I think there is an entire generation of 50 and 60 somethings that will have this song played at their own funerals. I know I will be one of them. This song says it all to those you knew and loved. Alan Parsons is a musical genius and no one can ever sing this song the way Colin does. It's such a shame that modern music has no soul to it.
You're so right Maz. I was 18 when I first heard this song; living in a tiny bedsit in London. 36 yrs later , the words DO mean so much more. A lot of great times coupled with a lot of pain.
I almost passed away once and how odd that this was the song I wanted for my final procession. It still haunts me at an older age. Such a profound and beautiful memory of my youth. Words can never Express my love and emotions for this.
Two years after this recording, I located Colin Blunstone playing in a dingy little nightclub in Worcester Park and drove there to see him. Always thought he was Britain's most underrated singer. I'd seen The Zombies once in the 1960's and he'd just met up with Rod Argent again and they'd started the band again when I saw them. I'd wondered what had happened to them. From that little nightclub in 2002 they're now doing world tours. Wonderful band and singer.
30 - 40 secs. Seeing the tears of others sets me off. I’m there in the moment. This is a great song and Colin has always had that enviable, angelic voice. As a musician the greatest connection you’ll ever make is when someone cries when they hear you sing. You couldn’t ask for more than that.
Such a haunting song. I was a young man when I fell in love with Alan Parsons Project and this song in particular. I'm now 57 and feel the lyrics are now even more relevant.
Oh yes I am right there with you. Most of my friends were not interested in this music. I always thought what are they thinking. Beauty and art should be observed. But most people are more interested in gossip and train wrecks. Life is for the living. Don't waste it. Listen and learn from beauty not ugliness.
What western movie used Pink Floyd's Time? I know that APP worked on the album and I just can't remember. I know the cowboy is riding into town with clocks ticking and chiming. Gosh, what the mind does when aging. Thanks in advance for helping me.
Eric Woolfson was such a underrated genius, who wrote dozens of brilliant songs and haunting instrumentals. He was so quiet guy and remained out of light. . Everybody knows Alan Parsons who was smart leader of his Project but the brain and author of the band was still Woolfson.
According to a recent documentary this was his favourite song and Eric Woolfson (the writer of the Alan Parsons project music) give him a few days to practise, normally they just said here it is Colin sing it now and he frequently did just one take. Brilliant singer and a song writer as well.
It is very difficult not to escape a tear when listening to this nostalgic but beautiful song sung with much feeling by this great artist, really beautiful.-
My best friend from High School always asked that this be played at his funeral. Even as a teen he said he would die when he was 30. He was taken from us when he was 31. A hauntingly personal song.
I love this song so much. It means so much to me, I cry each time I hear it. I have someone who will always be in my heart and will always be a friend of mine, thank you so much for posting this on RUclips. I sadly miss the haunting saxophone played on a previous recording, but the electric guitar does a wonderful job.
Classic song, every word cuts deep in the heart...true are the words as we get older we get wiser...so thankful we are lucky enough to hear and enjoy this song...
Memories of the 70' & 80's in the restaurants I worked in with so many friends. We had such great times. All gone now but the memories bring me happiness.
When a perfect song meets the perfect voice to sing it. Or when a perfect voice meets the perfect song to sing. It rarely happens, but when it does you have this.
CB has such a breathy and beautiful resonance to his voice, the soft tonal quality and clarity is truly otherworldy and this most gorgeous song brings out and compliments his style so much and so well! All round simply beautiful and profound! Xxx.
Back in 2006 i was on an Alan Parsons Project kick. I remember coming across this song for the first time and said who the hell is the vocalist??? the answer Colin Blunstone (holy shit) the singer for The Zombies. I wish Colin had more guest spots on the Alan Parsons albums.
I am knocking on the door of 70......this song gets you thinking about life....

