty strict phase now. My channel is not monetized, which makes it a bit easier for me to claim "fair use" and a lot of content owners have figured out that it's better for them to allow videos like mine to stay up and to monetize the videos for themselves. You're correct about the automated part of it, that's why I try not to take these things personally. Most times my videos get put back up without a problem. There are certain artists that are tyrants though, like Ozzy, Fleetwood Mac, The Eagles and Roger Hodgson (of Supertramp). The last two are the absolute worst! I won't even listen to their stuff if it comes on the radio. One thing that RUclips has started doing that I'm really not happy with has to do with the Counter-Dispute process. This is where, after your initial dispute has been shot down, you can file this more formal dispute. You send your personal contact info which is forwarded to the content owner and they have to decide whether they actually want to take you to court or not. I've filed a bunch of counter disputes and have never been asked to appear in court. However, more recently, in some cases, RUclips will not even forward your counter dispute to the content owner and will send you an email stating that they think you are abusing the process and will not proceed any further, leaving you with your hands tied and no recourse. Ok, I've got hundreds of videos up that are of the same format of the one I'm disputing and I'm abusing the process? It is the content owners and youtube who have twisted the process to make it more difficult for people like me.
@@TJH3113 Yeah that's a drag. One hopes they will find a better balance soon. Not now of course, but afterwards. Thanks for all the great bass videos by the way, they're at once instructive and nice to listen to on their own.
Why don't we have good instrumentals anymore. I hate to sound like a 'boomer' and talk of the good old days but we need more creative music to listen to. There's plenty in the past.
One of my favorite songs growing up. I especially like those ascending octave lines in this song.
That's true. Have all the good ideas been thought of already? Or are there no more great minds to come up with the stuff? It's all the same with music, movies, and, to a slightly lesser extent, Broadway.
I'm glad you liked it.
Nice and clean Troy, as always. Get new lights and a green screen, and expense them on your taxes! Love the new additions to the collection. PS - Back from VN and no Corona.
That's me... haha. Thank you.
We do the short form and took a beating this year. Since 2017, we've gotten back less and less in our return. I guess it's partially our fault for treating our federal taxes like Christmas Club.
I'm glad you're good!
Now that feels so damn good! Clean playing as always. Of course, I also came for those awesome octave runs. I love the fact you kept playing solo even after the song. Very well done, sir! :) Also, love your Aria Pro! I think Cliff Burton played a similar model, but in black.
Thanks so much. Yeah, the octaves are my favorite part too. This bass with a black finish would sell for over twice what I paid for this... just based on the color and Cliff.
