In 1974 I nearly got evicted from my rented flat due to me constantly playing Eloise very loud. It still remains to this day one of the most beautiful song ever.
OMG! Even better than the original. Pure unadulterated class. No half naked women. No misogyny. No dancers. A full atmospheric orchestra. And a brilliant singer.
I can't stop playing this song I think it's brilliant the singer the orchestra the lot it's just a fantastic song .I like the way it stops then builds up again it's fab
Behave! A one hit wonder that was, simply POP! I loved the song at the time and it has stood the test of time.... I still love it! But it is POP..... It has NO STATURE. It is meaningless pop music.
A fantastic classic forever. For me this wonderful song is THE blueprint for all "mini operas" or for the fusion of rock and classic. TMHO without "Eloise" there would never have been "Music" from John Miles and other such songs, and for example typical songs of ELO or Queen in the way we know them.
The melody is hauntingly mesmerizing.. Full of surprises .very few songs have this mix that is sooo masterfully composed .The many elements of musical strain introduced in this piece makes it soo intriguing . The change in tempo the change in voice compels one to listen to the end . Having said that the lyrics penetrates the soul leaving one in a very sad state.
Ich werde euch niemals vergessen.R.I.P.
Gracias. Cantantes fuera de lo común.
My favorite........................when i was 9 years old i sing with my transistor radio under my blankets this song......... beautifull with orkest. You looked very well Barry.
Meg Goodare mine too Meg. I’m 72 and have listened to a lot of music, but this is number one for me. Interesting, there’s never been another song like it.
I WAS THERE! The 1993 Heineken Night of The Proms at Ahoy Rotterdam for Veronica TV Holland with Sting topping the bill. Gary Brooker also sang A Whiter Shade of Pale and Colin Blunstone sang She's Not There. The TV station used one of the only pair of remaining wide-arm Louma camera cranes in the world. It swept over the entire hall above the thousands present - originally used on the Al Pacino movie Revolution sweeping over an entire battlefield - the largest camera crane ever built hovered back and forth throughout. It was utterly epic, the orchestration was superb, with a huge organ on a suspended rolling metal railed-rig for the close of the show that floated over the entire venue, literally hundreds of feet above us all for a cathedralesque version of Bach's Organ Recital in D Minor as heard in the movie The Phantom of The Opera. The mono sound here does not do this justice. This remains as a stunning, unparalleled performance from Barry Ryan and is every bit as good as I recollect. All the beer was free and all the girls were smiling. So was I. Henry Scott-Irvine
I was wondering what year this was. It's a shame they only did one song each by the sounds of it. I went looking to see if perhaps the entire concert was on YT, but unfortunately that doesn't seem to be the case. Some other (later) years are there, so I might have a look at those instead. I think I once saw a Golden Earring concert at the Ahoy when I was on holidays in Holland. The name of the place rings a bell anyway.
@TheZ1A900 Re: Makes your hairs stand on your back it is timeless and what a nice person Barry is. I Don't have hairs standing on my back ... Speak for yourself ... Get the point
Perhaps for me, my most spectacular and wonderful Song that is always in my heart ! ! ! This magnificent Performance of Eloise by Barry Ryan and this Marvellous Orchestra, brings also to me so many, many, Beautiful Memories when I was a young teenager !
The choir here adds another magnificent dimension to one of the greatest songs ever created... this is just way too beautiful for this ugly and jaded world... Blessèd be /|\

Hey, I reckon this is the best version. He still had his voice and an appreciative audience(who were probably listening to this in 66)and great orchestra backing and not miming as he did later as age caught up....give him some credit.
I was 14 years old when " eloise" came to my life i am 61 years now and still listen to it like the very first time i even had eloise' name tatooed on back of my neck eloise its in my blood and became part of me, how creazy can i get?
Is there someone out there that could explain this on the spanish version done by mexican johny dynamo in 1969 ( eloise, of courae) right before the singer finishes the song, you can hear on the back ground these words, that are not part of the song, the worda are " qitate" that means " move" and the other word ia " otra vez" that means " once again or one more time_" still have not figure this out, by the way this version is the best of all the versions that have been made excluding the original, can anyone out there answer me? i' be very greatdul.
You know you have done something right when a song you sung over 50years ago is still played and loved by the " old " fans and the new ones.
In 1974 I nearly got evicted from my rented flat due to me constantly playing Eloise very loud. It still remains to this day one of the most beautiful song ever.
I know what you mean Rudy. Its such a fantastic song.
Metoo

Fabuloso! 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
OMG! Even better than the original. Pure unadulterated class. No half naked women. No misogyny. No dancers. A full atmospheric orchestra. And a brilliant singer.
Excellent live performance with a top notch orchestra and backing singers.

You're not a least bit crazy - youv'e just fallen in love with the song - hook, line and sinker!
I thank god that there are people like me that one day long time ago maybe in some other world fell in love with " Eloise" like me
In those years there were many hopes for a better world, but the lid of hell was opened, and demons ruled the entire world.
