    This is normally the last song they played live (May still be playing, haven't seen em in years). Can you imagine playing an hour and a 1/2 THEN having to play more 'ghost' notes in one song than you played real notes in every song up till then. I wish you and RUclips had been around in the 80's when I thought learning to play this stuff was impossible. Fantastic cover and a song I aspire to be able to play one day. John Taylor’s bass work is just awesome. As you said, too often under rated.

    damn those ghostnotes, i love them so much. you are hitting every single one of them so precisely.
    someone pointed out the fill at @4:00 is mindblowing and i agree. but can we please also talk about @3:16 and the nasty slides, f.e. @1:18 and emphasized @5:03? all of them caught me somewhat off-guard but they also felt so right a moment later. creating this little suprise moment followed by instant satisfaction, to me means that you added just the right amount of flavour to this while not overplaying. and that, folks, shows the real greatness of a bass player.
    from all your covers, i like this the most. you just nailed everything. thanks for all the great content.

    • @TJH3113
      @TJH3113  3 года назад +1

      Thanks. For some reason, ghost notes came pretty naturally to me. I used to practice on my own A LOT and I'd use ghost notes just to keep time with myself and they became a regular part of my playing. The hard part came when I was asked not to play them, like during recordings. Actually, I looked at the slides you mentioned and I think that they were just the result of trying to get back up to the E (on the A string) and dragging my pinky along the way.

    • @simonschmitz6719
      @simonschmitz6719 3 года назад

      @@TJH3113 yeah, most of the ghostnotes feeling so natural is why this song is so much fun to play imo. but i'm still somewhat struggling with the ones on the g-string and the one before the B in the Refrain. also my stamina in the right hand needs to get a little better.
      interesting you dind't even think about the slides. i was actually being sure that those were intended. nonetheless, i just love them.

    You've been my guide for learning a lot of Rush songs in the past few years. I just love the way you approach the instrument. And people saying you're "unanimated" is ludicrous, it's so apparent how much you feel the music and how that translates to your playing. Awesome stuff!

    Bass players that play without picks are on a whole other level. The few songs I know on bass I try to play without a pick and it’s a hot mess. 😂. Awesome cover mate. JT would be proud!

      It's funny, but a few of my favorite players were pick players. If I could play with a pick, I definitely would. I guess it's just human nature to want what we don't have. Thanks a lot!

    Great job. I am glad to see someone else play all of the ghost notes after the first D in the chorus. It's how I've been playing it because I think I hear in in the mix, and occasionally I see it looks like John does it live, but not every video. I had thought about simplifying it , but I know if you're doing it, it's right. Great tone as always.
