Why does this song sound so futuristic?!? As someone who grew up with this masterpiece. I was listening again to this song by accident at a store in town and it just feels do modern in some way. Like it could been released recently. Sonique was just waaaaaaah ahead of her time during the 90s.
It's timeless and perfect that's why, but also going into the 2000's a lot of music and movies were going with a futuristic theme because it's wasn't the new millenium yet, but it just felt like 2000 was going to be so futuristic. So in this song in particular there's this sonic vibration you hear in the opening like you would in a futuristic movie, and then the vocals and the baseline and then how they play with parts of her vocals. It's like it just feels like something that never has been duplicated, so even in 3000 it's going to sound modern. It really is rare and it feels so good! ;)
People don’t truly understand how much art, passion, soul that’s really in this song. When you blast this on some headphones you get lost and forget about all your trouble for just 3 minutes or longer than that if you do repeat like me 😎
This song actually describes how you feel when you hear it. It is an all time classic and has a unique energy to it. Very high vibration and makes me imagine whenever i listen to it.
First song I ever danced to in a gay bar. I couldn't articulate the feeling at the time, but it was self acceptance. I knew Id be okay. So, thank you for this song.
To me, I love the fact that this song sounds very different from other dance tracks. You can tell it's 100% Sonique's song and the energy she pours into it you can feel throughout your entire body. The song isn't just catchy but it sends chills down your spin which to me makes the song above and beyond. From the beat, to the bass, to the strings, each part of this song has a purpose! So many layers!
I was GO-GO dancer for 15 years in Florida and this track made so much money for me,because I was very creative dancer when I was dancing on that piece of art music and I loved that song so much...ThanX Sonique ❤
I’m 30 now but I know I remember hearing this track. If it makes her feel any better, this track made it to a US territory I grew up in. I officially feel old now.
I saw Sonique live in Newcastle last year, it was the last event we went with my friend before she passed away. Thank you Sonique for the memories and the great songs!
Absolute banger of a track!! The vox are great, but the songcrafting is really something else. It's hard to stand out in this genre, and Sonique REALLY stood out! Amazing!
I was living in NYC, but never heard it there. I heard it being played non-stop when i was traveling to Rio four times a year. This song was *massive* in the clubs in Brazil. And i still love this because it takes me back to that era, those nights.
This song held me down throughout my childhood. Despite the hardships I faced, this masterpiece that was created by Sonique inspired me to continue to display love unto others and keep running forward. Now I'm at a place in my life that I never thought would come true. Thank you so much for this!
This song and Sky are such timeless dance songs. I can never get sick of them or going back to them. They just always bring you up when you're down and you just feel on top of the world with em.
Let me introduce myself, My name is Dj Storm and I'm the one responsible for discovering this record and signing it to the U.S. I was working as a buyer at Dancetarium a record store in Lake Worth Florida. I was also working closely with the program director of the number one radio station in the country WPOW Power 96. I received a promo copy from one of my distributors and I literally put it on rotation on the radio after listening to it for 30 seconds. The response was massive from the radio play and I convinced Caffeine Records who I was working with to sign it. Briefly after signing it, Universal came into the picture and the rest is history. To this day , it holds the title for the most airplay on Power 86,
The promo you got, was it the original dnb version or the 1998 radio/breakbeat versions? I remember looking for the original version when it was released in 1998, and never found any traces of it, and now I realise it must've been from of the piles of promos we used to receive in those days.
My mom used to play this song so much. I literally had a flashback moment yesterday and have also been playing it on repeat. It came out in 98 I'm 32 now and still remember
I came out of school in 97 and I still beat this song in my car right now till this day... I was clubbing hard back then and been turned out since.. one of the best songs ever 💯✊🏿✌🏿
This song found me during an unforgettable journey to Los Angeles from Maine in 1999, and it became the backing soundtrack to an experience that greatly helped to mold to who I am, I remember playing this song in my cd player even the stewardess told me i had to turn it off when the plane was taking off. I remember it in my head riding rollercoasters at Six Flags. This song is such a big part of my life and Sonique is a legend in my eyes forever. More recently some awesome D&B Djs mixed "higher" into their DJ on a Train mix and it made me so happy to hear this track still hovering among the airwaves
I recently rediscovered this song and all of the memories instantly came flooding back. Everything from the production, the mix and the vocals is absolutely top tier!
I love this song. A love song but you can dance yo ass off to it and still feel in love with your hearts desire. Not many dance songs can do that. A timeless tune. Thanks Sonique ❤😊❤
I remember being in high school in the US when dance music was getting popular and this was one of the tracks pushing the genre forward. Big up to Sonique
For those of you who like deep bass, at 1:20 and a few times beyond that there's a nice base line. You cannot hear it with a lot of consumer speakers/headsets, but with some you can. I found it, because it's apparently used for testing car audio systems (bass test).
Timeless classic. I remember heavily digging this track, back when I was still a kid, who wasn't even into electronic music (or music in general) at that time.
I think that this song is truly ageless cause you put it out now 2024 and you will get people dancing to it. Thank You Sonique and Simon for a great song😊😊
I'd just like to say, this song and Believe by Cher are the songs that made me realize as a little boy I was different than a lot of the other boys around me. I still listen to this classic daily btw! I love this song so much and the feeling I get when im really into it. like I'm almost flying or something cool like that.
Me too, Sonique, i wanna say to you thank you for that song. I can still hear and smell all the great feeling with my loved one in a club that played your song. And i fell in love with your song right away. Can't put enough words to describe my love for your songs ❤❤❤
I was djing every weekend when this was about, playing it months before it went mainstream in the UK , when it actually came out here people would say hey, you were playing this months ago !!
What an absolute banger this track still is! All of these years later I can vividly remember what I was doing when I heard this song for the very first time. I was in my car driving home from spending the day with a guy who eventually became my boyfriend. We had just met a few days prior and decided to spend the entire day together for the first time to see if there was any chemistry. After the day was over, I got in my car feeling very giddy because it felt like this was going somewhere. I turn on the radio and this song is playing. The lyrics fit so perfectly with how I was feeling at that moment! It will always be special to me because of that. 😊
Thanks for watching! What other classics would you like to see in our series? 👇
I'd say Ecuador by Sash!
@@Edurojolavanda Surely it's got to be Encore une fois? The Future Breeze Edit too!
How about Sandi Thom? She's coming back slowly into music. Now is the best time to interview her, with her song "Flowers In My Hair" :)
Time to get DJ Falcon or Alan Braxe on
Lady Modjo
This tune was getting played EVERYWHERE when it dropped.
Glad you used the correct terminology, "tune" and not the revisionist term "banger".
I beat this song right now till this day u right ✌🏿💯👍🏿
Still plays!
This song still hits different in 2024
This was and still is one of my favorite tracks
Agreed