This has to be one of the most beautiful emotionally charged songs ever written.
It’s bought me to tears as I recall when I listened to this as a very sad young woman, in the early1980’s….. still sad at times, but I survived.
Fabulous song, beautiful lyrics and in Colin Blunstone the perfect voice for this song. So emotional.
I hope that this magical performance catch the attention of the next generation. Best song ever !
I'm now 61 years old and the song is becoming more relevant each year.
Of course im 64 their passing away songs

Such a haunting song. I cried at 25 listening to it, and now at 52 it means so so much more...
I'm 64 and am waiting for the Zombies tour dates to be announced. thanks for your comments and what can I say? they don't make em like this any more.
You're so right Maz. I was 18 when I first heard this song; living in a tiny bedsit in London. 36 yrs later , the words DO mean so much more. A lot of great times coupled with a lot of pain.
I'm 52. And I love tis song since I Was 13.
You need listen to Edward Reekers sing this song, you will cry deep
I am 58 and this song still evokes so many emotions it's hard to describe.
As I approach my 70th year, I share the tears of the Hostess...
Beautiful vocals, Colin has a fragility, vulnerable quality which is unusual in male singers. Outstanding song by Eric Woolfson.
Colin Blunstone is one of those rare performers, everything he has done has been classic.
Indeed 💜
My favourite song of all time.
Me too
It will be my funeral song ... a thank you for all the people I dearly loved
ber calnip this and Comfortably Numb will be mine.
I adore her for crying
Was it Anne Diamond?
The older I get, the better this gets...
Watching Colin sing “She’s Not There” with The Zombies; I thought he was the coolest ever …watching this at 67 brings tears…
Collin's voice is enchanting.
This piece was, is & will stay in the hearts & souls of mankind.
Thank you Alan Parson's Project...

One of the most meaningful songs of the ages.

Song for my funeral back to back with in my life.

People cry when I sing too. They beg me to stop. I don't think it's the same thing tho.

Still brings tears, to my eyes, like it did. When i was 30, now i am 72. As the same effect
Oh this sublime performance ~ watching the faces of so many in the audience who know that their own death is approaching.

Too right he is. A real gentleman.

What a voice ,beautiful
I really would love this song to be played at my funeral. I'm sure it would soothe any sorry feeling among the attenders!

this is a song of LIFE... touched me.. i must be wise when i get old... so i can remember a friend of mine.. even just one of them.
always one of my favourite songs by the brilliant Colin Blunstone
God this song touches something deep inside. The guitar at end jars though I allways stop it when Colin finishes.
Music makes the world a much better place,..period!❤🎶👍

한국영화 "비열한거리" OST로 사용된 2007년 부터 쭉 듣고 있는 음악. 현재 37세 이지만 들을때마다 슬픈 음악입니다

When a perfect song meets the perfect voice to sing it. Or when a perfect voice meets the perfect song to sing.
It rarely happens, but when it does you have this.
That is my favorite of APP's
A great singer for a beautiful song!
Extraoelrdinarily beautiful. What a song and what a voice
Never heard this before. Colin Blunstone is still glorious.
i'm just old...
Nobody does this song better than Collin .
let it be known from this day forward
I agree !
Lol, the Original is 10 times better, Alan Parssons Project !
@@albertbavre3941 11 times better :)
@@albertbavre3941 He sang the original.
@@albertbavre3941 he is the lead vocal of APP's old and wise
Each time I isten to this song I find it more and more extraordinary, both music and lyrics

No, the song is really that insanely emotional. And Colin Blunstone is a-maz-ing.
This song it a requiem of the ending life.

Just beautiful
Every note hits me like a hammer

I was a teenager when this came out and I still think it's a great one. And Colin Blunstone nails it here!
@joserafaf She is Dana Winner, a Belgian/Flemish singer...
Her favorite song is Old and Wise... She also recorded a version of O&W...
Sublime!!!
Simply brilliant.

Cuando un poema se vuelve canción, directo a tu alma!
I was 22 yo. My father played this song at the 58 yo in front of me, then I started thinking about this miserable life.
Words from what? This is beautiful, beautiful! Tkanks Colin and the Alan Parsons!
such a moving performance of a brilliant piece of songwriting. !
What a voice
I love that song and its message.
amazing song, just amazing. I've heard this song 20 years ago and i still enjoy it everytime i hear it.
The girl crying on the show had just lost her dad and asked Colin to sing this
I want this played as the curtains close at my funeral.....not yet though 😜
