    You could not have said that more perfectly. And as far as budget bugout beaters, this is the only one that truly competes. No other knife combines the light weight, blade & handle profile in the THIN handle width package. 1/4 the cost of a bugout. Absolute no brainer

    I actually picked this up after looking on Amazon for a knife that was similar to my prior Hogue Deka CPM Magnacut which I unfortunately lost while on vacation. I wanted a similar Wharncliffe blade shape and a lightweight handle material. This CJRB Pyrite is a crazy value and a really nice knife. Now I have something that is still nice to EDC but wont feel so bad loosing. $30 vs $160... I can purchase 5 of these CJRB Pyrites in every color and still have some money leftover for my 3 times per week Starbucks treat.

    Even at $40 once the sale is over it's still the mythic "perfect" budget knife. They really swung hard with this one, and it is going to be real interesting to see how the other brands combat this. There has never been a better time to be a knife/edc fan than right now, no matter the price range you're shopping in!

    Normally I agree with you on a lot of your reviews, but this one was a miss for me. I ordered one of these based on this video and frankly I am disappointed with what I received. Not your fault of course, but there may be a QC issue on these and wanted to post what I am seeing with mine. The action is pretty rough to be honest. For whatever reason I can fail the opening and closing of this button lock about 1/3 of the time. When I say fail, I mean that it does not fully open or fully close when I am using the button lock itself to deploy or retract the blade. I feel like the button is riding the blade more than it should even when fully depressed. I would be willing to blame myself, but I have other button locks from CJRB as well as other brands that don't have this issue. I can deploy with the thumb studs 100% of the time, no issues. Overall it's is a nice fit with my other smaller lightweight knives (Hogue Deka and my Frankenstein SRM 9201), if it weren't for the action issue I would be happier. I am going to send it back to CJRB to see if they can clean it up some.

  • @razumskiy
    @razumskiy 2 месяца назад

    Hmm... Idk, I'd rather get a really good, big, fixed blade for woods and ozark trail $5 axis lock for edc. I just don't see value in using $40 knife on everyday package, food and miscellaneous stuff 🤔
    edit: btw i see value in weight and size, it's super slim compared to wallmart however what would you choose: cleaning and maintaining wood chips, fish guts on a $40 knife or a cheap one? I wnt the middle road and got myself benchmade bugout copy for $8

    One thing where CJRB isn't competitive: the brand has a problem with their pivots. IDK if they over torque them or what, but nearly every one I've handled has dents in the bearing path that make it not nearly as smooth as a bearing knife should be. I still like the knives, but that shouldn't happen, and it doesn't with other brands, even ones at similar prices.

    it’s $20 more for the steel handles. the steel handles are milled out so there’s a higher machining cost. the steel handles have a higher material cost. the steel handles are virtually indestructible and they have a very comfortable weight to them. grivory has very low material cost virtually no machining cost and is not durable or comfortable and you would think they could be a lot more creative with injection molding vs machining and add a lot more contouring but that’s not the case here… if you compare this knife to the benchmade bug out (the definitive reason why i’ll never buy benchmade knife ever again) then this is a good value because the bug out was released at around $230 and here what you have just as good of a knife for $30 so definitely a much better value there but not a better value than the steel handles which we’re already on this knife. the only way this would be a better value than the original is if my intention was to throw the scales in the trash where they belong and go buy aftermarket scales. this knife may not share all of the flaws of the bugout but brand new out of the box screws kept falling out of mine because the cheap plastic handle flexes too much which i fixed later with locktite thread adhesive but it still happened again so i had it sitting in my car for about a week while i was waiting for new hardware to come in and the UV inside my car made that handle crumble apart. i bought aftermarket scales for it and cleaned it up nice and gave it away because it makes my eyes bleed every time i look at it. spyderco does flat injection molded handles but i wouldn’t buy a spyderco either. they aren’t innovative anymore and their whole lineup looks exactly the same as ten years ago and their handles are flat and square and sure they bring diverse blade steel and an excellent heat treatment but budget steels often perform better anyway and their FRN handles are better than benchmade grivory but they’re still selling $200 knives with plastic handles on them which aren’t even done well like you can’t take apart several of their lightweight model knives for maintenance and then they have exotic steels which rust incredibly easily like maxamet so if the thing ever gets wet there’s no way to take it apart and cleanup the action so there are other downsides and even when two of the top producers in the united states try plastic it looks like garbage