This song is already a classic. It got played loads when it came out and it will get played a lot. Love Sonique's voice!
Her vocals made this song! This truly is a classic banger! ❤
Definitivamente
Why does this song sound so futuristic?!? As someone who grew up with this masterpiece.
I was listening again to this song by accident at a store in town and it just feels do modern in some way. Like it could been released recently.
Sonique was just waaaaaaah ahead of her time during the 90s.
Yeah when it came out nothing sounded like it. Its those synth pads. They're so badass.
It is her haunting sounding vocal combined with 303.
It's timeless and perfect that's why, but also going into the 2000's a lot of music and movies were going with a futuristic theme because it's wasn't the new millenium yet, but it just felt like 2000 was going to be so futuristic. You must not listen to trance type shiit. Big synth lines. Like someone said, 303
It was a Garage track original xxxx
Still sounds fresh after 23 years
People don’t truly understand how much art, passion, soul that’s really in this song.

Sonique’s Feels So Good and Alice DeeJay’s Better Off Alone were massive back in my day. Loved these songs.
First song I ever danced to in a gay bar. I couldn't articulate the feeling at the time, but it was self acceptance. I knew Id be okay. So, thank you for this song.

I’m a fan of deeper dnb and dnb house music but this top chart dance hit is so infectious. It brought everyone to the dance floor.
