    I would love to train with professor Faria. Besides being a very knowledgeable world champ, he is always cheery and enthusiastic with bjj.

    Question here: How do you prevent him from posting his right hand back??

    • @BernardoFariaBJJ
      @BernardoFariaBJJ  7 лет назад +45

      Hi Frederick, first Bruno pulls me to him, so I move my weight backwords and I dont expect he is gonna sweep forward and he was pulling me, so thats why it works, because he pretends he wants to pull me and he ends up going forward. Bruno does it so fast, that because I dont expect its coming, I dont have time to post my hand. I hope it has helped you. Thanks for the support. OSSS

  • @viator22
    @viator22 5 лет назад

    The commenters are underestimating how fast and far Bruno can circle and bring the knee in when he comes up. A guys gonna have to post really hard to be able to shift the hip off and the post is gonna get unwound by the shifting angle.

    Thanks for the technique! May I ask? how do you prevent them from knocking you over and putting you on your back? or is that a chain into a butterfly sweep? thanks!

    • @BernardoFariaBJJ
      @BernardoFariaBJJ  7 лет назад +25

      Great question Sergio. I believe that in this situation what is going to prevent them to put our back on the mat, will be a very good and tight underhook, you can see that with one arm Bruno gets the underhook, and with the other he controls my paints. But for sure the underhook is what gives him the control. I hope it has helped you. Thanks for the support. OSSS

      Matt Pace I'm guessing the key is in the speed of the reversal of direction. There won't be nearly enough time to post. Obviously this works if they took the time to film this. I doubt 2 multi time world Champs wouldn't consider something so elementary

    • @michaelmeneses8266
      @michaelmeneses8266 7 лет назад +4

    Why not address the elephant in the room about the hand posting to stop the sweep?

    • @dapurplesmurf
      @dapurplesmurf 7 лет назад +6

      It kind of works the same as his belt grip butterfly sweep. If your opponent is allowed to post both limbs on the side you're sweeping to, then it's a problem. He explores controlling the pants to take out a different table leg rather than the usual arm. Try it out for yourself and see. It was kind of an epiphany for my game. If they do post the hand, they'd only make passing a bit more difficult rather than stopping the sweep. Hope I helped!

    • @MikeLibbie
      @MikeLibbie 7 лет назад +6

      Right. Even if the arm is posted, the hips are being moved out from under the torso rather than simply pushing the person over. That's what I'm seeing, anyway. I definitely want to try this. Nearly all of my training partners are heavier than me by 25lbs.

    • @michaelbishop9157
      @michaelbishop9157 5 лет назад +2

      have you considered putting on 25lbs - often easier than learning the technique
